3 weeks isn't very long. In my experience it took 4-5 weeks of consistent logging before starting to lose. Now it's like clockwork, my goal was to lose 7 lbs, but I was curious how much I could lose, and am at 15 lbs. These last pounds were as easy to lose as the first 60 lbs in my 30's. I'm 57 now. Keep the big picture in…

Wow! Good for you!!! Congratulations

What works is what you are willing to stick with. They're all good programs. You need to stay on one long enough to really understand how to eat that supports your long term goals. Atkins helped me get away from eating massive amounts of starches for a 40 lb loss. The next 30 were with WW and taught me how to eyeball…

You are getting great advice here. There's a big difference between eating your TDEE and dropping to 1250 in a panic. You've done great losing! I would take the TDEE down a hundred calories 1500-1700 and just see how that fits. Allow those 2 lbs to fall off slowly over time. I'm just a few years younger and our maintenance…

Around 12 years maintaining after a 70 lb loss. I log whenever I gain 4 or more lbs., usually a few months a year. Looking through my logs I have gained as much as 9 lbs but always brought it back down. I know what I can eat, but love calorie dense food, so i do fluctuate! Not bad for 12 years. Log, log, log.

It's a great question. I peaked at 215 lbs in 1999. Once I 'woke up' to how big I was, I jumped on it. Time didn't matter to me as I just wanted to be healthy. Looking at my logs (I still have them!), I reached my goal in 2004 (a total loss of 65lb). I have been maintaining between 150-155 for 12 years! What that meant was…

Ha! No, I didn't get a new license, just let them do a double take and compliment you on your new look! (Actually it only happens with my passport and it's usually due to a different hair style, not because my cheeks are thinner :) )

5'7" 57...it's my birthday week! CW 146 GW well, it was 146! Hit it today. So perhaps I'll just keep going. Never thought I would reach it in the first place! MFP rocks.

Big wine drinker here! I live in wine country and have never given up my nightly drinks. It's never slowed my loss, I just work it in. (Or work it off!) Doubt any doctor would put a stamp of approval on it though!

Thank you for the morning giggles!! Great writing! I would follow you if I could find the darn button...

Love the search feature on MFP. We're having this same discussion this morning as we prep turkey for a batch of jerky. Thank you for the info!

Very cool. It said I was in the healthy range and 'no health benefits by losing more weight'. Guess the next few pounds are just for me! Do you think the body fat estimates are accurate? I've seen everything from 23%-29% for me. I'm 56, 5'7" 150 lbs. goal is 146.

THIS is my lesson of the month. It's just data.
-
I find it hard to look at my before pic at 215 lbs. but love where I've arrived! 5'7", 150 currently And I'm 56 yo!
-
Good for you! You are an inspiration and brave to boot.

I agree and I imagine that trainers may not realize their job may be part therapist, or at least compassionate listeners. Acknowledgement. I think that's why I put this out so publicly. Acknowledging that even though I look like I've achieved all I wanted on the outside, that the internal, and apparently deeply buried…

Great Job!!! 11 years......I can only hope! You are now my role model :) [/quote] Very kind! It has to become a part of your life!

Just keep at a deficit until that lb is gone. And I disagree with the others that you won't notice a 1 lb loss. I do. I'm close to goal and can feel the change on a daily basis whether it's up or down. And congrats with maintaining!
-
11 years for me. I know when I wake up if I've gained. I can feel the difference after all these years. Eventually I get on the scale and start logging till its gone. I never allow more than 5 lbs before I do something about it.

OP, search for the 'Eat, Train, Progress' group in this app. Read everything. It's full of great information that will set you on the right path, dispell the myths we all grew up with and get you eating right for your body.

Wow, wow, wow. 11 years of maintaining and I never understood why my goal weight was repeatedly 'just out of reach'. Now I'm pushing to a new low and this is so incredibly eye opening (as I bang my head on the table) thank you
-
Ignore all those statistics! Just continue doing what works. (11 years on maintenance. Not always easy, but SO much better than being obese!)
-
Ha! I even got rid of the wiggle under my arm! :o Only exercise can do that! Great job so far and keep it up
-
Absolutely-there's a lot you can't control, especially as we age, but we can control our diet and exercise!
-
Nice work! Congratulations-it does work when you work it!
-
Congratulations!! Don't EVER forget how good this feels! And it works for me to never allow more than a 4 lb gain before hitting the logs again. I feel for those who keep putting it back on, but I don't understand it. I'm not saying maintenance is easy, but to confront being obese again isn't an option for me. I also…

Thank you everyone. It's a bit daunting to lay it all out there for the world to see-but reading others' stories has been helpful to me, so it was my turn.
-
wow-that's a lot to deal with. Good for you for taking it on again and congrats!!
-
Take no prisoners! We are a force to be reckoned with-you can do this.

My daughter turned 33 a few days ago. It took a few years, but she has taken on her own weight loss journey as well and I couldn't be prouder. We use the same language and have similar goals and can talk about it like we are on the same 'team' rather than her feeling defensive about her progress. So thank you for your…
