I just checked on amazon, and wow, there are so many different ones, it's really hard to choose! I'll check the local Walmart and the kitchen store, maybe I find one that I can really look at before buying.

That recipe site looks great! As to the spiralizer, I've become more reluctant over the years to buy kitchen gadgets, because so many of them just end up unused in a drawer, or are more hassle than worth it. Who has one and is happy with it? What brand? Thanks!

OMG, I have never seen that before! Never noticed this at any of the, admittedly only 2 gyms I've gone to. I'm not big into workout clothes, I mean brand names and such, I bought my first 2 pairs at Macy's, a brand called ideology, they're made of polyester and spandex. My workouts are probably not as intense as most of…

sour cream, dijon mustard

It took me 15 lbs, I think because my middle section doesn't let go of the fat as much as my legs and upper body.

Halo Top is okay for a low-cal ice cream. Between something like 240 and 360 cal per pint depending on flavor it's temping to eat the whole pint, which makes it a pretty expensive habit. I tried a couple of flavors, and have gone back to regular good quality ice cream, managing my portion sizes. Sometimes eating less of…

I used to wear baggy workout pants and just bought my first pairs of leggings. It never even occurred to me that they could become see-through! And what would you actually see? Are you girls all naked underneath or wear thongs? I feel like I'm completely out of the loop here ...

Well, I said "supposed" because I'm not really sure if they exist and if so, what they are

When I use frozen shrimp I usually thaw them first, rinse them, then cook them, so if there's any salt on the outside of them, that should come off. Not sure whether this salt solution mentioned above that's used for peeling them penetrates the flesh. I'll just stick to the ones with shells from now on.
-
No cocktail sauce, just a bag of frozen raw shrimp, de-veined, no shells, tail on. I think the ones at Aldi's had the shells on, so with what Jerome said above that would explain the difference. I'll make sure to buy the ones with the shells on from now on. Thanks for that info!

Start creating your own food items for foods you use all the time, that way you don't have to search for them in the database. Tabs "Food" "My own foods" "Create your own food" or something like that.

I think as Europeans we might be a little spoiled when it comes to chocolate  I also don't get the Hershey's thing, I'm drawn to Lindt, Milka and the like. My husband likes it, so it may have to do with what you were exposed to growing up.

I only keep track of my weight in the check-in section, so I guess this advisory doesn't show up there. I have not changed my goal settings, since my goal hasn't changed, just my weight. Thanks for your replies!

Glad I asked, thank you!

I first heard about this ice cream brand here and have tried 2 flavors. I guess for a low-calorie ice cream it's okay, but I've since moved on to Haagen Dazs little portion cups. The flavors are limited in that size, but I know if I buy a pint I won't leave it alone. Sometimes I'd rather eat less of the real stuff than…

I avoided counting calories for many, many years, and tried to lose weight by exercising and eating "healthy". I lost a little weight temporarily, but it came back. Now I've been calorie counting, eating at a deficit and exercising on this site for about 6 weeks, and I can tell you the calorie logging is an eye opener! You…

I hope so, too! Good luck!

I just ordered "Strong Curves" and "Thinner leaner stronger", can't wait for them to get here!

Thank you! I can believe that you get tired of carrying your older dog, even if she is much lighter than ours! Not sure with his size it's a good idea to wear him in the front, I think having him on the back is going to be easier on our bodies. I also thought about trying to make something myself, I have a sewing machine,…

I think I drink about 50 fl oz of coffee/water a day (more when it's hotter or I am more active). This probably puts me at the lower end of what people think is desirable. But I also eat a lot of soups, yogurts and other foods that contain water, so I assume I'm okay.

Thanks, that's what I've been doing, and no dark urine. It might be one of these issues where some swear by it, and others don't, and in the end it may not make a difference either way.

When I have nothing prepared or no time to prepare, I usually end up making eggs in one form or another.

I think they generally stay more tender if you simmer them in the tomato sauce right away instead of browning them first. My mom always used old stale bread/rolls soaked in warm milk instead of bread crumbs.

Well, I can't say for sure how many calories I was consuming then, although in my memory it seemed to be as many as got me heavy in the first place. So I have to assume that the calories I burnt through exercise must have put me in a deficit. Thanks for taking the time to answer!
-
Thanks for your reply! When I lost the 13 lb within a year I was definitely not eating at a deficit. The reason I started exercising was that I thought I could get around dieting or calorie-counting. After a while the effect of going from sedentary to exercising must have worn off, since the weight started coming back. I…
-
Well, that must be it, because I had initially logged my weight in kg (European mindset still) and only today changed it to lb to make it consistent with my scale and everything else. Thanks!
-
I don't log my exercise at all, stopped doing that after the first week on here.

I ate 2 eggs today fried in coconut oil, and I actually liked them! The oil taste wasn't particularly strong, but it has such a nice fragrance while cooking. Glad I tried it.
-
I am German and love rendered pork fat! Used to gross out my American husband when my parents and I spread it on bread!
-
Oh, I have no concerns eating butter, so whatever negative health effects are associated with coconut oil, they probably won't bother me.
