Happy TGIF, everybody. I discovered a vacuvin-ed Chardonnay in my fridge this week, I guess DH opened last weekend. It’s been tempting me a little this week but I held off for tonight. I hope it’s still good. If not I’ll open something different that I really like. Or maybe I’ll make room in my calories for hot cocoa. That sounds pretty good!3

18 AF/21days. I went for to the PCR test appt. yesterday only to arrive and see a "Sorry No Covid Testing today". Apparently, staff was out sick. I was furious. I guess the Universe is telling me this is just not going to happen. Sometimes one has to just go with the flow.
For anyone feeling "stuck"..see if planning fun activities this weekend helps to pull yourself out of a rut. Something fun and away from where the stresses are....and at the same time it can be an opportunity to de-stress. Grab onto a new stress-coping habit that's good for you and it will be easier to let go of the bad one.
Kombucha night for me.

@globalhiker I hope you can get out and enjoy the sunshine a little bit. I am still struggling with fatigue, sneezing and a runny nose. A walk outside and some time on the lounger at least seem to boost my mood a bit. Hoping you feel better soon!

Today should have been AF. However, I got home from work 8pm to find 7yr old daughter unwell. Tested her and she has Covid and is actually quite unwell considering we don't see many symptomatic kids. I'm a paramedic. So I had to call work, arrange testing for me tomorrow morning, message the student I'm mentoring, message a colleague to take my student for the weekend, email the school and message her friends. Oh, and cook dinner since it's DH's birthday! After all that I thought "sod it" and drank.
On the plus side, I limited alcohol, and finished off with a can of AF mojito. It could have been a lot worse!12 -
@Turtlemummy so sorry to hear your daughter has covid. I hope she recovers quickly. Glad you were able to limit the damage.4

Hello to everyone,
been a bit MIA, lots going on in my neck of the woods. The wagon was so steady for a long time but this week it took off like a shot. Ah well my choices, my decisions, no regrets.
I have on my mirror in my bathroom that I read every morning. Be grateful for 3 things AND don't sweat the small stuff. Right now the couple of drinks I had was 'small stuff'
@Turtlemummy it is never great to hear your child is sick, no matter what it is from. Take care of yourself too!
@globalhiker Think I may take you up on the 'getting away' thing this weekend. If I can find someplace within a 4 hour drive we are there (well as long as it does not involve driving over any one of the passes)
@MissMay I am so ready for drama to be done LOL.
So today I cooked a meatloaf and a full sized pan of lasagna to portion out and put in the freezer. Along with prep about 10lb of chicken breasts. Was busy all afternoon. No to sip my tea and find an overnight destination
The sock family are going to be painting this weekend

4 cans of Diet Coke again today. The fatigue was real. I did take 2 walks totaling 5 1/2 miles or who know how many I would have drank.
Happy Weekend everyone. Oh and Go Pack Go for any of you NFL fans out there. Going to be cold in Green Bay tomorrow night. Hopefully it works in their favor against the 49ers.

My first AF Friday night in ages. I mixed up some essential oils that are supposed to prevent melt downs, and have been rubbing it all over me. One day at a time. Day 5 being AF and DH hasn’t even noticed. Tonight he asked me what I had in my glass and it was kombucha.🙄 My dessert was lemon water.
Have a good weekend everyone!
@lmlmrn - I hope the socks have fun painting!!!!😀5 -

I'm having a celebratory glass of soda stream in a fancy glass. It's empowering to reprogram those Friday nights, celebrations, stressful days, socializing, etc, not to *require* alcohol.4 -
Hi all,
A quick check in … still going strong 💪
Life’s been a little hectic so not checked in as much as I’d have liked. I have a nice relaxed weekend planned though which I’m looking forward to.
Running total Jan
19days AF
2x days planned drinks (very much reduced amount from previous)
1x day with an unplanned glass of Prosecco with lunch out (Don’t regret it 😉)
Hope everyone is doing well and I’ll catch up later this weekend.5 -
18 AF/21 days. My first Kombucha yesterday was a store brand lemon ginger. The effervescence and tartness was very good and it did not give me any tummy issues. It tasted like a margarita with some white vinegar plus nutrasweet. Drinkable, yes, but repeat - not this brand.
I do have 2 others on today's shopping list: Synergy Trilogy (has Raspberry and I like that) and Kevita Dragonfruit Lemongrass. Both seem to have 30 cals for half a bottle - trying to stick to any of the lower sugar ones. I can't do fake sugars - and I don't care for stevia.
Since I cut out sugar years ago, most items to me taste way, way too sweet-and I get physically queasy. Strange right?
@lmlmrn I hope you find your sunshine this weekend. I am sooo looking forward to going out today and getting my exercise and sunshine.
Today I work on doing things that make me happy.3 -
Is it too early in the day to enjoy a fine stemmed glass delight?
NEVER !
Non fat vanilla yogurt, fresh cantaloupe and ground flax seeds is my morning cocktail smoothie.

Almost had a drink tonight and told myself I could just quit posting here if i went down a rabbit hole. Then I thought this is a commitment to me not to the group on MFP. I am happily drinking my Cranberry Diet5 and Pellegrino while watching the Packers.
Thanks for being the initial impetus to not drink, but glad I reframed it as a commitment to ME!9 -

Hi all!
Well, that completely sucked. I’m finally feeling better, but Covid totally nailed me for 7-8 days. Now I’m just trying to get my stamina back. I understand that fatigue is common, and I am definitely experiencing it. So, I am learning to pace myself, which is hard when you’re a Type A personality!
The upside is that I’ve not had a desire for alcohol- or food for that matter. I’m under my goal weight now, but I know a lot of that is muscle atrophy, which isn’t good. I’m going to take this opportunity to make better choices with my diet so that when I re-gain, it’s musculature and not puffy fat. Bring on the protein and veggies! Woo hoo!9 -
18 AF/22 days. I went shopping yesterday, finally feeling almost like my usual self and came home with goodies - not only kombucha but chips, chocolate, and wine. Once home, I made a nice shrimp dinner but my appetite was not there. I didn't rip open the bag of chips and barely tasted one chocolate before getting putting it way. Appetite is not back.
But, I drank the wine, all of it! My husband had fallen asleep on me at 6:30 pm and I was just drinking to keep myself company on a Sat. night. It didn't give me great joy and I didn't need to relax. I think it was 1) habit 2) available and 3) I went into a "I don't care" mood.
Note to self: Every time somebody does something to me that I don't like, put on the headphones and go read. I don't need to react by drinking wine. I need to be nicer to myself.
Starting the day today on the right foot and going for a long run.............7 -
@Womona glad you are on the upswing! It's hard when the brain says "go" and body says "no".3

Yesterday we met up with a few other couples at a local pub.
Ok NEW favorite non-alcoholic beverage to drink out of a stemmed glass. I know it says grapefruit on it, and that can usually be bitter. But this one IS NOT BITTER. Has just the right amount of fizz and balanced flavor. I am hoping I can find this at other places when out.

Last night was my 6th AF night in a row and it was a Saturday night even. Warm lemon water is comforting in the winter.
@MissMay - that looks good! My favorite kombucha I make is made with green tea and flavored with pink grapefruit.
@Womona and @globalhiker - I hope you both can get back to your healthy selves soon!4 -

@globalhiker I used to have the same reaction as you when ANYONE (esp:DH) would say or do something to upset me.
Then I started thinking, ok they already made me mad, and they are still making me mad, by me getting upset with myself in retaliation.
The vicious cycle. 😡
Treating ourselves better at that very momet is important.

WHOA....look who's getting in AF days in a row. Nice job!
Oh the kombucha 😋 watermelon wonder is my go to right now. I also for some odd reason like the one with turmeric in it. Not a fan of ginger anything. I have yet to taste homemade kombucha, yours sounds good.4 -
@dawnbgethealthy your lucky to be able to skate. Such a great calorie burning activity. I love doing skaters lunges in some of my BeachBody workouts.3

I didn't post yesterday. Instead I drank and fell asleep on the sofa. Due to that, today has been AF.
I tested Covid positive yesterday, to join my daughter. Confirmed by PCR from work today. I'm fine, just a head cold and mild fever. Nothing that would normally keep me off work, but I'm banished until next Monday.
AF will be a challenge while stuck at home, but I'll still post until the end of the month and stay accountable. I'm actually fairly impressed with myself for the tally above!
Edit: Another small victory... I did fancy a glass of wine with dinner, so opened the AF wine I'd picked up a while ago. It was vile. Smelt like mouldy vinegar and tasted like blackcurrant juice (which I hate!). DH had my glass, and I went to open a proper....
:.... AF beer 🤣. Victory!7 -

Went back to the frozen tundra today for a bit. Going to be hard not to drink when there isn't much too do here in the winter! I will prevail though. Need to get to the store and get my Cranberry Diet5.6
