  • I agree, we don't have a tenth here in Sweden of what's available in the US. It's both good and bad, we don't have all that processed food that is so bad, but we also don't have all their good options. One thing that is good is that we don't have pre prepared cakes and things like that in our shops, I'm not sure I would…
  • When you do a 23 hour fast every day you get all the benefits (and hardships) of water fasting. After about 12-18 hours of fasting your body starts healing itself, autophagy, and that makes you feel a bit sick or low if you have things that need healing. I don't say it's easy, but given time it will make you feel so much…
  • Love that series, I've read it twice. :) When you finish it I can recommend looking into the works of Brandon Sanderson, the writer that finished Wheel of Time when Robert Jordan died. His books are really good to! My goal for february is to lose at least 5 pounds (2.27kg). I also want to do a little longer fast, perhaps 5…
  • I was two days late, but other than that I met my january goal - to maintain my weight (get back to the lowest I was before my holiday that is) . Feels good! :)
  • Great, writing and reading here helps a lot! Good to have you here!
  • Not far to go now, you're doing great!
  • We're all different, you should do what works best for you and that's the one you like and can stay on. Why mess with a thing that works? I think most of us feel good on a moderate carb diet, somewhere between 50 - 100 gr per day. "Lagom" as we swedes say ;) just right, not to high and not to low. Your decision to cut out…
  • One thing about the weight. When tracking your weight you'll see that it goes both up and down and will continue to do so during your weightloss. Mostly downwards but with small bumps up again. Don't let that discourage you! If you suddenly se a + on your scales, just ignore it or do as some of us and record it just so you…
  • First - welcome! :) Your first week is hard, I know! It takes time to adjust to this way of eating, but you can make it easier on yourself by having two meals within a couple of hours in the beginning and then, when the rest of the day starts feeling better, cut one of the meals out again. You have your whole life to…
  • I'm with you on that, no counting here either, haven't done it once on OMAD. For me, that really signals that it's a lifestyle and not a temporary diet.
  • Congrats on a great week! I think you are eating just perfect for all the exercise and outings you are doing and except for the carbs, perhaps it's something you can live with for a long time? Sounds like it :)
  • Yesterday evening was so much easier and so far today (only 8 am) I feel like I'm back. Amazing how the body and the mind works!
  • Some days are just no good, but like most things - they end! That's the best thing about them ;)
  • Me too, today I eat an avocado on most days, would never have done that last year!
  • Thanks! :) Today I only have 0.6 kg to go before "I'm back home". Harder than loosing the water weight is getting rid of my cravings and hunger, yesterday started off fine but I cracked in the evening - so very hungry. I haven't been hungry since the beginning of december! I realized I'm not very good at this on and off…
  • And I'm back. Fun to go on a trip, but the best part is coming home again! Yesterday morning I weighed myself : +2.0 kg. Today I had lost 0.6 kg of that, only 1.4 kg to go before my vacation weight is gone and as that is probably mostly water and food weight it won't take long I hope. Yesterday I had two low carb meals,…
  • Oh, I'm more than fine, I'm just on vacation on Mallorca with my daughter. :) I'm taking a brake from OMADing this week, we're having both breakfast and dinner. Thank you for checking in on me, so nice to be remembered!
  • I belive it was dr Goldhamer from the medical fasting center True North Health that said that the harder people find fasting, the more they actually need it, healthwise. He was talking about water fasting, not intermittent fasting like we do, but as IF is a milder form of fasting and we get almost the same results, just…
  • I'm happy for you, that's great! I had one too, a long time ago, and watching tv while walking makes the time just fly by. Also, if you get too warm, you can wear (or not wear) what ever you want, that's the best part of exercising at home... ;)
  • I read a study that said apple cider vinegar reduces the raising of insulin levels with 34% when had while eating white bread. Worth trying I think! Best is raw, unfiltered ACV. It's not hard to fast a couple of days without any hunger or other symptoms, worse for those that have them. It's just a little bit boring ;) But…
  • Ha ha, yes I agree, I wouldn't have belived it if I hadn't tried myself! It's amazing!
  • I don't remember what your eating time is, but I would suggest that you eat first (lunch?) and then bake with your son. It's so much easier to resist things when you're full already. ;) Or you can choose to see it as a dessert after your meal, wich one you prefer. It's also much better to have sugary things after a meal…
  • *starting to stretch while I'm reading...*
  • Ha ha ha... :p I almost choked on my morning coffee, I feel your pain! But as blambo says, it can also be good to note those ups and downs, when you can see the pattern and know you're still loosing weight even though you sometimes gain a little too. But it's no fun - I know!
  • Thank you Abm4n! I ended up taking a 72 hour break from food and now my stomach is really back on track. These 48-72 hour fasts are quite easy for me, I feel really good all the time and don't have any cravings, hunger feelings or other symptoms. They say that day 2-3 are the hardest but not for me. Well, I'm not…
  • That was so strong of you! It's so very easy to get triggered from what we see, I know. Good work!
  • The first two weeks are the hardest, before your body gets used to your changing eating pattern. For me it took about 7-8 days before my energy levels went up again. It does get better!! You had an extra rough start with your UTI, but when it turns around it will all be worth it! It's good to have somewhere to talk about…
  • From what I have been reading about intermittent fasting autophagy helps a lot with loose skin, a benefit that only comes with fasting 16-24 hours (or more). You can read more here This year Yoshinori Ohsumi won the Nobel Prize in medicine with his research about autophagy!
  • A teaspoon of coconut oil in a hot cup of tea can keep me full for hours, love it! :)
  • Great, congratulations! :)
