  • I'm 5'4'' and the medical charts indicate that a healthy weight range for me is between 105 and 145. However, I still felt too heavy when I was 130 pounds so my goal weight is 110 but I think it really depends on how your body is built and what you feel comfortable with. You can always have your goal be in your…
  • You will get the best results for fat loss if you stay under your calorie allowance while also doing daily workouts that combine cardio with strength training.

  • It is not too low if you are basically sedentary. I am also 5'4'' and have been accomplishing an almost 1 pound a week loss on an average of 1300 cals per day but I add extra calories on days where I have a lot of activity/workouts.
  • I totally identify with you. I am VERY slow at losing weight so sometimes feel like my buddies have left me in the dust. It has taken me over 3 months to lose 9 pounds. The silver lining is that slow weight loss tends to be more permanent. I still want to lose 30 more pounds.
  • And you look so much younger and I know you must feel younger!
  • You can definitely just count cals instead and still get results. For me the only thing I notice when I don't get enough fresh foods is a lack of energy and overall tiredness, not so much an issue when I was younger but now that I am pushing 40, if I am not eating clean enough I feel sluggish.
  • Your diary looks really healthy but you need more protein (I struggle with this too). If I were you, I may eliminate the oats at breakfast (so you don't go much over your calories) and for dinner have a tuna steak or another fish based meal (fish is really high in protein and low in calories). And yes, you will burn 1200…
  • An update on my progress- I finally made it under the 150 mark- I still want to lose 30 more pounds but I am officially in a healthy weight range now.
  • Thanks all for your support and encouragement!
  • I am only 6 pounds away from being in a "normal BMI range":
  • Good job- I wish I had come as far as you have!
  • You mentioned that "Is burning 200 calories walking on a tredmil just as effective as jogging 200 calories on a treadmil or eliptical? I don't know if thats silly or not to ask?!" . How you burn your calories does matter, especially as you approach your goal and weight loss becomes harder. Weight lifting, high intensity,…
  • I'm currently doing Insanity (week 1). I just push as hard as I personally can without hurting myself, which means I have to modify some. Despite this, my clothes are already fitting better, so I feel like it is worth it. i will let you know when I get to day 60.
  • And my husky- he is 5 but he is still as cute as a puppy:
  • The new addition to our family this year. He is now an 85 pound giant lab, but was soo little when we got him:
  • I am 5'4'' and about 10 pounds more than you. I wish I would have started when I hit 145 instead of waiting longer but... it is what it is. I am proud of you for acknowledging your weight gain so early in the process (I wish I had instead of ignoring it). The good news is- you have less work to do to reach your goal.…
  • If you are putting on weight, you are eating more calories than your body needs. To lose you said you were hovering around 1600 (which is too low for you), but I think moving up to 2300 calories was too drastic an increase based of your reported weight gain. I would suggest making sure you are getting all of your…
  • I think a lot of women don't always see the progress they are making in the mirror because we can be so focused on what we still do not like about ourselves, at least- that is how I am. But, from a strangers point of view (me), you look like a different person, in a good way! You look healthy and have made amazing…
  • I know how discouraging it can feel to gain pregnancy weight, but for now try to focus on eating healthy and staying calm for baby, I am convinced being stressed makes it even harder to lose weight. Once you have had a chance to deliver and rest up for a week or so, you can see what the scale says and develop a game plan.…
  • I can totally sympathize with you! I started this journey about a month ago, and weight loss is happening at about a third of the rate it should be. Some people are able to lose weight faster than others, numbers being the same and all. I also started out with walking as my main activity but have noticed more of a change…
  • It takes a lot of courage to share your struggles and your goals. I recently started this journey of weight loss too, so feel free to add me as a friend. For me, keeping a meticulously accurate food log helped me to see how many calories I have actually been consuming- that alone has been a huge breakthrough. I would agree…
  • My favorite workouts are also outside but in severe winter weather, I just cant get out. I decided not to join a gym because I live in a very remote area. Whatever you decide, I would encourage you to do an alternative indoor workout that you enjoy. To be completely honest, I have the Insanity workouts and I do not do them…
  • I live in Sandpoint, Idaho.
  • My goal is to get down to 115 pounds by the end of the year and log all of my food- every day.
  • My mini goal is to get out of the overweight range. My current BMI is 26.5 and if I can get under a BMI of 25, I will be in the "normal range".

  • Hi. I am new to MFP and I feel like I have a better chance of being successful if I have a mentor so please adopt me. I am a mom of 2 (ages 9 and 16), a small scale farmer (I have 8 chickens and will be getting 2 goats soon), and have been married 18 years. I am semi-retired and now feel that I have the time to dedicate to…
