  • I have been making kombucha for a few years now. My hubby and I both like it and it helped us stop drinking so much pop. I make it every 3 weeks. Flavor with whatever fruit is in season (or that I froze for the winter). Mine is very fizzy (aka explosive at times). I did make water kefir for awhile. I honestly did not like…
  • I am just getting back into mfp and daily logging of my food. I would love to have more friends who log daily as I like to check out others diaries to compare and get ideas! It seems to help me be more accountable when I have friends who are active! I hope it's ok to add some of you who are open to friends :)
  • I am in the no, do not enjoy working out camp. I have made a commitment to being more active so I make myself do it. I live in the middle of nowhere, closest gym is 35kms away and is a tiny not well stocked, no fitness trainer place. Next closest is 65kms away and is bigger with better equipment, but I'm not driving that…
  • I was abruptly thrown into menopause 4 years ago when I had my ovaries removed. I do take low dose hormone replacement as I am only 41 years old. I did find I gained more weight following surgery but was overweight prior to it to. Once I set my mind to it, June 1st, 2016, and using mfp to log my food and follow a calorie…
  • Just over one year, started June 1, 2016. Down 79 lbs and have another 25ish lbs to go
  • I finally broke down and went summer clothes shopping. I have put it off because I hate trying on clothes and crowds of people. I do a lot of online shopping but I had no idea what size I should get and the size charts are never right when you go by them. Over the last year, I have lost a considerable amount of weight, 79…
  • I also love the PC Skyr yogurts. Liberte Mediterrane Yogurt is deliciousness, better than ice cream in my world. I get the 142g 12 pk at Costco with 4 flavours of fruit in the bottom when they're on sale
  • Kombucha is fizzy and carbonated when you seal it in a bottle to flavor with fruit or juice during it's second ferment! I make my own, its delicious. You can also buy it at the store, GT brand kombucha is good. I love their grape flavor or ginger flavor. Pretty low sugar/calories, like 2-5g sugar and 30-35 cals per 8 oz.…
  • Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I am going to stick with what I am doing for another month and see how I feel. Then decide where to go from there.
  • I second the foam roller. I use one almost daily for my chronic back pain. Also started doing some yoga at home - videos on Youtube geared to back pain, sciatica etc. Ice/heat is something to also consider
  • We grew a huge tomato crop last year (well every year really  ). Our go to for extras are they go straight into the freezer as is. When we want them for something (spaghetti sauce, tomato soup etc.) out they come, run under hot water to slip skin off and into the dish whole or chopped up. Extras go to the chickens…
  • All time favourite is hazelnuts, fresh from the tree! Maybe not quite ripe yet even! Love them once dried too! Eat them fresh from the shell Second is walnuts, only if fresh from the tree and cured properly. Again fresh from shell. I have both trees planted but they are still young and not producing nuts yet. Can't wait…
  • I had both ovaries removed in 2013. Uterus left intact. I was 37 years old when I had my surgery. I have the BRCA2 gene mutation for breast cancer, which also includes a much higher risk of ovarian, stomach, gi, and skin cancers. The removal of my ovaries reduced my risks of breast cancer by approximately 50%(which is very…

  • I buy local honey. My favorite is from a place in the Kootenay region in British Columbia, their Dandelion Honey is my favourite. It's super yellow coloured and delicious flavor. My second favourite is their wildflower honey. The next is an alfalfa/clover honey from the Nicola Valley, also in BC. I buy a giant 13 kg bucket…

  • I'm sorry you are going through this too. I don't "exercise" daily. I walk 30 minutes most days I am off work to get some fresh air, do some yoga -mostly for back pain or relaxing before bed, I had started a running program but the snow has stopped that currently. Really the weather has stopped me wanting to leave the…
  • I also love Yoga with Adriene on youtube. She has some great beginner videos
  • For lower calorie options: Tiger prawns or the salmon entree for the starter, no sauce or sauce on the side The haduka is a white fish, it would be a lower calorie option for your main (and probably yummy!) For the side, I would go with salad, no dressing or on the side, maybe no nuts/cheese depending what it comes with I…

  • I'm 40, married with no kids. I started this weightloss journey on June 1, 2016 at 238lbs. I've lost 57 lbs so far and my goal is for another 35-45 lbs. Anyone is welcome to add me. I log daily and my diary is open to my friends
  • I do something else I enjoy - go for a walk, soak in the tub, pull out a new book to read, call a friend etc. I usually leave room in my calories for the day for some kind of treat - chocolate etc and I have it with tea. If you are finding you are sad more than not, then I would recommend seeing a doctor about…
  • I have started incorporating yoga into most days due to a back injury/chronic back pain. I YouTube "Yoga with Adriene". She has a whole bunch of videos from 5 minutes to 60 minutes and also for specific things like back pain, running etc. I also got a few different dvds from my local library to check out and some books for…
  • I am 5'4" and started at 238 lbs on June 1st. I am down 54 lbs, at 184 lbs now, and the last few weeks is the first time people have commented (coworkers and family). I have recently bought some new clothes that fit my new size and I think when I was wearing the baggy bigger clothes it was also less obvious. I am kinda…
  • Mine is open to friends, you could add me. I am currently at 1490 cals for weight loss. I started at 238 lbs June 1st, now 195 lbs. I am 5'4" and a bit older than you (I am 40)
  • My breakfast on work days varies between the meals below 1. 1/2-3/4 cup 0% plain greek yogurt (would be full fat but can only find 0% plain where I live), 1/2-3/4 cup nature's path granola or 3 tbsps hemp hearts, and fruit; either 1/2 cup canned nectarines (canned by me so no sugar or extra light syrup) or whatever fruit…
  • I use raw organic ACV in my water, maybe a 1/4 tsp in my glass often. As I get bored of drinking plain water and prefer to use local foods (and lemons don't grow here). It's definitely an acquired taste. I haven't noticed any weight loss benefits or reflux benefits.
