I've copied and pasted what I said on another recent thread: I drink a shot of ACV before meals everyday. It does indeed control MY appetite (I can't speak for others). It allows me to practice portion control and I am not hungry after my meals. I do not snack. Last month I lost 24 pounds by controlling my food and…

I am aware of that. Hence the chug of water after the ACV. I take a shot so I try not to let it hit my teeth, but the water clears any residue.

I drink a shot of ACV before meals everyday. It does indeed control MY appetite (I can't speak for others). It allows me to practice portion control and I am not hungry after my meals. I do not snack. Last month I lost 24 pounds by controlling my food and appetite. I know some of it was water weight, but I'm still on the…

I lost 70 lbs and gained it all back plus about 5 lbs. more. January 2016 I was determined to get disciplined -- make myself go to the gym, practiced portion control, and logged all the calories and food I was eating. That's how I lost the weight. But in August 2016 I had an accident and fractured my foot. My primary…

I have degenerative disc disease and had surgery last year to repair 4 discs on my neck. I'm not a runner, however before surgery, not knowing my condition, I started the Couch-to-5K running program. That is when everything started to surface. Apparently running causes the vertebrae to compress, and since I had bad discs…

Thank you senecarr. That is good information to know. I love this thread. I have learned so much from the discussion in this forum. I feel like it took me a million years to finally "get it".

OK I understand now. Thank you. I hope that means that the water weight is temporary.

It's the water weight from the sodium in the nuts [/quote] But then that means I can gain weight even though I have a calorie deficit, right?

I have a question, and I hope it's not too dumb. First, I understand about the calorie deficit. But what about cases where you are indeed, in a calorie deficit for the day -- however the food eaten was high sodium (like salted shelled pistachios) and drinking water or ice green tea (no sugar) all day. I have noticed on the…

Thank you AZSAK. I always appreciate the information you post and especially appreciate the knowledge you share.

I had neck/spinal surgery last year and am now prohibited from running to save what few discs I have left in my neck. So I am limited to walking. I am now up to 3.6 mph walking on the treadmill with a 7% incline. I am not certain how many calories I burn, but I can tell you it is a good challenge and I have been losing…

Thank you so much for your input! On the treadmill I am constant for the entire 60 minutes. Nothing changes other than my heart rate. OK..... I think I get it now. That was a good explanation. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Thank you stealthg for your answer. I do not use the monitor on the machine. I follow the my heart rate on an HRM that I wrap around my chest. If the heart rate is up, doesn't that mean I am at high intensity regarding of holding hand rails or not? I heard that I would be working different muscles if I hold the hand rail,…

Azdak, if you are still around, I would really like your input -- and of course anyone else who can help. I am just a beginner with using the incline. Right now I am doing 3.6 mph and a 6% incline. I hold on to the handrails for dear life -- mostly psychological. But I do have short legs. I wear a HRM and since upping the…
