You are correct about the grandkids not seeing you as being overweight. I am a grandmother too. As I have been on this weight loss journey for several years and none of my grandkids have really seemed to notice the 40lb weight loss. I do think they are happy that I have more energy and stamina. One of my main reasons to…

I am always looking for new friends that want to be mutually supportive. My diary is open and I am nearing 3 yrs on MFP. I took a small break over the holidays and put a few pounds on. Struggling to get my motivation back to get on track. Feel free to add me!

Support and encouragement is very important. I have had little encouragement on the home front since I started this journey, many times it’s been discouragement and sabotage. Although it’s been tough, I discovered the best cheerleader has been myself. I look for the small victories and keep going. At the moment I am…

I understand where your coming from. I think there are some people on MFP that aren’t wanting to support anyone else but it’s important for them to have a high “friend” count. I am struggling to loose the last 15-20 lbs. Always looking for supportive and active friends Feel free to add me if you if you are looking for that…

Here is the link to the group if that helps. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/133565-women-50-group-support

Hi Carriiesheph! It is maddening how we sabotage ourselves. I do it too! It would be great for you to join out group. We are just getting started. Flacacruz has been wonderful enough to set up a group and section things off to make it easier for us to get to know and support each other. We each have our own personal goals…

LoL. Starting on Monday is good with me! Thanks flacacruz for researching the group opition. Let's do this!

Hi Tilukiki! Yes, it's hard getting started and staying motivated. When I started, my goal was to change 1 thing a week in my diet and loose 1/2 a lb a week. Doesn't seem like much, but it adds up faster than you realize. For me, it wasn't just about losing weight but about making a lifestyle change. Slow and steady wins…

I think there is a way to make a “group”. Not sure how but that might be a good way for us to share. Of course we can always continue with this thread as well. Having friends that support each other will help with the mental battle. I know it does for me. I have very little encouragement on the home front so MFP is my main…

Hi getrealgirl ! Sounds like you have an emotional rollercoaster going. It can be really difficult on us moms when the kids grow up. We tend to focus most of our energies on them instead of ourselves. I have been trying to put myself first for a change and the oldest daughter is appalled. It’s a struggle to find the…

I am in a similar spot. I am 54, lost over 50 lbs with eating healthier and excercising. Hit a plateau last year and the last few months have been stressful with the loss of a family friend. Gained 15lbs back which is especially hard since I was with in 5 pounds of my goal weight when I hit the plateau. I’ve been finding…

You should be able to add a friend by clicking the name and then sending them a message or by clicking the icon that looks like a person with a plus sign beside it. Hope that helps!

Hi Lisa and welcome! 4 kids in college, that is stressful !! I am 54 with 2 grown chidren and a few grandkids now. Learning to be healthy while keeping up with family is always a struggle for parents. At our age we are use to putting kids first and we get what little time that is left over. We have to refocus and put…

Hi all! Life is busy here, but seem to be staying on track. At least the best I can. Work has been insane, but in a good way. QOTD: My exercise hack would be to listen to my favorites playlist on Pandora. I listen to podcast too. Arm Chair Expert is my favorite at the moment. Happy Tuesday !!

Great control Sparkle1098!!! That takes will power and strength!

I am not sure why he does it Slider678. No, he is not fit nor does he have any interest in loosing weight. Had a few people say he might be jealous. I have decided to do what is best for me. Getting healthy now will help me stay healthier as I get older. Finding suppprtive people on MFP has helped me stay on the right path.

question of the day! What is something that gets in the way of your healthy lifestyle? I have 2 main things: Finding time for exercise & my other half. Hard to fit in time to exercise. Sure I am not the only one that has that issue. It’s mostly about putting myself first in stead of last. The exercise problem leads to the…

I am in! I am 54 and have lost 50 lbs in the last 2 years, most of it on MFP. Hit a plateau last year that lasted for months. Decided over the holidays to just maintain what I lost, stop stressing and relax. That is what I have been doing since Nov 4th. It has helped me mentally a lot! I feel like I am about ready to get…

My Doctor’s office told me I could bring in my scale to calibrate it with theirs. I haven’t done that (felt weird walking in with a scale!! LoL ) I did reset my scale after my appt. Felt that would be close. Maybe purchasing a new scale is in order if you feel it’s not holding the setting. Sounds like you have a plan.…

I can tell a big difference! Your doing great. Keep it up. Slow and steady wins this race!

Good to know Jenna. I had wondered if it was similar to MFP. I have found this app very useful. Not sure if listing my food twice would be benificial for me, but the extra support would be. Thanks for your comments!

Good luck with the program Babs! I haven’t joined it yet. The last few weeks have been crazy busy. Want to make sure I have time to devote to a new program properly. Glad to know it is about lifestyle change and not a gimmicky weight loss program.
-
I agree with you. I am closing in on 2 years on MFP. Have not only lost a lot of weight but been able to keep it off because MFP has kept me accountable. It has become a lifestyle change for me. I tend to make the better choices now without even realizing it. 16 weeks is only 4 months. Mostly what I was wanting to know is…

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. I have been on MFP for a while and hit a plateau several months ago. I was thinking that maybe having a different perspective or weight loss push might help me loose the last 10lbs. 16 weeks is a long time to commit to a program. I also didn’t want it to be some weight loss…

Thanks Babs. I was wondering what was required. The information I was given was very cryptic. Know they supply a digital scale and you have to weigh in daily, but that was all. Is it more of a diet or just support for what ever you are already doing for weight loss?

Hi Joise! I am 54, not sure how I got this old, don’t feel like I am out of my 30’s. Would love to join a group of like minded women to support each other. Feel free to add me!

Feel free to add me. I am on daily and always looking for friends to mutually support each other.
