  • I've started working out in the morning before work. It does mean I have to wake up earlier but it's definitely worth it in my opinion. Aside from that I bring all of my meals and snacks to work. When I don't I try to go out and pick up something that meets my goals for the day.
  • This was so hard to control for me. Honestly, I wasn't able get a handle on it until I sought professional help. I have learned however that I have many triggers...including use of the phrase cheat meal and days, setting my calories too low, and telling myself that I can't have certain food items. Deprivation is a sure way…
  • Are you eating enough during the day? I've found that if I don't eat enough, and am low on protein I tend to go a bit crazy. Also, try not to think in an all or nothing mindset. I actually went through treatment for binge eating and I've learned that the best approach for me is to make sure I eat whole foods, eat enough,…
  • I'm on metformin and I've found that it has actually helped reduce my carb cravings and my appetite overall. If I do eat too many refined carbs I get pretty sick. I can still eat them I just make sure I have enough protein to balance it out, and that I don't go overboard.
  • Daily. First thing in the morning after using the bathroom. I like to keep track of my daily fluctuations because sometimes I find it easier to catch and correct things that may not be working for me.
  • I definitely was guilty of this a few years ago when I tried to lose weight for the zillionth time. I quickly learned that I was only cheating myself by doing this. Now I log everything that I eat. Even if it's less than a serving.
  • I don't miss anything because I haven't given anything up. I do however at times miss just eating without weighing, measuring and tracking. I can deal with it though. I don't miss being 270 pounds so it's all worth it.
  • I also was advised to go low carb but that didn't work out for me so well. I'm sure it works great for others, but all it does is trigger binging for me. I have been back on mfp since Memorial Day in combination with my metformin and seem to be doing better than I have in the past. It's hard but calorie counting works.
  • I love my IG as well. I post both the good and bad on my weight loss journey. I follow only weight loss/fitness accounts and have gotten a ton of motivation from it. I definitely see what op is saying but at the same time I actively choose to unfollow when I feel the need. Also, I don't know how new it is, but I also…
  • I tried it several times. I didn't like how everyone was set to pretty much the same calorie levels regardless of their health issues. The last time I did it I went for a month and only lost 2 pounds and hundreds of dollars. It was a huge waste for me I and found that I can do better just counting my own calories and…
  • I've struggled with this in the past as well. While I don't have Hashi's I am hypothyroid and struggled horribly with losing while tracking calories. I found that I was deficient in B12 and Vitamin D so my doc put my on supplements for those. Also, my weight didn't start to budge until I had my meds adjusted and I actually…
  • Congrats! That's an awesome loss!
  • Having to go upstairs or to the back of stores for the larger sizes; Feeling the need to put my purse or a pillow on my lap when sitting so no one could see my pooch; Being tired and sluggish all the time; Feeling ashamed of myself and not wanting to go out much because of it; Feeling like I wanted to hide when asked my…
  • First of all...congratulations on the engagement! I'm 32 and still single, but I can understand where you are coming from with your emotions regarding getting married and not being happy with how you look. You are beautiful and weight is something that can always be corrected. Keep working at the weight loss, and gain some…
  • 38 more to go! I cannot wait to finally be back in the 100's. I haven't seen anything that low in over 10 years. Good luck everyone
  • @walking2running Thank you so much! That's exactly how I'm feeling...it is definitely like a self-fulfilling prophecy. I realize this is something I will struggle with for the rest of my life, I just wish I knew how to turn off the negative thoughts telling me I can't keep this up. I'm definitely making sure I log…
  • Thanks @mommazach I'm 5'5 and weigh 238. I exercise daily and according to my hrm I burn about 600 calories on average which I don't eat back and have not plugged into my initial set up. I set my calories that high because lower targets tend to send me into binge mode and I don't typically eat all of my calories anyway.…
  • Binge Eater here too. Well I'm in recovery, and have binge free for almost 2 years now after seeking professional help. The biggest thing that helped for me is to stop depriving myself. I find that when I tell myself I can't have something, or set my calories too low, I tend to feel like I'm going to relapse, and that's…
  • I'm in! HW: 270 CW: 239.2 GW: 140ish
  • I also try to take a step back when I think I'm becoming a little obsessed with my numbers. I struggled with binge eating for years, and have been free from it for over a year now, but something about dieting makes me go off the deep end sometimes. I try to remember that the world won't end if I go over my calories from…
  • Needed this post! I'm a recovering scale addict who has suddenly found her way back to daily weighing. I'm trying hard to keep all of this in mind when I see the daily fluctuations.
  • Don't deprive yourself. Make it fit into your calories if its something you like. I've found that allowing myself whatever I like on this journey as long as it fits has helped tremendously.
  • I prefer the treadmill to running outside. I get awful shin splints when I run outside, and I hate running in the heat. I'm also fairly new to running, so I suppose at some point I'll learn to love the outdoors as well.
  • Count me in! I have 99 more to go and hopefully I can stick with this lifestyle change. I've been consistently logging for the past week and its slowly turning into a habit I think I can stick with. Good luck!
  • Definitely frustrating. While I agree it's important to make sure you're logging and weighing everything accurately, its still hard to lose while hypo. At least it is for me. If you're on medication and your numbers are "in range" its still possible for them to not be the right range for you. My numbers were perfect…
  • I agree with the above posters. Take it one day at a time...I also have hypothyroidism and can relate to your frustration. I've had so many day 1's I can't even count them anymore. This last go round I did what others suggested. I logged in and just kept track of what I was eating without holding myself to the calories.…
  • They definitely make the process a bit harder. I was taking metformin for insulin resistance but quit it a while ago due to the nasty side effects. I'm now trying to lose weight by just making better choices with food and exercising. I also had binge eating disorder, but am in recovery and have been binge free for over a…
  • I've tried Weight Watchers numerous times and each time I disliked it more and more. I was always starving for some reason, and got tired of paying money just to watch my weight go up. I just restarted calorie counting here last week and don't plan on leaving. It allows me to be so much more flexible and still get results,…
