I have had that happen at times. I use a chest strap heart rate monitor, and I always log the amount of calories my heart rate monitor says. You don't need motivation. You need determination. Motivation comes and goes. But if you're DETERMINED, you will find a way to achieve your goals, even when you're not feeling motivated.

What a sweet thing to say! Thanks so much. I have learned that you won't always be MOTIVATED. Motivation comes and goes. But, if you are DETERMINED, you will find a way to accomplish your goals, one way or the other.

I am 5'1.. Started at 241...down to 231 now. I am breaking my goals into smaller sections so that it doesn't seem so overwhelmed. I would like to ultimately be done to 150 or so, maybe less. Would love to be friends.

Calorie deficit means that you are burning more than you are consuming. You cannot only eat 500 calories in a day.. Eat at LEAST 1,200 calories, or whatever MFP tells you to eat depending on what your goals are.
