Just to repeat what several others have said- get yourself a kitchen scale- it really is a revelation!! I feel your frustration, I’m 5ft 1”, almost 47 years old and have lots of health issues. It is painfully slow for me to lose weight, I have to stick around 1300 calories a day to see any results. However, when I’m…

Guys thank you, looks like I’m digging in for the long haul and need to tighten up my logging and measuring. I do use a kitchen scale but I’ll admit sometimes the weekends run away with me! I really want to shift these extra 14lbs so it’s head down and back on it! Thanks again everyone x

Hi, I too have AS and was diagnosed around the age of 30, I’m now 46 and have finally realised that when I exercise and carefully manage my diet my AS is much more manageable- but at times it can be hard going- especially the fatigue! My wardrobe also spans all sizes from a UK size 12 right up to a size 22, right now I’m…

I find the Tesco wholewheat pitta pockets really good, 145 calories each and quite filling too!

Evenings have always been my 'danger' time, I try to stay busy but pre-logging has helped and leaving some calories for a couple of snacks is an absolute must. As for popcorn, it's my new favourite, Metcalfs is good but oh my gosh, Proper Corn's sweet + salty is heavenly!!

Oh yes! Every. Single. One.

I really feel for you OP because I totally 'get it' as I'm the same!! I'm 44 and I've been trying to lose weight since I was 14, that's 30 full years of effort, have I succeeded? Yes, several times in fact, but I've never been able to maintain a healthy weight, I'm 5ft 1 by the way. But here I am again because if I don't…

Oh I hear ya!!! I too had a 3 weak break over Christmas, if it wasn't nailed down I ate it!!! I haven't weighed myself just yet as I'm trying to stay optimistic and hopefully drop some water weight however I know I've gained a fair few pounds. I've lost just over 4 stone in 9 months but want to drop another stone, I'm back…

Hi I'm from Northern Ireland, I've been doing mfp since April and have lost almost 4 stone, trying to keep the momentum going + perhaps shift another stone for Christmas, but any loss would be good!! I'm 43, 5ft 1 + trying my best to move more! SW 15st 2 CW 11st 6 GW 10st 7 maybe!!

Thanks to all, you've all made valid points + it's mostly the things I've been considering, no I haven't gained so that's a big positive, I'm fairly meticulous when logging and I do use a scale but I can be better!! And yes I guess this is what maintenance looks like especially when I'm only 5ft1. I still have a way to go…

Hi Firstly I'm not an expert, far from it, but I've struggled with my weight from my teens, I'm 43 now. I too have mobility issues, a type of arthritis called ankylosing spondylitis and fibromyalgia so I know what it's like to be in a lot of pain, I've also lost 3 inches in height due to the spinal issues so I'm also 5ft…

I SO get this!!!

Hi Jenny I'm a classic yo-yo dieter, twice I've managed to lose around 50lb only to gain it back, I too find maintenance the hardest part. I'm hoping this time I can hold it together and put all the things I've learnt into practice. I did the whole bingeing/feeling guilty thing too, every day I'd start again but by dinner…

I really wish calories didn't count on the weekend but unfortunately it seems they do! I've been sticking to 1200 calories a day for exactly 12 weeks, in this time I've lost 33lbs. I absolutely attribute this to being consistent and not using the weekend as an excuse to binge or overeat, it's not been easy, I've had to…

Thanks everyone, that's pretty much what I thought, I'll stick with just weighing when I get up first thing.

Hey, I was 5'5 but due to back/spinal issues I've 'lost' 3 inches in height in the past 10 years making me 5'2 now. I started April 3rd at 212lb + hit 181lb today, not sure what my goal weight is, just trying to keep the momentum going but getting smarter on what I can eat sticking to 1200 calls a day. Loving the support…
