I had 2 stress fractures in 2019, both in same leg. Took me a good 3,5 months to recover. Since then ive learned a great deal about what caused it in the first place, so now I also add in strenght and mobility training. Hoping for a injury free 2020

I want the 6X sapphire. solar charging is kinda useless unless you are REALLY hardcore. Also no Sapphire with solar so thats also a no no for me

Sorry. Let this one die in piece then.

Way to little information to provide feedback. Could be anything from undertraining to overtraining. The most common mistake would be overtraining, where you try to set a personal new best every run. Thats a sure way to get slower (and slower and slower) Provide more info, the more detailed the better. following a…

No. Garmin calibrates itself, and uses the last outdoor runs to calculate stride lenght.

Ignorance weigh more than fat and muscles.

Who is this doctor? I dont know where you are from, but in my country there would not be a single doctor telling a patient to stick to a 1200 calorie diet because he or she needed to lose 20 pounds.

I have three pairs in rotation now Brooks Levitate 2 ver 19. Lighter than previous models. 8 mm drop Saucony Kinvara 10 ver 19. 4 mm drop (tempo runs) Last one is Hoka. Cant remember the name atm, but its a 5 mm drop. Dont use it as much as the 5 mm drop feels odd for some reason. Really like the Brooks and Saucony though.

Pretty sure OP is thinking of contrast bath therapy to reduce recovery time after training. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contrast_bath_therapy

What about "My cold dead heart does not really need the exercise"

Im lucky enough to have PT that was one of the very best runners from 5k and up to marathon. The first thing I learned from her was that resting heart rate and max heart rate is irrelevant. The only metric that was important was to find your Lactate threshold. So my intervals is adjusted to my Lactate threshold. Some…
-
Yeah? My PT happens to be someone that set 6 world records on track (5K, 10K), have several gold medals, won NY marathon, Boston marathon, Chicago marathon and London Marathon to name a few. Her personal best on that distance was 2h, 21min When she made my current program, she failed to mention the program was really…

The long SLOW run is the single most important workout for a runner, and will benefit you the most. All my long runs is between 1, 45 hours up to 2,30 hours, and my next race is "only" 10K

I train in a percent of lactic threshold or up to lactic threshold on my interval days. all sessions is time based. So in Garmin world it will look like this: (melkesyreterskel means lactic threshold in norwegian)

Are you sure you want to to this? It can really mess with you head, and you might end up enjoy running. Before you know it, you might find yourself browsing the web for new trainers, and you learn to use new words, words you might never have spoken before, like Strava and Garmin. And you WILL find yourself watching endless…

I run outside all year, and I live in Norway, so im used to cold dark and icy weather. There are certainly days I dont really feel like going for a run (and i even have a treadmill in the basement) but as soon as I get home from work, i change my clothes to my running clothes, warm up and put on my shoes. At this point its…

I think many people underestimate the psychology. We "know" losing weight is hard. Maybe we have tried before and failed, or maybe we know someone, like a close friend or a family member who has failed. This reinforce the psychology. Losing weight is hard. Period. This "fact" makes us take irrational decisions. It will…

Fartlek is just a freeform interval session. A quick rundown from Runnersworld: https://www.runnersworld.com/training/a20852351/whats-the-difference-between-fartlek-tempo-and-interval-runs/ I would use some time to read up on the science behind the 80-20 training. A good start is here: http://8020endurance.com/resources/

My personal opinion is that you are pushing too hard. If your heart rate zones are correct, you are doing 70% of the run in z4 or above. You are not supposed to do that. You are supposed to drift back to Z2 in between your speed intervals.
-
Too many high intensity sessions for my taste. If you want to go through with this, its REALLY important that your easy days are in fact easy. If you drift into Z3 on your easy days (soooo easy to do) it will backfire on you. Even though have have been running for several years, recovery time will be longer when we get…

I would say stick to what you enjoy doing. Its like eating. Do you eat things you dont like because someone else says you should?? Changing lifestyle is about making changes that you can do for the rest of your life. I would say a vital part of that is eating things you like, and do exercise you enjoy doing. Doing…

and ironically, the first thing the therpist will suggest, is to delete mfp.

I totally get what you are saying. My point is that it is soo easy to overwhelm yourself with information, and quite frankly, it can do you more harm than good. I'm talking in general terms here, and not aimed towards you. I can only speak for myself, but the runs I enjoy the most, is the runs where I just go out and do…

I must disagree. The average Joe do not need a lab test. Frankly they dont need Garmin or anything else for that matter either. Sure, gadgets can be valuable, and they can be fun. They can be unhelpful as well as you pointed out yourself. We dont need to know what our VO2 max is, neither do we need to know our max hearth…

Science is NOT a "mental" thing.

So you lost on average 10 pounds per month? Thats waaaaaaay to aggressive, and thats what you are paying for now with hormones out of whack. It will be a bumpy ride, going ahead.

Keep us updated. Maybe start a youtube channel or something where we can get updates on how this story will unfold? We really wonder too you know!

I was just watching a BBC documentary yesterday called "The Big Crash Diet Experiment" Not sure if its available on youtube etc. I was a well made documentary where they sent 4 or 5 people on a 800 calorie diet for 9 weeks. They were all monitored my health personell, and they did a series of tests to see how the crash…
