Another update. I'm now down a total of 8 pounds for July, with just over a week to go to lose 2 more for the month. Very pleased.

So far so good. As of Monday I am down 6.2 pounds and that was mid-month.

My July goal is to lose 10 pounds in July. Ultimate goal: lose 120 pounds

I tend to not share with my extended family that I'm trying to lose weight. Otherwise I get inundated with "helpful" info, which drives me nuts. I prefer to very quietly do what I need to do, thankyouverymuch. The only ones who know I'm actively losing weight in my family are my husband and kids, and they've been sworn to…

I agree that it's just water. My first week doing low carb I lost 4 pounds, and the next week I was up for most of the week and then had a sudden and quick loss the morning of my weigh in. I'm convinced it was my body flushing out all the water it was retaining in that second week. Some weeks I'll have a gain (such as this…

I do weigh myself every day, but I only track it on Monday mornings right before I hop in the shower to get ready for work. And I don't let my daily weigh-ins bother me anymore - if anything it proves that you can fluctuate a LOT from day to day. I'm pretty faithful about keeping to my calorie limit and macros, but there…

When I exercise I only eat back 20-30% of them, not half.

My weakness is definitely late night snacking. Once my family goes to bed, the kitchen has a siren song that calls out to me! When I decided to get serious about losing weight, and not just talking about it, I made sure to have my last piece of food - whatever it was - no later than 9 p.m. It didn't matter if it was a…

In general rewards don't work for me - I give up and get easily frustrated after just a few weeks of not earning the reward. This time around, I'm getting serious about losing weight, but I'm also doing it in a completely different way. No longer am I telling myself I can't have that oreo, that ice cream, that chocolate.…

I signed up for it today - goal is to lose 30 pounds in 6 months. I figure the money I "win" can go towards new clothes next spring! And if I get to goal and win I'll sign up for the next 30-40 pounds as well.

how long have you been on a low carb diet? 5 weeks (not keto, per se, but low carb in general how much did you weigh when you started and how much have you lost? 268, down 15 so far how many carbs do you eat a day? between 50-100 daily. I try to keep my weekly average to 70-80. this is NOT net carbs - just actual carbs.…

I started low carb a couple weeks ago and started eating eggs a lot - only 6-8 a week (which is more than the 2 per week I normally eat) - and I'm already sick of eggs. Can't imagine DAILY eating 36 eggs!

Thanks. I ended up losing 1.5 pounds in week 2 (that 1.5 came off the last two days of the week).

I don't monitor tenths of a pound, but I do get on the scale daily. And while I don't obsess, necessarily, I do use that as an indicator of things like "did I have too much sodium yesterday?" or "did I drink enough water yesterday?" I don't get frustrated if I "only" go down .2, but I am a bit miffed that in week 2 I…

My average carbs in the first week were 71 per day. Net carbs for that week averaged 66 per day. Net average daily calories in week one was 1176. Exercise included one 3-mile walk (it was a busy week and I could only go walking one night after work). I dropped 9 pounds in the first week. Now in week 2 my average is 101…

Back on MFP for first time in two years. Sadly, at highest weight ever in my life. And I was doing so well there for a while. Oh well - what's past is past. This time around I'm going low carb. I'm not doing keto - I'm too much of a picky eater to be successful with that. However, I am reducing carbs by half. Last week my…

I added a bit more healthy food to my daily intake, but did not restrict any other foods. I just modified portion control so that everything I eat fits into my daily calories.
-
Welcome - feel free to friend me. I agree that not thinking of this as a diet but a lifestyle change is helpful (it is for me). I also don't restrict the types of foods that I eat because I know I'll fail if I tell myself I can NEVER have chocolate or greasy french fries or french toast.

My pre-teen just recently asked if we could watch "Chuck," so we started watching that last night.

I recommend the walking as well. If you are very very overweight, even just 30 or 45 minutes a day at a regular walking pace will burn significant calories for you for many, many months. Then as you get used to 30-45 minutes a day, you can go up to 45-60 minutes a day. Then work on going a bit faster. Modest changes to to…

I'm with @khh1138 - I only log cleaning if it is extreme "sweat pouring down my face" cleaning - which only happens a couple times a year. Same with yardwork/gardening.

Cut your fast food consumption by a third and see what happens. If you eat FF 3x a day, change it to 2x a day and eat something more nutritious for that third meal. If you eat FF 2x a day, change it to once a day. That one small change alone will make a huge difference and it's such an easy change to make. If you can't…

Consider going a week not using the C25K program, but just increasing your distance without using the app. Since you know you can do 28 minutes, add 7 more and go 35 minutes - that'll definitely help you cross the 5K mark. Do that 35 minute run a few more times until you are comfortable and feel good, then begin working on…

I eat one almost every day for lunch at work (I also eat WW Smart Ones or Banquet meals). I counter the high sodium content by drinking a *minimum* of 16 fl oz of water while I eat. I also have a cup of fruit on the side to help fill me up. Just know the Banquet meals can run VERY high in sodium (the one I had today was…

It technically counts, but I wouldn't count it. For example, I park WAY far away from my office. It takes me 10 minutes to walk from my car to my desk. Do I log that as exercise? Nope. But I do log the 3-mile walks I take at night after work. Anything I do in the course of my normal workday I don't count as exercise. Now,…

I weigh every day, but I only track it once a week. Weighing daily allows me to ignore fluctuations. for instance, yesterday I reached a new low, but today I was up 2 pounds. But yesterday I had salted popcorn as an afternoon snack, and didn't drink a ton of water to off-set the water retention from the blast of sodium. So…

At work I drink *at least* three 16 oz cups of water during the day. Then at home I have a 32 oz cup and I make sure to drink at least two of those during dinner and the rest of the evening. That's over 100 fl. oz. I don't drink coffee or soda. Occasionally I make hot tea. Water is it, for the most part. I do drink a glass…

I agree with @cathipa - if you are a picky eater, asking for suggestions are moot. I'm a picky eater too, but if I ask for suggestions and everyone says "Broccoli! Mushrooms! Beans!" I'd say, "Thanks but no thanks," because I refuse to eat those things. However, I love Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and parsnips, which I'd…

I lost 22 pounds via walking as my only exercise, and just sticking to 1700 calories a day - not necessarily "clean eating." Walking is just as good as running. It doesn't burn calories as quickly, but it does burn calories. An hour walk for me burns ~400 calories. When I mix in some jogging intervals I can burn closer to…

Mine fluctuates A LOT. I have a weight loss spreadsheet that I update outside of MFP, and I have my PMS weeks marked with a red box so that when I get the big gain, I know its cause, knowing I'll have a whoosh week when I weigh-in the following week. I've learned to ignore whatever number is going to pop up the week of the…
