Not a lot of self-care lately, except for taking care of my sick self. I've had a cold or something since Friday and I've been feeling awful. Yesterday I was able to walk enough steps. Today I have like, zero energy and breathing is still a bit difficult so I don't know if I'll get all my steps today. I do need to shower…

That's a lot of water...

Well, I tried. I really did. But the urge to eat in the middle of the night won again. I've tried just about everything to stop this behavior. I don't even keep snacks or junk food in the house. Yet I always find something to eat, even if I have to physically put it together or cook it. Yes, I've cooked in the middle of…

Starting my October self-care by joining another challenge! It's the "Say NO to late-night snacking" challenge. I have a huge problem where I wake up in the middle of the night and eat, and I need to get a handle on that problem, for my own mental health (and physical too). Hoping that having a little accountability will…

OK. I really need this challenge now. My biggest problem is, I wake up in the middle of the night and eat. I seem to have zero control over it... I just wake up and go into auto-pilot mode and head downstairs to the kitchen and eat whatever I can find. It's immensely frustrating for me, because I go to bed each night…

I use Loop Habit Tracker. So far it's really been helping.

I love the Great British Bake Off!! I watched four seasons of in like two weeks. Now theres a fifth season on Netflix that I'm dying to get to. Chetna was one of my favorite contestants, her and Nadiya who both loved to kick up the flavor.

I am in for October! I've got my habit tracker app ready to go and I'm going to checking off all those healthy habits! Also, October is my favorite time of year, so I have some fun activities planned!

You wanna hear something funny, listen to me talk. I'm from Chicago. Think that SNL "Da Bears" sketch. That's me.

I've been on Lexapro for years. I was able to lose a significant amount of weight while still taking it. Everyone is different, though. Different people react differently to the same meds. For example, I also take Abilify, which has been touted to be weight-neutral, but it caused me to gain back about 30 pounds of what I…

My fiance turned me on to an app that tracks your habits and helps you to create new, healthy ones. It's called "Loop Habit Tracker" and you use it to create reminders for yourself to do the things you need or want to do. Since I have a lot of trouble sticking with routine chores such as showering, brushing my teeth, etc.,…

https://qz.com/quartzy/1401295/ultra-marathons-what-does-running-100-miles-do-to-your-body/ Interesting read about ultramarathons. (Hi everyone)

I was able to lose weight while on Lexapro. As long as you log your food and exercise regularly, you shouldn't have an issue. These medications sometimes increase your appetite, which admittedly makes it hard to stay within your calories, but it's not impossible! I've been on Lexapro for years. It's the only med that works…

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Right now I do take melatonin to help me sleep, but I still wake up a lot, so I think I might need something stronger. Next time I see my doctor I will ask about it. I used to meditate with an app called Headspace, but I haven't done it in a really long time. Now might be a good time…

Another rough night last night. I've been stress eating a lot lately, especially in the middle of the night. I have no idea why I do this, but I just wake up and go eat then go back to bed. If I could find a way to keep from waking up several times a night in the first place, I could probably solve the problem. Until then,…

Yesterday wasn't the best day. I spent too long indulging my depression. Didn't even take a shower. Just lay in bed listening to the radio all night. I did get 15,000 steps during the day yesterday though, so that was good. Today I feel a little better. Got up early and did some work, then took the shower I was supposed to…

Today's self care: Took a walk (absolutley beautiful day today) to the dollar store and had a look at their fall decor. Bought a couple of things that made me smile. Didn't spend that much. Came home and was hungry, so I had a honeycrisp apple with some peanut butter. My favorite snack. I've been trying to do more mindful…

My self care today was going for a nice long walk around a lovely park, then coming home and having pumpkin spice chai tea with almond milk (YUM). My fiance is currently out doing geek stuff, so I am now sitting in bed under my weighted blanket, snuggling my cat and listening to baseball on the radio. For anyone with…

@donimfp What a fantastic idea! I am going to try that.

As a person with severe depression and anxiety, I'm glad I found this thread today. I've been really working on self-care. When my symptoms get bad it's difficult for me to even get out of bed. Doing stuff like showering, washing my hair, brushing my teeth, eating healthy, etc. seems impossible. But I know that if I do…

Heh, I've done that on several occasions too (I'm in Illinois where it's pretty much every man for himself out there). I enjoy watching the looks on their faces when they think they hit something.

Not doing so well. Had a bad reaction to the new meds over the weekend and have been recovering ever since. Switched back to old meds. Getting better little by little but damn am I exhausted. Suffice to say I think this month is borked. Still rooting for all of you though. Go you!

You had to ask? I am an INTJ or INFJ depending on who's giving the test. Slytherin, patronus is an impala, apple wood with dragon heart string core, 12.5" and supple flexibility. Slytherin? Really?! Eh, maybe...

Another medication change. So far the side effects are tolerable but it takes 4-6 weeks for this med to be fully effective and in the meantime it's been a roller coaster ride with my emotions and anxiety levels. Came to the realization that I just don't have the spoons to run regularly anymore. Sometimes it's even…

In my ongoing search to find something that will help me run without pain, I am trying a new pair of shoes from Kuru. These are the Carerras. Love the color. But will they help me run without pain? We shall see. They're supposed to conform to the shape of your feet after a little bit of breaking in. The Carerras are…

Love you, @Orphia You always know what to say.

Question for my fellow gluten-free peeps: Do you find that, when you accidentally ingest gluten, that it affects your energy levels? I ate some udon noodles over the weekend, thinking, "Just once won't kill me," and for the last three days I have been downright exhausted. Like, to the point of I can barely get a walk in,…

Sometimes I run on the mill even when it's perfectly nice outside. Why? Fewer people in my house than out in the real world. I am a hardcore agoraphobic. It takes quite the effort to get my butt outside. And what happens the first time I run outside in a long time? I aggravate my hip bursitis again. Nope, them…

Hey everyone, just popping in to say good luck to all my running buddies! I managed to injure my hip YET AGAIN so August might be a little iffy for me. My main goal this month is to find a pair of shoes or orthotics that won't give me this !@#$% hip pain. I'll mostly be watching from the sidelines and trying not to get too…

Folks, I'm going to be leaving the Monthly Running Challenge group. I'm just too frustrated with my running at present and seeing all of you logging miles is making me feel inadequate and jealous. It's not good for me. I don't plan to stop running, even though it's driving me crazy right now. Things are looking up a bit…
