Good Tuesday Morning Everyone-
I hope everyone survived the long weekend. I was out of town 3 days. Had 1 good day and 2 bad ones. Got one workout in and that helped. Need to make today-Thursday very productive so the scale is good to me Friday. My clothes are feeling a bit looser which is good, no one has commented that I look thinner. I really don't need the affirmation but I wonder at how many pounds downs it will be noticeable.
Welcome to all the new members! Glad you are here!
Here is a QOTD- What is a exercise hack that helps you get through a workout? Mine is listening to great podcast. Here are a couple of my favorites...Up and Vanished, Dirty John and Believed.
Anyone else love podcasts?4 -
I'm 50 years old and in North Carolina. I gained back some weight which I am now having to lose. fun times lol.7

Hi all!
Life is busy here, but seem to be staying on track. At least the best I can. Work has been insane, but in a good way.
QOTD: My exercise hack would be to listen to my favorites playlist on Pandora. I listen to podcast too. Arm Chair Expert is my favorite at the moment.
Happy Tuesday !!

Hi! I am in. I am married but husband is not on the same lifestyle so I will check here for inspiration now and then! After getting sick of clothes just being too tight I looked up leptin and leptin resistance and realized what works best for me is a high protein breakfast and cutting out processed foods (including the obvious breads, rice and sugar). Since I associate "fun" with "food" it's a challenge!6

@slider678 I think it takes people who see you often a long time to notice, because they've stopped looking at your shell and started looking at your heart. It always seems to takes ages anyway. As long as you nare doing something about the bad days they're not a disaster - they can be fixed.
exercise...I hate exercise, so my hack is to make bargains with my self...if you manage 30 mins on the bike you can go clothes shopping...it isn't working lol
Welcome to all of our new friends5 -
Hello all. I am enjoying reading your posts.
My foot pain (achilles tendonitis) was a little less yesterday so I went for a long walk with the dogs. It was nice to walk like a normal person. Pain was back today unfortunately. I am going to start swimming tonight as an alternative. I walk like I am 97 instead of 57. It's depressing.
One of my goals for the year was to learn to make a good load of bread. I rarely eat bread that is packaged because it just doesn't have much taste to me. This weekend I made a loaf of 6 grain bread. Proud of myself because it turned out great. Very tasty and healthy.
Exercise Hack: Beach Body On Demand on my phone. I like the variety of workout choices and I can access it via my phone so it is doable anywhere. No excuses!

Exercise Hack: Pop music like a 16 yr old's play list....loud, dance music, Cardi B, Drake, Sia, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West...just embarrassing! lol Keeps me moving. Love it.5

Welcome to our newbies!
@tensquaredlives, would you mind sharing the recipe for the bread?
My exercise hack is to compete against myself. Except for today. I've been adding one minute to my bike riding each day. Today was an emotional, stressful day and I just didn't have it in me to do any exercise. I did "make" myself do 30 minutes though, thinking I might do the rest tonight, but it's not going to happen. Going to bed early and watch Arrested Development. That should help!7 -
slider678 Up and Vanished this season is about us here in Saguache (pronounced SAWATCH) County Colorado- we are 5th largest county in Colorado with less than 7,000 people beautiful but lots of places to hide a body..2

Alabama needs to wake up. This is from the CDC website.... I know that Alabama was number 1 in the past, and slowly I think Alabama is waking up. Scale Back Alabama is a good place to start.
I read things like this and I get mad at myself, then mad at the food company's, and the restaurants that want you to SUPER SIZE your order.
This must STOP NOW! For me anyway. I want to be a positive force in reversing the obesity in American and my state (Alabama) ... I may not make a monumental difference to the masses... but maybe.. just maybe.. I can change one person and that one person will be the one that can make a huge difference.4 -
Welcome to all the new members! This group is so positive and supportive, I know you will succeed checking in here.
I am not sure exactly what hack means but My exercise hack is trying to beat my speed from the last time. I use the map my ride or walk app, and I try to do my regular route just a little faster than the time before.
I don't listen to music, I like to just enjoy the quiet, (I am a high school teacher and sometimes quiet is such a treat), and reflect on my day.8 -
Despite having a cold (which usually I would turn to comfort foods) I feel focused. Pants feeling a little more breathable. Amazing what just a few pounds can do physically & mentally! Have great, successful day everyone.4

You all seem to be positive and encouraging to each other. (I'm in.) I enjoy reading your posts. I find myself taking 2 steps forward then 10 steps back which starts the negative thinking playing again and I find myself in my old eating patterns. This cycle has gone on my entire life and I want to break free from the negative bond I have with food. I want to view food as fuel to make me a healthier version of myself. I've gone thru eating disorder years when I weighed 100 lbs (I'm 5'7") to where I am now which is 60 lbs over weight. I look forward to being part of a group that will help make 2019 different from the rest.3

Hi!! I think I found a good group to hand out in. Can I join you on this starting anew (again) adventure for 2019? It has been over a year (until yesterday) that I've exercised or tracked my food. I am 57 years old, 5' 3" and weight 202 pounds. This is like the umpteenth time I've had to do a weight loss plan...….I do not want to let my body deteriorate thought because I am not taking care of it. I hope we can work together to have many celebrations at the end of the year.5

I'm in. . . Add me as a friend. I have lost weight before but since I am 57 I am detirmind to make this a lifestyle change. This time there is more focus on weight training, riding the mtn bike and martial arts for fun. In the past my focus was on the mtn bike.
I am happy to talk and help anyone make their change too.

@skf1201 be really proud of that one step forward - it's a toughie when habits are dragging you back. Every time you take that step forward you're winning a fight against gravity.
`
@teriseaton - can't wait to celebrate with you...help me get of my a**e and exercise
@MrSpacek - you sound as if you are really going for the sports, welcome.

Really stressful day at work, but a different reaction to it...instead of heading straight for the biscuits and chocolate I couldn't eat my lunch. If this keeps up I'll hit my target in now time lol.5
-
Thank you PartyPerson for your encouraging words!
Way to go with your new reaction to your stressful day! Woohoo!1 -
@PartyPerson funny how easily the tests/challenges come along. Yesterday I was so strong and feeling powerful about the new start......today, out of my routine, started at the dentist......didn't get my AM break exercise, nor was I home to make a healthy lunch. Numb from Novocain, I went for the quick and easy, a 7 layer burrito. When I returned to work I saw how many calories I had consumer....UGGHHH..... so easy to get off track. Let's stay focused on what we REALLY want...….drop those pounds! Let's do this!!7

Welcome to all the new members!! This is a great group of friendly supportive people.2

@BonnieHosk85 I have been getting my bread tips from the King Arthur Flour website. Lots of great recipes and tips there. The Six Grain bread recipe is on this page https://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/six-grain-bread-recipe.
Hope you all had a good day! I am getting back in the groove so that is a good step forward.
