  • 11 AF 4 "less" 13 drinking That's today's update. Second half of the month not quite as good as first, but it's not too bad (unlike covid home schooling!!)
  • 10 AF 3 "less" (usually just the one) 13 drinking Covid and home schooling have got the better of me, but had I not been checking in here, I'd quite probably only have had 4 AF days by now. I'm learning a lot about myself, and actually thinking before drinking, which is new. Still a few days to go, but I'm liking the idea…
  • Dydd Santes Dwynwen Hapus - Happy St Dwynwen's Day! (Welsh equivalent of Valentines) It's also Burns Night. I'm half Welsh, half Scottish. So have had wine, although not overdone it. Aiming for AF tomorrow and will add running total then xx
  • 10 AF 2 "less" 11 drinking I didn't post yesterday. Instead I drank and fell asleep on the sofa. Due to that, today has been AF. I tested Covid positive yesterday, to join my daughter. Confirmed by PCR from work today. I'm fine, just a head cold and mild fever. Nothing that would normally keep me off work, but I'm banished…
  • 9 AF 2 "less" 10 drinking Today should have been AF. However, I got home from work 8pm to find 7yr old daughter unwell. Tested her and she has Covid and is actually quite unwell considering we don't see many symptomatic kids. I'm a paramedic. So I had to call work, arrange testing for me tomorrow morning, message the…
  • Drink day today since we went to a nice restaurant for lunch for DH birthday, then came home and had more this evening. It's fine, will do AF or "just one" tomorrow. 9 days AF 1 day "just one" 10 drink days
  • Checking in again... Well, yesterday was a planned drink day but I admit I overdid it. No idea how much, but it was too much. On the upside, today was a planned drink day too, but I decided to go AF to atone for yesterday's indulgence. The old me would have drowned my sorrows tonight. Instead I had a nice AF beer and a…
  • Daily check in: 8 drink days 1 less drink day (1 glass) 8 AF days I plan to drink tomorrow and Weds (my "weekend" this week on my crazy shift pattern). Thurs was planned AF but we're celebrating DH's birthday (it's actually Friday but I'll be out of the house 14hrs for work on Friday) so will plan for "less" on Thurs…
  • Lilylady, we're in a very similar position I think. Drinking usually involves 3 wines for me, so on "reduced" days I aim for just one. I'm AF again today. Running total: 8 days drinking 1 day reduced drinking 7 days AF Still aiming for 12-15 AF days, and like you, I'm on track 😊
  • Hi, all, just checking in. Running total including today: 8 normal drinking 1 much reduced drinking 6 AF AF will continue for a couple of days since I'm working, so I can't count that as a win, since I wouldn't drink anyway when working nights. What will be a win, however, is if I get to Friday with only a couple of drink…
  • Well done Mouse potato! My thinking is every day AF or reduced is a win. In fact every glass not drank is a win. Tonight I had wine. Probably too much. And nibbles. But tomorrow and for the next 4 days I will have none. Dry January is a great concept. I did it 3 yrs ago, but it didn't help my relationship with alcohol. I…
  • Drank last night and will tonight. This is OK, it's planned, sort of my weekend due to crazy shifts. Then plan AF until Tuesday. Accountability round up (including today) 8 normal drink days 1 very much reduced drink day 4 AF
  • I am choosing AF today. For various reasons I will choose to drink tomorrow and Thurs. I am remaining mindful, and my ultimate aim is to make wine something I choose to have, rather something I have to choose *not* to have. 4 days AF 1 day half normal 6 days normal. Revised aim at least 12 AF days
  • @missMay thank you for the encouragement. I get 4 glasses (or 3 large ones) from a bottle, so yes it's progress. If counting units, it's significant! Tonight we'll see. I'd like a drink BUT also have a good reason not to. DH is leaving early for work tomorrow so I have to do the school run, which means being up, dressed,…
  • It's been a struggle, but I'm declaring AF for today 🙂 Running total 3 days AF 1 day half usual 6 days usual I'm not at work until Friday night so the 3 AF days would probably have been a bottle of wine a night if I'm being honest, so it's some progress!
  • AF here tonight. Over indulged at the weekend which I kind of knew would happen, so giving myself a break. Running total: 2 AF 1 half usual intake 6 normal The ratio will improve when I'm back on shift next weekend, starting with 4 night shifts!
  • It's the weak-end. Stay strong! My aim today, no alcohol before 6.30. I'd probably have started by now normally. As stated, my goal is to reduce, not quit. Decided aim for January is 10 AF days, 10 less than I'd usually have, and 10 normal. Doesn't matter what "less than normal" is for now - one drink less is one drink…
  • Remaining mindful here. Finished a shift, home 5.30. Normal me would have opened a bottle at 5.30 and be halfway through it by now. Mindful me put dinner in the oven and went for a 2.5 mile run. Now drinking a pint of water. I will have a drink tonight, there's half a bottle on the side, but it's definitely *less alcohol*
  • Hi all, I think I'll keep an eye on this thread. A little about me... I drink too much. Wine, almost exclusively. Anything stronger makes me feel very sick, and has done since I had a child 8yrs ago. I don't want to stop, I enjoy a glass (ok, bottle) of the stuff, but I *do* need to cut down. Things that need addressing:…
  • You know what? I used the excuse of "menopausal weight gain" for over a year to brush off the increase in belly fat and the persistent slow uptick on the scales. Until this summer, when I declared "enough is enough" when realising I was the same weight as after giving birth and my clothes didn't fit. I returned to MFP,…
  • I'm 5'7, in the UK. Starting MFP I was 153lb, and size 10 UK/ size 6 US was getting too tight. Didn't want to buy the size 12/8 clothes I really needed, so lost the weight. I'm now hovering around 130lb and in size 8 UK/ size 4 US. Jeans sometimes a size up depending on the fit.
  • I don't usually comment on posts but WOW!! You look amazing. Young, fit, healthy, hot!!!
  • Before summer, I couldn't get into my wetsuit, so I ordered a larger size. The new one was fine for summer but definitely thinner. Last week a friend invited me camping by a lake in her van and suggested swimming. I took a chance and only packed the old, warmer suit (it's late October!!) hoping I might squeeze into it. It…
  • I think you need to take back a bit of control. Why do you have to eat rotis? If you want to eat with family that's fine, but swap a roti for a small low fat wrap (those I use are 93 kcal). If you have time, make the curry low cal/low fat too. Made in advance it should be possible. My family do pizza on a Saturday night. I…
  • 6 weeks to lose a stone, rigidly logging food and lots of cardio exercise. Another half stone to go, but I'm upping my calorie allowance now, since I think I was losing too fast despite eating back all exercise calories and sticking to MFP's recommendations. I'm expecting that final half stone to take at least 6, if not 8…
  • Hi, don't be too hard on yourself! Several yrs ago I had similar post baby weight to lose. When daughter was 6 months, I had a PT for 3 months. Plan was pay attention to food intake but not stress, continue breastfeeding, twice weekly workouts. Exercise and sensible eating worked just fine, but it was a long slog. I'm back…
  • Hi, I'm also in the UK, I live in the countryside and regularly walk/run through the fields and woods alone, in the dark if necessary. My take on it is this: In an area with few people, why on earth would a potential attacker hang out in the cold and dark on the off chance someone would walk past? The only people out and…
  • I'm in Warwickshire. Don't post much, but try to keep an eye on the community pages from time to time
  • I can't seem to access the group. I clicked Join, then a box came up asking me why I wanted to join. Filled that in, but still can't see group posts. When I go to it on the groups list, the Join button is gone, but there is still text saying click join to view messages. I'm confused!!
  • FWIW, start weight 152, current weight 145, goal 133 by 1st Dec (to give me time to fit into nice clothes!!)
