One of the biggest helps for me was to start taking in calories the moment I wake up. If I wait till lunch to start eating, its really hard for me to catch up. Even on a budget and with a tight schedule with no time for a nice big breakfast, you can have a bagel with butter and cream cheese, a big glass of milk, and a…

The most helpful change for me was making sure I didn't wait till lunch to start eating. On busy mornings, I grab an instant oatmeal and glass of milk when I wake up, and take a banana and protein bar with me as I walk out the door, for about 600 calories. That's 20% of your 3000 calories with almost no time or effort.

On OHP, you're saying 'Just' the bar . . . but 45 lbs OHP is pretty darn heavy for someone benching 55 lbs, especially if you're new to that exercise. In my own experience, there's no way I could have learned proper form and progressed on OHP if I started at 80% of my bench weight. (But then I also can't perform a single…

I started out in a similar situation -- more than 30 lbs overweight with muscles atrophied from inactivity. I'm eating at 10% below maintenance (paying attention to macros and hitting about 30% protein), with a lifting program that's reasonable enough that I can stick with it. I'm still making strength gains while slowly…

Great job. I'm 52 and on a similar journey. Just trying to slowly keep losing, with reasonable lifting routine, till I get the lean look back. Your success is inspiring!
