loose skin an issue if weight loss of 50 - 60 lbs?
I've only lost 18 lbs so far, but I see a lot of comments/questions about loose skin here in the forums. If I get there at all, I'll probably "only" lose 60 lbs at the most, that's still a lot of weight, but I mean it's not as much as for someone who started at 250 or 300 lbs. Has any female approx. 5.6" 204 lbs lost…

Anyone make their own gym pants?
I have an issue with store bought workout pants. Since I am heavier around the middle than around hips and thighs, bought pants don't fit properly. When they fit in the waist, they are too loose around hips and thighs. So, since I can sew I bought a pattern from Jalie and tried my hand at sewing my own pair. After a couple…

how to change macro percentages?
I would like to change my macro percentages from the default option given by MFP. Through the search I only found how to do this if you're using the app. I use the website, is there a way to change them, too? Thanks!

technical issues with joining a group?
I've been trying to join a group, but every time I give my reasoning for wanting to join and hit okay, it gives me a message in red that says "you have to explain why ...". But I just typed that in, and still this message keeps popping up. The bugs section seems to have been moved, but I can't find the replacement support…

Does anyone have these and how do you like them? Hope not everybody is watching football tonight!

When you start lifting, is it counterproductive to continue doing cardio workouts?
I've lost about 30 lbs since I started on MFP, but a lot of it was probably muscle, even though I've been doing some strength training with dumbbells and kettle bells. After reading so much from women here about lifting, I decided to try it myself. Now, I would like to continue losing weight (slowly, I'm not in a hurry),…

baking with protein powder
Since I've been losing weight I eat one or two sweet protein bars every day to substitute for cake or pastry which was my usual sweet before. I would prefer eating baked goods as my sweet, but I have trouble getting enough protein the way it is, so I would like to add protein powder to them. Is there something like a…

Do not reheat
Some time ago I picked up a curry sauce in a jar from Aldi's (Specially Selected Dopiaza), and today I meant to use it on a big pan of stir-fry that I wanted to split up into several meals to freeze. When looking at the directions I noticed this "Do not reheat." Do they actually mean you can only cook it once and have to…

losing weight in scheduled stages?
I've been on this site and been eating at a deficit for almost 3 months and have lost 18 lbs, which I am very happy with. But, even though I exercise 5 - 6 times a week, I feel like I am at best staying the same muscle tone wise, hard for me to really tell whether I have lost muscle, but sometimes it feels like I have.…

Is it also intermittent fasting if
you consume your calories within the first 8 hours of waking up? From what I've read, everybody seems to wait hours after waking up before they start eating. I have to have breakfast right away, and I could also never exercise in a fasted state. My days probably aren't as long as most people's since I sleep 9 hours or so,…

sodium in shrimp
Since they are salt water creatures I expected them to contain sodium, but I just noticed that a 4 oz serving of frozen raw shrimp from Walmart contains over 1,000 mg, and the equivalent of I think the Aldi brand has only 230! Do some companies add salt to frozen shrimp? Otherwise, why would there be such a difference?

will MFP adjust daily calories/macros as you lose weight?
Since your daily calories goal is based on your starting weight, will that number be adjusted down as you lose weight? I've only lost 15 lbs so far, but I imagine if my starting weight had been 15 lbs lower I would have been given slightly fewer calories.

dog backpack carrier
Hi, this has nothing to do with MFP, but I'm sure there's a lot of people with dogs on this site, so I'll just give it a try. Our dog is getting up in age and doesn't do well with walks/hikes several hours long anymore. So I started looking at dog backpack carriers today, but only found some that are suitable for smaller…

water
I know everybody says drinking so many cups of water a day is beneficial, and when actresses or the like are asked how they stay looking so young they always contribute it to lots of water (never to Botox and who knows what else). I haven't really read up on it, but I am wondering, if our body needs this much fluid, why…

what do you use coconut oil for?
I recently bought a jar of coconut oil because a recipe for nut snack bars called for it. I ended up not making those, now I wonder what else I can use it in. Do you use it like cooking oil for stir-fries and other savory dishes? Where would you use the coconut oil rather than olive oil or the like?

Can 4 years make such a difference?
I was more or less sedentary all my life and my weight kept creeping up. About 4 years ago I started going to the gym, I knew I had to do something, but didn't want to go on some diet or count calories for the rest of my life. So I kept eating the way I had been, but exercised, lost 13 lb in the first year, got fitter and…

MFP protein goal changed?
I logged my weight today, only a slight loss over last time, but my protein goal went up by 1. I don't think that ever happened before. If anything, I would assume that protein goal goes down over time, since it seems to be based on body weight?

almost 4 weeks in
So I've been on a calorie deficit for almost 4 weeks, had set my weight loss goal to 1 lb/week, but have lost almost double that. I know, in the beginning we lose faster and this rate won't continue, which is fine with me, I'm not in a hurry. Surprisingly, I've had few cravings and only one day so far where I overate to…

Water Weight
What water exactly is meant when people say the initial weight loss is water weight? Is this water we don't need but our body stores for some reason? And won't our body replace it again at a later date?

creating own recipe
I started to create my own foods for every staple I have at home, instead of trying to figure out every time which one in the general database is the correct one. So when I log my calories, I pull from my own foods. Now I was going to create a recipe including some of those staples, but I don't seem to have access to my…

salad dressings
I like to eat big salad bowls with plenty of different greens, vegetables and some protein in it and I always make my own vinaigrette from oil, vinegar and mustard. Because the salads are so voluminous, a vinaigrette with only 1 tablespoon of olive oil (shocked to find out that has 120 calories) just won't coat the whole…

frozen banana ice cream
So I finally remembered to put some sliced banana in the freezer overnight to try and make ice cream from them. I have a little Cuisinart food processor, and once they were chopped up they started just clumping on top of the blades and not moving down below them anymore, no matter how often I moved them down with a…

egg whites
I don't eat a lot of meat and notice that I have trouble getting my goal protein. So one suggestion I read here was egg whites. When I fix eggs, scrambled or omelette or whatever, I like to use whole eggs without added egg white since I feel they "dilute" the whole egg. So what non-egg dish could I add egg whites to? I…

tracking exercise
I'm new here and have browsed the forums for information on how to track calories burnt through exercise. Some people seem to use a heart rate monitor, then there's the database for exercises, which a lot of people seem to say vastly overestimates the calories burnt. I usually alternate 45 min treadmill (not running, but…

Is it rude to decline friend requests?
I just started posting here yesterday and got some friend requests which I declined, explaining that for now I want to stick to the forums for information and motivation. I cannot be the only one who'd rather not do the friend thing online? To be honest, I don't even understand what it entails to be MFP friends.

confused about bananas
I heard that ice cream made from frozen bananas has such a great mouthfeel because they contain fat. Just looked up bananas in the database and all the entries I looked at said 0 fat. An old calorie guide I have says a little over 1 gr of fat. Now, that's not the world, but either they contain fat or they don't. Any…

creating personal foods
Hi, I'm new here (well, I registered a while back but never did anything, just now starting to use this place), and I'm trying to figure out how to create my personal food items. When I open the tab "my foods" it doesn't have a space to enter a food, it just says you can create one, but how? I am not very intuitive with…
