I have used a Garmin, AppleWatch and Fitbit. They all have plus and minus. Of the 3 the AppleWatch was my least favorite, mainly due to the connectivity to MFP. I wasn’t in to all the extra bells and whistles. Passed that on to my daughter and currently use the Fitbit Versa. Love the simplicity of it as it does exactly…

So, there is a "Biggest Loser" competition where I work. All of the participants are on teams. I told my team members that instead of trying to lose big chunks of weight at once, just shoot for 1-2 lbs a week. Begrudgingly, they agreed. At first other teams (5 to a team) were losing 20-25 lbs a week whereas my team's…

@corrarjo I just read your blog and it seems we are on similar journeys. Lots of unhealthy eating habits over years finally catching up with us. I started at 310 lbs on 11/26 and this morning the scale said 283 lbs. One of the other groups I belong to has the True Weight component. This has really helped me get over the…

On Noc 25, 2018 I had a level 3 hemorrhage and lost approximately 50% of the blood in my body. When I finally regained consciousness I wanted to crawl under a rock when they weighed me and I was 310 lbs. “How did I let myself get to this point?” Years of neglect, telling myself I will restart tomorrow, or next week.” Fast…

53 here...Survived a massive hemorrhage at the end of November. Down almost 30 lbs since then and MFP has helped me every step of the way. Believe me, age is just a number... but that number has taught me now that Slow and Steady wins the race! You Got This!!

That's great for you on the Cricket front! You know there is no such thing as crappy weight loss....just some weeks are better than others. Just STICK TO IT! Enjoy your weekend

I use to obsess with the calories and their adjustments and it drove me nuts. I then had a friend show me an alternate way to log my intake that has made it so much easier (at least for me) to continue to have success. Instead of trying to stick to a 1880 calories a day (or whatever your particular number is) I record my…

The only thing I don't count as H20 consumption is alocohol. I drink mostly water but I count my morning coffee. I just account for the cream I put in it.

Your Doc's delivery could have been better but in the end he got you going and that is the important thing. I'm here because I'm 53, weighed 310 lbs and one month ago almost hemorraged to death. Near death experiences have a way of making you rethink some of your current choices. I am learning how to handle the stress that…

Happy last Wednesday before Winter Break!!! These are trying times in school. Most of my students have checked out mentally, some have checked out physically, and the stress of getting all the loose ends tied up is a bit much. The old me would be hitting every vending machine and class with goodies I could find....today I…

Hello everyone! I don't consider myself Middle Aged....I consider myself Well-Aged!!! Health concerns have led me here and its nice to find a group of Well-Aged individuals that I can lean on for answers to questions and the occasional Kick In The Pants! Being a high school teacher, soccer coach, and father of four helped…

You're off to a Great start.... I started on November 28 and so far I have lost 18 lbs. Like you, watching my portion sizes and cutting out ALL soda. I'm keeping my sodium in check more so by not adding salt to anything and montioring the sodium level in everything I eat.

So....the rest of Week1 didn't go as planned. We had enough rain the 2nd half of the week I could have Couch to Kayak 5K... but running in 40 degree weather while raining isn't in my plan right now. I did supplement by doing body weight exercises...It will be back to the program this week. Going to redo Week 1...and…

I find it works best if you enter manually line by line. I’ve theories the import before and it never works. This is all on an iphone

This is what is working for me. Probably helped that I started this go around with an injury that wouldn’t let me exercise so I had to concentrate on what I ate. Has made all the difference

The Yeungling St Patrick’s Day 8K is right around the time I will finish the program. My son already runs in it so I’m thinking I will run the first 5K and walk the rest. There is also the Boardwalk Orange Crush 5K 3 weeks after that. Can’t be bad to run on the Boardwalk at the beach and then get rewarded with an Orange…

I have twins who are high school freshmen. One runs Cross Country and that was what really sparked my interest. The other twin and my 18 yo. Daughter are both soccer players. She is recovering from a torn ACL so I told her once she is cleared to run she can join me.

After reading your story and seeing your pics I know I can do this. At 53, I’ve had a medical emergency that smacked me around and woke me up. Thanks for inspiration

Instead of thinking of it as gaining 5lbs think of it as losing 1lb last week!!! That’s a win right there. Some weeks will be better than others. I weigh myself everyday but Monday is my official weigh day so the only number that matters is what pops up each Monday morning. The rest of the week I use the numbers to gauge…

I’m with you on this journey. I started at 310. Now at 295 with an ultimate goal of 200. Replacing the soft drinks with water and cutting back my portions. Can’t hit cardio hard yet as I’m recovering from a massive hemorrhage. Add me if you would like....can always use a motivational buddy

Thanks guys...I personally count my coffee as part of my meal. Cutting out soda is huge for me and I just need some flavor in water

I'm ready for this again. Hopefully my meds are leveled out this time
