What is the hardest part of the day for you to stay healthy and why?
Evenings.... at home, tempted by alcohol and snacks
How do you stay on track?
Close the door to the kitchen as a nudge not to re-Enter after dinner, hang out in my bedroom instead of the living room, take a deep breath and recite some affirmations. Logging my day also helps!1 -
Hi im in
Im 55 and doing 5:2 Fast diet as done by Michael Mosley. Started last week. Got a fast day tomorrow... so here goes
Feel free to add me.
Have a happy Wednesday everyone 🙂2 -
Im in as well...lost 65 lbs around 6 years ago and kept it off for a few years but in the past 2 years it started creeping back up and now I have gained it practically all back. I feel humiliated, defeated and embarrassed. I am swore I would never go back...need to update my photo that was a several pounds thiner . I have been listening to the Halfsizeme podcasts (Heather Robertson) she is really inspirational...really sick of yoyo dieting and always being at war with my body. I want to focus on changing habits and getting to the source of why...why do this over and over.

Hi everyone. I'm Bonnie and joined MFP on 11/30/18. I kind of thought it was dumb to start eating less before the holidays but I'm glad I did. I'm down 10 pounds but still have a lot to go.
I have claimed 2019 as the year to reach my goal, or at least get almost there I'm logging everything I eat and drink, opened my diary to friends to keep me honest, and I'm riding the bike every day for at least 20 minutes. Hoping to up that to 25 minutes before the end of the month.
I'd love to have more friends for encouragement and accountability if anyone would like to add me.
Blessings,
Bonnie

What is the hardest part of the day for you to stay healthy and why? At home, mostly when I come home from anywhere. It's emotional eating/stress relief after work and I think in part, procrastination.
How do you stay on track? Preparation (I pack everything ahead for work and gym/swimming) and try to get busy at home to avoid grazing.2 -

I want to lose 30 lbs by October1

Mike, Mike, Mike, what day is it???
First day back to school for kiddo, perfect new beginning to reign in my snacking. Going to stop at our mom-n-pop coffee shop for a treat for her, but I've already made, and in process of drinking, my protein shake, so no caramel machiato for me! Already logged the days meals AND snacks. Now to stick to it.
Own Hump Day, my beautiful friends!3 -
I have lost 80 pounds in the last year and 91 overall since 2013. I am about 10 pounds from goal and I need help getting me to the finish line! I had a car accident back in November that hindered my ability to get to the gym, which I was doing at least 5 days a week for 7 months leading up to that.
I am back to the gym this week, and I would love some support and some folks to friend me on here.
I am willing to throw back support and accountability your way, too! I am a middle school behavioral specialist and that stresses me out many days. I welcome both men and women as friends. I'd like to have my goal reached by the beginning of March, and then the maintenance life begins!7 -
Lets jump start this group....2 questions for this Monday morning.....
1- Where are you from? Be as specific or vague as you'd like.
2- What is one challenge that worries you this week?
I'll start...
1-Atlanta
2- Getting my exercise in. Been walking 4 straight days and I am sore, knees hurt and my back is tight. If I can just get to 250 I will feel so much better!
Sound off!
Answering Monday's question:
1- Shenandoah Valley, Virginia
2-Getting my calories back under control...I want to snack in the evenings0 -
Like many people here I used to find the afternoons the trickiest part of the day but now that I don't skimp on the lunch calories and prepack healthy snacks I find it easier.
Now it is car journeys...I need something to snack on so I'm saving one of my snacks for in the car - and we'll see.1 -
I'm in! Time for me to step up and mean it this time. Need to lose weight and eat better which will help with my arthritic knees. It will be baby steps at first however hope to move faster as I get used to the new routines.2

Hello all. I would like to join this thread. I made a good start last year and then got sick in June and it all derailed. I'd like to pick up where I left off. I had lost 20 pounds but gained 10 back. I am glad that I did not go clear back to the start but still disappointed to have to work off the same ten pounds. I have along way to go because I would like to lose about 60 pounds total.
My biggest downfall is lack of planning. I need to meal prep in order to stay on track. If I leave it to last minute choices I will pick the worst (usually the easiest) foods.1 -
I’m in! 57 in April and need to lose 30 pounds. Lost it last year for my daughters wedding. But fell back into bad habits.
Starting weight: 162.2 / 5’5”. Started January 7th0 -
I'm in! It's time to get serious. I never thought I'd hit almost 200lbs...but this morning was 196.4. This is the heaviest I have ever been and it's been hard to pay attention to what I know I need to do...2

@dgraft123, Happy belated birthday!
@cory17, I have made a promise to myself that I’m not buying anything bigger either!! I’m done!
@Sparkle1098, I feel your pain. My left knee keeps me from long walks right now. I’m hoping as I drop weight it will get better and I’ll be able to add long walks again.
@poscur, I felt all those feelings of shame and disgust when I started on 11/30/18. We have to keep our focus on the goal and that is to be at a healthy weight and stay there. We can do this! Sure, it’s hard. If it wasn’t, everyone would be trim. I’ll check out those podcasts.
@MissyMeltAway, thanks for the add. I look forward to encouraging each other to our goals!
@StaceyWW3, we can do this!! Make a plan and then make it a habit. What’s been working for me is to track every bite and to exercise every day without fail.
Hope everyone has had a great day! Spring can’t come fast enough for me!!
Blessings,
Bonnie in Nashville TN

What is the hardest part of the day for you to stay healthy and why?
After dinner until I go to sleep. Especially on nights when I have to complete homework for my Master's classes. I just want to binge on popcorn, nuts, chips and salsa.
How do you stay on track?
I weigh myself. I drink water and flavored sparkling waters. My husband thinks this is crazy but I watch the Food Channel. Something about watching people eat food and describe the taste is very satisfying to me!2 -

You are so sweet and encouraging! Love it!2 -
Hey All-
Sorry I missed yesterday. Been fighting a cold.
Here is today's questions....and I'll start...
What is the one thing surprised you about pursuing a healthy lifestyle?
What is the one thing surprised you about pursuing a healthy lifestyle?
I didn't realize how much of my friends and social network were focused on calorie consuming events. It seems I only see people when we drink, eat or do both. I find myself telling people I cant see them because I know we will have 1,000 calories worth of beer and appetizers or worse! I need a plan to stay connected or find new friends!

OK....question of the day!
What is something that gets in the way of your healthy lifestyle? And I'll go first.....
What is something that gets in the way of your healthy lifestyle? Work lunches and dinners are an absolute drag for me. Having travelled for work the last 30 years I hate going to bars and restaurants and just dread the 3 martini dinner. I avoid them like the plague. The other is family dinners when my sweet wife prepares a nice but high calorie dinner that all the kids love. I wish I could just warm a lean cuisine but everyone would think I am the rudest person they ever met. So these are two issues I deal with!1 -
I'm in. Just started back on the journey this week. Answering the question: my husband gets in my way. He knows how I need support, so he doesn't offer me a bowl of ice cream after dinner--just eats in front of me. He likes to pack a sandwich with chips for his lunch, so those are always around. When I first tried low carb, I tried to equate my problem to a "food addiction" like others would have an alcohol addiction---I can't be around the bad stuff without wanting it. It doesn't register, so I have to muster the strength and responsibility for my choices. Glad I found this group. Maybe I'll be successful once and for all.2

I understand about the work lunches. Had one yesterday and did pretty good but major drag watching everyone else eat whatever they wanted!
My first something is the fact that I do not cook. I have been single now for over 10 years and got out of the habit since cooking for one is hard and I can only eat the same thing so many times before I can't even look at it again. My dinner for years has varied between cereal, a sandwich or popcorn. Definitely need to tackle this. My second something is that I commute about an 1 hour to work each day so I have no motivation to exercise. This is a big hurdle for me that I HAVE to overcome.0 -
I wish I could just warm a lean cuisine but everyone would think I am the rudest person they ever met.
Are you sure about that? Most of the time I don't eat the same thing I prepare for everyone else. They don't care. It's more for them - LOL. And, if they asked me - I'd just tell them I want to have more protein - or something with less calories. They understand.
My husband has cooked meals for the family, too - and I sometimes have something different. He gets it. I don't want pasta. So I'll get something else. At least we can all sit together and enjoy a meal. Doesn't have to be the same meal. (kind of like at a restaurant.)2 -
What is something that gets in the way of your healthy lifestyle? my husband as well; he complains about my leaving in the ams/weekend to exercise but also complains about my wt (which makes it difficult to maintain motivation & get it done). As well, we have different food styles (he's meat & carbs and I'm trying to keep carbs down & cut way down on meat (temptation clash).
@slider678 I bet you could do that lean cuisine - but let your sweet wife know ahead. It's more about socializing with everyone, if you're also serving yourself from ?salad or ?on the table, it's not so obvious. They don't care.1 -
Please, count me in!! I need it badly. I have risen to over 400, well, now, after a week, back to 395. Ready to do this in 2019. Please, anyone to help? I need some friends and support. Hit me up, I am moving on with this. I can also be a great listener and motivator. Name is David, by the way.4

I am in!
I am 54 and have lost 50 lbs in the last 2 years, most of it on MFP. Hit a plateau last year that lasted for months. Decided over the holidays to just maintain what I lost, stop stressing and relax. That is what I have been doing since Nov 4th. It has helped me mentally a lot! I feel like I am about ready to get back to it and loose the last 15 -20 lbs. I log daily and am about to hit my 2 yrs anniversary on MFP. I am in it for the long haul.
Feel free to add me! I am always looking for active, motivating friends!3 -
