I've been in maintenance for about 2 years and got a nice boost the other day. I was out for dinner with a group of people and the man I was sitting next to, whom I'd never met before, asked me what my sport was. He looked at my arms and said that I was clearly an athlete. Wish I had something more interesting to tell him…

Down 55 pounds! Feeling better than I've felt in years, and stronger than I've ever been! Pictures on the left are 2014-15ish, and pictures on the right are last week!

I saw a video today that I made about a year and a half and 55 pounds ago. I often don't see a huge difference in how I look, especially in my face, but... Wow.

You can totally do this! I found it really helped to realize that time was going to pass, and it could pass with me getting bigger or getting smaller. It meant that I didn't focus on wanting to weigh less right away and could focus on just making good choices each day, and knowing that one off day wasn't "the end", it was…

I've been at this for a little over a year, lost just over 50 pounds, and am figuring out maintenance now. My workout, which is usually about 3 days a week, almost always involves some cardio and some weight training, and this hasn't changed when I moved from losing to maintenance. I also haven't made any changes to my…

I have two to report today: 1) Apparently I have oblique abdominal muscles. Who knew?! I was standing with my hands on my hips and when I took a step I felt the muscles on my sides engage in a way I've never felt before. Guess all that core work is paying off! 2) Yesterday my 15 year old daughter riffled through a basket…

Yes! Me, too! Freezing all the time and my butt hurts when I sit a lot. About 50 pounds down.

I'd agree that you may need to adjust your calorie goals a little bit. I also found that there were times I'd hang at one number for a week or two and then suddenly it would change a lot and then keep going down. If you adjust your calorie targets a little bit and then just make sure you're meeting them then the weight…
Thanks I'm just worried that I wouldn't get where I want to be by the way my schedule is and the budget we are on..
The thing that helped me is realizing that I wasn't in any rush. The time is going to pass, and my weight can either go up, stay the same, or go down. So I set MFP for just 1/2 pound loss per…

Great work! Keep it up!

Thanks for the info and ideas!

Congratulations yourself, and good luck!

Thanks for sharing your experience. Hope you're over your crud now, and good luck with your maintenance plan!

I'm with you - honest logging is crucial. It's really helped me realize that nothing is off limits, and has changed my whole perspective on going to the gym - I love that I can "buy" guilt-free calories with just half an hour on the elliptical, for example. And if I don't hit my goal for one day, it's just that - one day.…

Thanks! Sounds like you've set very reasonable goals. That's been key for me - I'm not going to make it to the gym every day, but my goal is at least 3 times a week, and do other active things on other days, and that feels sustainable to me. Good luck! Looking forward to reading your success story next summer!

Happy birthday! Keep up the good work!

Good luck! You can totally do this!

It's definitely possible! You can do this!
-
Thank you! :-)

Thanks! Your determination will get you there!

1) I've tried to be very realistic. My goal is to get to the gym 3 days a week. If I make it more, great; if not, no guilt. (But see my comment below about going to the gym.) My goal is to hit my calorie limit most days. If I'm on vacation, I'm a little more lax. 2) Nothing is forbidden. Everything in moderation. As I've…

Congratulations! You can totally do this!

Well done! You look great!

Bravo! And love your attitude!

I'll be donating them, along with my kids' outgrown clothes. For business clothes, think about finding an organization that provides business attire for low income women who are trying to get into the workforce.

At work today a client I met just a few weeks ago noticed a group photo I'm in that was taken about 18 months ago. He said, "Is that you in that picture out there?! Wow! I've known people who have lost some weight but that's amazing! Most people can't do that!" A very welcome bright spot in an otherwise difficult day.

Mine too! And my rings are spinning on my fingers - gotta do something about that!

If these were palazzo pants it would be a whole different (very cool) story. Sadly, all of mine are just huge thighs that taper toward the ankle. And one pair is corduroy. Definitely beyond salvation.

I did 50 pushups last night - 5 sets of 10. Never thought that was ever, ever possible! It wasn't actually that bad to do, but I'll admit I'm just a little sore today...
