  • I disagree with removing junk food - I think you should have some accessible junk food in the house to show that it is not a "bad" food. If you restrict all naughty stuff she will secretly binge when out of the house. Educate as to how to enjoy in moderation but don't remove all that food entirely. My mum never bought any…
  • I killed my iphone by dropping it in the toilet. I tried using my work phone today to sync my fitbit but it won't work. Its a windows phone and I can't even get MFP to work on it. So annoyed. I now have to wait until I get home to sync my fitbit with my Laptop. #firstworldproblems
  • You're totally right of course, that was mean. I wasn't thinking. Sorry to the person who posted their lunch.
  • I make enchiladas with a cheesy chicken filling and a homemade tomato chilli sauce on top baked in the oven. I love it. So the sauce is really low in cals as its onions, garlic, green chillies, coriander (cilantro), tomatoes. A little oil for cooking the onions but you can avoid that entirely if you want to. The filling…
  • Sorry I disappeared from this discussion. I managed to highly process my phone in a toilet.
  • I didn't say anything was wrong with rib meat it was just one of the ingredients. Are you aware that your responses sound like you're jumping down my throat or is that the intended response to my enquiry?
  • I'm sure that's true I've just never seen it or tried it. Ok so someone who regularly eats canned chicken of the normal salt content variety. Assuming they also have other high salt foods in their diet will surely be less healthy for example high blood pressure than someone who avoids processed high salt foods? The one I…
  • Well choose any other processed food. I don't mind I'm just interested.
  • While I love fermented foods, and most people are fine, be aware of any reactions as fermentation can increase the histamine levels in food and cause some interesting side effects.
  • I don't think they sell canned chicken breast in the UK. It sounds revolting and having just looked it up it looks it too. Also 11% salt. I fear for your blood pressure. I realise it might be cheaper than an actual chicken breast but I would definitely go for something else rather than anything that processed.
  • I haven't tried it yet but I have an idea for breakkie for the next few days. I'm going to knock up a batch of Huevos Rancheros sauce with some veggie options so I'm going to add kale and chillies and courgette (zucchini) as I'm allergic to bell peppers I haven't decided whether to add some black beans or not. Then I'm…
  • Ryvita crackerbreads with smoked fish and cottage cheese.
  • Ahhh thanks, so I probably effectively ate well over my actual allowance lol. This isn't an issue, as I think i'll still maintain a deficit for last week, but I wouldn't want to repeat it too often. Not least because I felt so ill after eating fatty/sugary junk.
  • I'm going to make my own baked scotch eggs tonight. Because I need a healthy protein hit that I can grab and go with in the mornings to keep me going until lunch I thought I'd give it a go. I'll let you know how they turn out tomorrow. ETA: I don't know whether to add lentils to my sausage meat to limit the fat content.…
  • I make a hot drink and watch something engrossing on TV, or if I've caught up on everything I will get out a film I love and watch that. It takes my mind off food. It won't work for those who are used to munching while watching TV.
  • ummm...learn Being a man is no excuse for not knowing how to use kitchen appliances. :D
  • I summarised very quickly one study. There are others. Many many others. There is evidence that addiction to certain foods is based in physiology not just psychology or environmental factors although these have influence too. I also didn't mean that food has the same intoxication effect at all I meant that it triggers the…
  • Actually food can have the same effect on the brain as alcohol and animal studies have shown that high sugar/high fat food surpasses cocaine as a reward. Its all about dopamine. Personally I think food is addictive particularly for those people who eat as a crutch for something else. It can be really hard to curb those…
  • Mine is completely open but I don't think anyone would bother looking. They might raise an eyebrow at my choice of breakfasts lately. I've found that eating meaty things in the morning keeps me going until lunch whereas porridge doesn't. I've not had time to go shopping so I've been grabbing easy things on the way to work.…
  • Excellent website, thank you x

  • Annnnd..we have some more "tough Love" type posts. Empathy people, empathy!! I have been through years of "f**k it, pass the pizza, because I didn't care enough. Now there are some things I care about and I had to face up to it. Last year I was ill for four months and then developed a bad back. I had to tell my friends no…
  • I bet Localgrr really regrets starting this thread. Some of you get the need for us to have a moan and whine a bit and have joined in and some of you just choose to use this thread to effectively tell us we're awful people for having a bit of light hearted whingeing about how hard it is to lose weight. That goes for…
  • This *applause* I'm your fellow hangry person today!! ETA: look on the Brightside with all your trips to the bathroom you'll be building up those activity calories!
  • I'm actually on 1640 which is reasonable but I guess I'm used to eating much more than that.
  • Tamagoyaki for breakfast which is a Japanese omelette. Delicious. Snacks were carrot and hummus, a clementine and an apple. Lunch was a super whole foods salad - pre bought as I woke up late and didn't have time to prepare anything. Dinner will be Aubergine (eggplant) roasted with tomato and mozzarella
  • Fresh fish doesn't smell. Also try making a salmon or white fish curry. That will mask most of the fishiness.

  • Thank you. It doesn't help that I am so bored at work there is nothing to take my mind off how hungry I am.
  • and the prize for stating the bleeding obvious goes to........ :p
  • Hey, you know what, I think we all know why we are here and accept that we have to change our lifestyle to get to where we want to be. However on days like today where I feel like I'm starving, its ok to have a bit of a moan. Particularly if having a bit of a moan stops me from saying *kitten* it and eating the contents of…
  • Tell that to my stomach! Height has nothing to do with how quickly you get full. Which is why there are obese short people. I agree with the original sentiment it sucks being short. I need more calories! lol I'm assuming my stomach will get used to having less in it and shrink appropriately. Please let this be soon!
