  • I use Happy Scale and I really enjoy it! I found that my weight fluctuates a lot day by day or week by week and it can really get to me. But seeing the average and my overall trends really really helps my mental health and keeps me motivated! I also love the little milestones it sets. Definitely motivating!
  • I used to weigh every morning, but am now weighing every week. That way I don't get hung up on day to day changes from water weight and such. Works for me! I lost 2.2 lbs this week and I'm sooo excited about it. I fear if I had weighed in every dayI wouldn't be as excited about such small changes.
  • I listen to my body. If I feel like I need more fuel then yes I'm not afraid to eat them back, but I don't always eat them all back. Also it's important to note that I do this because I am at a pretty extreme deficit and eating 1200 cals. If I had more to play with, I might be stricter about that.
  • Ah, the weekend drinks. I try to choose red wine if I can but I know alcohol is not helping me lol
  • I think they can be a nice addition to an otherwise healthy diet, although they are not an end-all-be-all solution. I often add things like spirulina powder or alkaline greens to some of my smoothies or lemon water. Super high in vitamins to support immune function and digestive health. Great resource:…
  • - Nuts and seeds (cashews, walnuts, almonds, pecans, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds) - Cut up veggies with seasoning (tajin is sooo yummy on cucumbers or tomato if you like tangy/spicy, Everything but the bagel seasoning is so good too, from Trader Joes) - Cottage cheese, or plain yogurt (I am Persian and I often snack on…
  • Thus far today I have enjoyed a delish breakfast of eggs, feta cheese, mushrooms and spinach. Unsalted cashews for snack. Lunch was a yummy three bean salad (black beans, chickpeas and kidney beans) with avocado, tomato, cucumber, feta and a dash of lime juice. TBD on dinner!
  • Wow, it's so *kitten* that someone would say that to you. 38 pounds is A LOT OF WEIGHT!! CONGRATS. That's such an amazing accomplishment. Take their dumb attitude and let it motivate you that you can do this! Prove it to that very rude person.
  • It sometimes just happens like that! Don't get discouraged, weight loss is never linear. 5 lbs in a week is a LOT so it makes sense that your body slowed down the following week. Keep doing what you are doing, and work in some extra cardio if you feel like it. Think big picture
  • Good for you! I'm with you. I'm sick of using food as therapy. HEALTHY, fueling foods should be therapeutic to our bodies and we shouldn't be afraid of food, and balance in our diet. But I was the same, bingeing when I was sad, happy, etc. I believe in you.
  • Add me!
  • Congrats on your huge weight loss! What an incredible acheivement. I'm sorry to hear you had issues with your medication interfering with weight loss, I hope you find one that works. Restrictions on the pool should be lightened over time.
  • I personally don't eat back "step" calories but I do eat back workout calories. So a cardio or weight lifting session. I also use my own personal judgment here and double check that I think the calories are accurate to how hard I worked during a session. They can be off, in those instances I might eat half back or whatever…
  • I know what everyone is saying is true, that weight loss comes mostly from the foods you eat. That being said, for me personally, YES weight lifting helped with fat loss. I have never loved my body more than when I weight lifted consistently. Yes you need to be mindful of your eating as that's THE culprit, but I find that…
  • Muscle soreness (DOMS, delayed onset muscle soreness) is very common, especially for beginners. If you are feeling sore muscles, and it's not something more serious then I would start by incorporating a good stretch before or after each workout. Drink lots and lots of water. Potassium is great for soreness as well, so on…
  • Wow thanks!! Sounds so good
  • May I suggest checking out Joan MacDonald (trainwithjoan on Instagram) for some serious inspiration of a woman getting into fitness later in her life! She is much much older than you but I think she's inspiring and it's amazing to see women from all ages get fit! But yes, what Chieflrg said. low volume program. Lower…
  • Please consider lifting weights. I know it can be intimidating at first but there are tons of women-led resources out there to get started. Kendall Jenner without a doubt works out, if that's what you're aspiring to. Check out Katy Hearn, Nikki Blacketter, Heidi Somers, Whitney Simmons...these are few great fitness…
  • Personally, I could never ever do keto as a forever lifestyle. I have had good success with it for a short period of time, really motivating weight loss, but not practical or healthy for the long term. In fact there is not enough research to support its benefits in the long term. That being said it is a great way to…
  • This is lame but I literally just started to take my goals seriously again. Today is day one and I'm proud of myself for taking matters into my own hands and starting this thing!!
  • Yes I can completely relate to this. In 2018 I was in probably the best shape of my life. It was my senior year of college, living by myself and I had all the time in the world to focus on my health. I lived in the gym, it was my escape for a couple hours every day. Mentally and physically I felt better than I ever have. I…
  • Congratulations! Goals.
  • I totally get this. I'm the same way. I get so frustrated because I feel like I'm trying so hard and nothing is freaking working. And If I "cheat" and go over my calories I hate myself. Its such a cycle and its lonely and it sucks. I wish I had good advice for you but all you can do is keep going and consistently be…
  • Please add me! I am struggling so hard and feel alone in this as well.. need encouragement!
  • I would love to do this! Adding you!
  • Me too girl, me too. I lost 10 pounds last month and feel like I've completely gone off the wagon this month. I can't even bear to weigh myself... UGH we got this though!! Adding you
  • I'm not sure if it does exactly this but I recently downloaded Gymaholic which is a great fitness app if you have an apple watch. It does allow you to input weight, body fat % and measurements and sort of shows an avatar outline and tracks your progress. Check it out!
  • It's totally fine! I drink them too. Check out this article about BCAAs: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/benefits-of-bcaa#section7 Typically you can get BCAAs from your daily diet but I like you and many others find that supplementing during your workout help with fatigue and muscle soreness. I'm more sore without…
