  • Exercise is great for fitness and taking off the initial weight, diet is great too! But consider the amount of exercising and dieting you will have to do to maintain your final weight/fitness. As with the Calories In/Calories Out mantra, be sure you are going to able to commit the amount of exercise and diet management to…
  • May I ask where this is?? It looks so familiar (except without ice....) I'm on Van Isle....
  • Big fan of the Garmin Forerunner 245 with music. Especially suited for runners, but can handle swimming, cycling, weight training, etc. Although I do use a Chest HRM for laps in the pool, and a cycling computer for that data. Affordable, not enormous on my wrist, watch face is customizable by downloading from Garmin, so…
  • Did you have this lack of energy before you started your life style change? I found that as my reduced caloric intake started knocking off some pounds, my body started to adapt to the remaining calories and it started to conserve energy, making me less energetic....
  • The last few blips are me switching over to a new smart scale, and setting up the scale. And perhaps some water weight from salty asian food (and following days of leftovers) :)
  • Vitamin D is fat soluble, meaning it needs to have fats to be absorbed, it can be stored in your adipose fat layer. Take it with a healthy fat, like salmon, tuna, avocado, eggs, cheese, etc.... I chose to get my non-dietary additional Vitamin D through a fish oil supplements fortified with Vit D.
  • Awesome job!!! Covid affected my health as well, as a medical technician, and the surge at hospitals with Covid patients, I found myself doing 3,4,5 double shifts a week, my regular gym schedule was tossed out the window, my running routine ground to a halt, but worst of all, I found myself eating what I could, when I…
  • Awesome!! Slow progress is great progress! You're not on a diet, you're creating a new lifestyle with better eating and more activity, Pounds that were easily/quickly lost are usually easily gained! You've got this
  • For smoke particulate, you will need an N95 mask or N100 to catch most of the crap floating in the air. 95% the former, 98% ish, the latter.
  • Out of interest, when you say you overhydrate, how much are you drinking in 24hrs , height, and weight ??
  • According to the AlertDiverOnline, a skilled diver with good bouyancy control, swimming no more than 0.5 knots should be working around 3 METs. Swimming against a 1.2 knot current could be working up to around 10 to 12 METs. Based on about 1,000 recreational dives they suggest about 5 METs of energy is expended on average.…
  • I do about 600 kilometers on my Nike Zooms, they're strictly asphalt, concrete and track, never wash them, but they do get soaked on rainy runs....
  • The C25K app is awesome, however, be good to yourself. Instead of being pressured to go from one week to the next, advance to the next week when you feel ready for it. I often did four or five sessions at a given "level" (I don't like calling them weeks, it applies pressure to your performance) before I felt ready to…
  • The suggested three counselor model is a must! I would also like to suggest, your husband's "hurt" is projecting his responsibility towards the marital dysfunction onto you. And, you have clearly outlined some symptoms of your husband's clinical depression. Hoping for the best that you and your husband can find the help…
  • any opportunity to get a gait consultation with a running coach?? Perhaps you are working harder at it than you need to. Correct form will take away some of the "hard work" and help you to remain injury free....
  • Belly/Hip fat, in general, is the hardest area to lose. You have to adhere to the calorie in/calorie out regiment. If someone suggests that you can spot reduce, run away!!! It does, and will come off, just maintain a caloric deficit!!
  • I'm assuming there is no history of eczema.... The sodium in your perspiration can dry out your skin, wash it off as quickly as possible after your workout....
  • Find another mom in the same situation and trade off workout/childcare time??
  • How are you estimating your BF??
  • Start your weight loss journey setting up your MFP goals and then start by accurately measuring your food and make sure your calories eaten are less then the calories burnt. Excercise is good for you, but weight loss happens in the kitchen
  • I'll eat back about 50% when they are on the higher side 600 to 1200+ Under the 600 calorie mark, I'll ensure my protein intake for the day is achieved. I am still in a calorie deficit mode in the my "lifestyle adjustment". Will have to reassess these numbers once I hit maintenance mode.
  • I've noticed my weight loss was more exponential than linear. A lot comes off quickly at the beginning of my "lifestyle adjustment", but the last few kilograms take for ever (in comparison) to get off.
  • For high blood pressure, lower your sodium intake, many cardiac diets suggest 1500mg/day. Make sure you're ingesting your daily recommended amounts of Potassium ~4700mg/day. Drink lots of water, dilutes the sodium levels in your blood. Exercise and lose weight. Don't know much about Gout other than alcohol tends to…
  • Personally, I'd love your partner for being sweet and thoughtful, and then pick up where you left off. You just had an amazing weekend with someone who obviously cares about you!! Who cares about a blip in your linear "lifestyle modification" graph...... <3
  • Wore a Tshirt, and it was firm around my chest and hung like a drape around my waist....
  • Born in Victoria, BC, Canada, and I now work at the hospital I was born at..... I did move away a couple times, but I kept getting drawn back, living abroad made me really appreciate my hometown
