  • I just got a Vivosmart HR+ today, if it works like my Jawbone UP3 did in terms of setup you connect your MapMyWalk/fitness/run apps to Garmin but not to MyFitnessPal. Have the Garmin app connected to MFP. So the MapMyFitness/Walk/Run apps will sync to Garmin and then Garmin will sync the data to MyFitness Pal. If all apps…
  • Hi Tina, welcome to our group.
  • Medic for 36 years. I teach EMT/Paramedic classes now.
  • I haven't seen it yet. Is it on Netflix? I am not much of a beef eater. I do love pork, bacon, and most seafood though. I used to eat way more vegetables than meat. Problem was though that they were drenched in either butter or cheese sauce or both.
  • Welcome Janet. Glad to see you here. I am right there with you on the stuck thing. I lost about what you did and then sort of stopped. I am still losing inches though.
  • Well, it took over a week but I got my replacement UP3 band. I have to say it is a disappointment. It is nowhere as near accurate as my first band, Step count isn't too bad but it measures quite a bit less than actual steps compared to the first band which was pretty spot on. What is really disappointing is the sleep…
  • @bekim123 you are correct, I never eat back my exercise calories. I try to always leave at least a 300-500 calorie deficit. Clothes are fitting much better so I know stuff is working. Just weird that the scale won't budge. It did show a 1 pound loss a couple of evenings ago.
  • I am still not seeing any weight loss after 2 weeks. I am beginning to wonder if the calories burned through exercise is accurate on these sites. I walk at least 5 miles a day and have started some gym workout as well. I weigh and log everything put in my mouth. I am always well under my calorie limit for the day by on…
  • Welcome aboard Jacqui. We might be neighbors. I live about 45 minutes outside New Orleans. Glad to see a neighbor here!
  • I have tried shakes and smoothies with utter, dismal lack of success. I have one and am I starving in 30-60 minutes. More so if I had eaten nothing at all.
  • I hope I don't have these issues with the UP3. Mine died yesterday. I have had it 19 days. Guess we will see how much the one they are sending me will last.
  • I live in Southeast Louisiana in the Jambalaya Capital of the World and know your pain. The majority of my obesity occurred after I moved to Louisiana in 1999. Spices aren't really your issue with Creole food, it's fat and carbs. Between roux, oil, butter, fat, rice etc., it is tough to eat healthy. We have Jambalaya and…
  • I have a hydration app on my phone called Water Drink Reminder that gives me an hourly notification to drink water. It will log my daily consumption and recommended amount based on my weight. I used to keep a cup on my desk but I now get up and walk to the water fountain to consume. This is a way for me to get up fro my…
  • Kale is very good when prepared correctly. I enjoy it quite often but it is sauteed the same as if I were cooking spinach or mustard greens. A dab of olive oil, chopped onion and garlic as a splash of vinegar.
  • I haven't been measuring but I know I need to. I agree, my clothes are fitting much more relaxed and I can actually see a difference on my face and neck.
  • @ZSwerve welcome to our group. Glad to have you join. We are definitely here to support, encourage, and motivate as well as a sounding board when plans get sidetracked.
  • I am wondering if all of the walking I am doing has built the leg muscle that will weigh more than fat. I still am showing a weight gain but my waist is shrinking slowly and I can already see the loss difference in my face.
  • @RaeBeeBaby thank you so much for the great ideas as well as all the input from everyone else. I do truly appreciate it! Y'all rock!!!!!!
  • @bekim123 same for me. I can resist sweets but salty is what gets me down which is weird. Before I started dieting and working out, I was always bitching about stuff too salty and sweets were my downfall. Now it is the complete opposite. I have went over my sodium intake budget almost every day since I started this journey.
  • @3dogsrunning the double calorie count thing was just today I believe as I tried 2 different fitness apps and the count I listed was edited. It originally showed 1819 calories burned through exercise and I deleted one of the apps and it changed to the current amount. I also agree about the not feeling hungry. It has been…
  • I feel your pain @Jenniferwhite1296 I started this quest 2 weeks ago. I walk at least 5K every day. I have at least 1000 calories more I could eat every day but I am full. Today I could have eaten 1314 more calories but I am stuffed right now. Most days when I finish my log I get the same "You are not eating enough"…
  • Well this is weird, I weighed myself for the heck of it when I got home and I have lost 2 more pounds. I always weigh in the morning first thing, maybe I might switch to the afternoon from now on :D

  • Welcome to the group and lets do this!
  • Thanks! I'll check that out.
  • Yogurt was one food that shocked me with how much sodium it contained. I had been eating the Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurt. Surprised it had 150 mg sodium per serving. I guess in the long run that isn't that much but combined with the rest of my lunch of a ham sandwich on Jewish rye bread w/ brown mustard along with a…
  • Thanks for the reply, sent you a friend request
  • The stop consuming alcohol has been a tough one for me. Not because I am an alcoholic co:) but because I am a craft beer enthusiast and brewer. The average beers I enjoy are approx 250 calories a pint. I haven't drunk any for about 2-3 months. I sure miss it and has been the hardest craving to curb. I had noticed by eating…
