Well folks, it looks like this challenge might be toast for me. I found out yesterday that I'm losing my job in December. Very depressed right now, and when I'm depressed my appetite goes into overdrive. It was a valiant effort. But the next two months are going to be absolute hell.

Yesterday, a bunch of us at my company got notices that we are all being laid off in 60 days. Over half the company got notices. It was a very sad day for a lot of people, including me. Bad enough that we're getting laid off, made worse by the fact that we still have to show up for work for another two months knowing that…

Another successful night last night. Getting a little more confident. Still haven't strung more than one night together, but they're starting to come a little more frequently. Me: 5 LNS: 10

Bowling is good for the soul, I always say. I bowl in a weekly league on Friday nights, and I always look forward to it. I'm currently carrying a 181 average. My whole family bowls, even my 14-year-old son, who is actually better than I am. Haven't been doing too well with my habit tracker... the reminders aren't…

Fun fact: I was a floral designer for 15 years before I had the job I have now. Flowers are one of the things that make me happiest in this world. Your designs are very beautiful. I love the colors. I especially like the spiders and the little gourds.

Good news. The double dose of sleep meds seems to be working. I only woke up once last night, and all I did was get up and go to the bathroom. I am very happy I was able to make it through a night without eating. Now let's see if we can string some more nights together. Me: 3 LNS: 8

I would like to put in some miles for Dennis, but the trouble is I have no idea what my schedule will be like this weekend so I can't sign up for a definite time slot. But I will dedicate whatever I do on Sunday to him.

So when I hit a crisis mode in my mental health, I usually do something to my appearance. I'll change my hair, get a tattoo, piercing, something like that. I've been nearing crisis mode again with my night eating problems and general sleep issues (which the medication is not helping), so.... I got a new piercing. Totally…

So the sleep meds my doctor prescribed just aren't working. I am still getting up several times a night and eating. Texted her today explaining the situation and she said to go ahead and double the dosage. Stay tuned. Me: 2 LNS: 7

I have to figure out when the heck I'm going to run. I am going through YET ANOTHER medication change. I now have something to help me sleep better, trouble is I feel like a zombie when I wake up in the morning, so running in the a.m. is out. I am also a zombie when I get home from work, so running in the p.m. is out.…

@sarahthes Snow?!?!?! SNOW!!!!?!? It's currently 82 degrees F here. Although, it is supposed to get down into the 40s by the weekend. Gotta love October in Chicago.

I'm adjusting to a couple of new medications right now so it's all about the self-care. Keeping a close eye on how I react to the meds, as I have a really bad track record with side effects. So far, nothing major, but it's been my experience that I have to give it at least a week before I can decide if it's going to work…

I am on Abilify presently. It made me gain about 30 pounds in the first few months. It just makes me want to eat everything in sight. Unfortunately, though, it is the only antipsychotic that actually works for me, so I have to deal with it. In order to try to keep me from gaining any more weight, my psychiatrist reduced my…

Went to the doctor on Saturday. We discussed my eating in the middle of the night problem. She agreed that I should probably have something that will help me sleep through the night. She also agreed that it was the Abilify that I take that's been causing me to have these problems. I don't want to go off the Abilify,…

Thursday was such a beautiful fall day, and I was working from home so I took full advantage of the day. I got a ton of housework done while waiting for emails to come in. At lunch, I did a run/walk from my C25K program. Then I worked a bit more, then decided to take another walk in the afternoon. I had almost 17,000 steps…

@lorrainequiche59 Thank you for your comments and suggestions! The banana idea sounds good. I also toyed with the idea of just having a cup of herbal tea when I wake up, but then I worry it'll wake me up later having to pee. Last night I didn't eat. I was really exhausted and went to bed early and really didn't wake up at…

@AlphaHowls I have an honest question for you. How do you log that kind of mileage and not have any major issues with injury? As soon as I started running HMs, that's when my hip started giving me trouble. I haven't been able to get past the 13 mile mark, and I've never been able to do back-to-back double digit runs. I'm…

The verdict is in. The officer has been found guilty of second-degree murder, among other counts. This is good news... there will be peace in Chicago for the marathon. I would hate to be on that jury, though. What a tough case. Edit - Apparently MFP didn't like the officer's name and gave it the kitten treatment.
-
So there's been a huge murder trial going on here in Chicago the past week or so (Cop killed a young man... there have been protesters all over the place during the trial.). The closing arguments were yesterday and the jury has been deliberating ever since. The police are expecting riots if people don't like the verdict.…

I just joined this thread 16 pages in, so forgive me if this has been discussed before, but... Is anyone here doing the Chicago Marathon this weekend?

Avocados!!!!! I could seriously live off of good tortilla chips with my homemade guacamole.

I ran a sub-10 minute mile once. Once. That was a good run. Anyway, welcome. I don't have any advice for improving your pace, seeing as how I'm pushing 13 minutes these days. But I'm sure other people on here can help.

"Stabby Death Needles" is now the new name of my band.

HEY GUYS GUESS WHAT I went for a run today. It wasn't that hard. Well, kind of. It was C25k week 1 day 2. 30 minutes, 2 miles. Walked for an additional mile after that. Hoping to stay on with C25k and get back into it just in time to retreat indoors again. It's okay though. we have cable TV now. And Netflix. I'm…

Update: I just lit an apple-pumpkin candle. I love fall!

Hmm. I wonder if meditation can help with my own sleep issues...

Hey everyone guess what Me: 1 LNS: 1 Hooray! Now I just need to get a streak going.

Yep, tried that. Doesn't work. :( Tried just about everything I can think of short of chaining myself to the bed to keep myself out of the kitchen at night, but my auto-pilot just takes over. It's extremely frustrating.
