Guys lol! This post is about the reported health benefits of dark chocolate 70%+ I mentioned the point about the funny looks I got from eating dark chocolate because I was trying to signify that some people pre-conceived ideas about good and bad food. The fact I was eating 2 squares of dark chocolate in a clean changing…

@marm1962 I also have a protein shake breakfast (early morning starts and just easy) I supplement my breakfast shake with a greens powder helps me keep on top of fibre etc I will say though it does have a distinct taste and will alter the taste of your shake. Adding a scoop of PB helps for me.
-
Just for the record I do cook with it but I'm curious if it damages it or decreases the protein content in any way.

If you go to a gym that has good personal trainers ask them how to perform the exercises properly. I'm assuming from your original post that your new to weight lifting and your year out may have possibly been an injury? If not please tell me to shut up! lol My reasoning being that if you learn them properly the first time…

I think we all need a bit more information from the OP to properly be able to give better advice (age, training, lifestyle, etc) although some of what everyone says does have credibility. (Except Mr Supplments) Training consistancy is a big part as someone has already spoken about and diet needs to be consistant. A sound…

You can get fibre from almonds and sweet potato if you really want to cut out carbs. For the amount of sweet potato you can eat it's a very good trade of for the amount of carbs. But I think you should keep carbs to a minimum of at least 150g a day (just my opinion) you will still lose weight if you are in a calorie…

@joans1976 good for you! Happy for you

@stevencloser interesting,I'll look into which antioxidants your referring to I know cinnamon can do this. But on the whole, the point I was making do you agree/disagree? Which was why ignore potential health benefits foods can give you? As you may do you hear, supplement or herb or fruit can potentially decrease xyz and…

@Sued0nim ok yes I will agree that having an actual calories burned method, with using your websites or a Fitbit to give a genuine TDEE is better than using predetermined calculators, that estimate your calorie expenditure. But as I have said, this is a bit of advice for people who fluctuate in weight day to day and not to…
-
@VintageFeline ok fair enough if that works for you then all credit to you! I'm just trying to pass on a bit of advice that I think some people will find helpful. Best of luck with your fitness journey.
-
@Sued0nim Oh ok fair enough. But you calculate your TDEE and also log what you eat through this app...

This formula can be adapted over the course of weeks and months of needs be. Same principles just more data, which is what I'm guessing your websites do.

@Hiro_Protagonist very true and I've been guilty of it myself. But it's quite hard when your 20%+ of BF to see a pound of weight difference so I believe weighing yourself can give you a measurable result of what your doing is right (providing your honest with yourself and true to your diet). I also believe it's a good…

Ha ha but it's still chocolate Kate a bar a day will NOT keep the doctor away haha!

@rainbowbow I completely agree get the basics down first but I'm consistently hitting my macros and micronutrients so I'm now looking into more ways to add extra nutrients to my diet. But that's me, and like you say most people aren't getting the right calorie balance but to be ignorant to them (for want of a better word)…

@CooCooPuff & @SideSteel thank you for recommending sigma nutrition radio! Listen to 4 episodes already!

Not trying to undermine your point of view but, do you not think it's beneficial to know how certain food can benefit you in different ways. Maximising the content of your diet with food that has extra health benefits is a bit of a no brainer in my opinion.

@bower47 yes I am in it for the flavonoids and also the added bonus of the antioxidants. I eat blueberries and other fruits and vegetables. So you could say I'm getting enough but, in my humble opinion there is nothing wrong with eating more antioxidants and more flavonoids for the increased bloodflow and health benefits.…
-
@bower47 I'm reluctant to believe that I'm sorry, as no actual studies have been quoted and its journalism. I base my decisions on scientific research. http://examine.com/supplements/Cocoa+Extract/

@williammuney If it's accounted for why not?! Lol
-
Lol you obviously know why to eat it lol! Unless you googled it. But id like to think not ;)
-
To clarify I eat it in the changing room before I either use the sauna or get showered before I make my way home a 20min drive at peak times. By the time I get home I'm nearly fainting with hunger with being on a diet. I don't stand around the leg press eating chocolate lol

True, what I said was if you eat enough animal protein you don't need to supplement with BCAA.
-
@dykask it's fine mate I've only just started seeing the funny side of it myself.
-
Do NOT cut out salt! I made this mistake after taking some "bro" advice from a mate. He said salt/sodium leads to water retention so cut it out and you will dry up. So I did as told (without double checking this information) after a week of cutting salt to an absolute minimum step up to the squat rack and had the WORST…

Hi, I have done the low carb diet but not to the point where I'm eating less than 100g carbs. The truth is it works but so does low fat and so does having moderate carbs and moderate fat. The key factor in low carb low fat diets is the high protein. It's the higher protein that helps with the fat loss and being in a…
