-- don't hope to loose weight while on vacation. For me, simply avoiding grazing will allow me to maintain my weight for a week or less. -- If your vacation is a lot of lounging, it will be harder. I eat just to occupy myself during lounging vacations. Discipline yourself to eat at particular times. Ya know, like…

I'm sorry this has happened. Your recovery will not be easy. If I were in your situation, I'd eat out of boredom. I'd emotionally eat, too--frustration, depression. Technically you can loose weight without the exercise. However, I suggest you address those two issues, too. Boredom? Are you taking time off work? Reducing…

I wish you well. Good luck to you. My layman's definition of an eating disorder--If I'm not enjoying food, something's wrong. I'm overweight, not 'cuz I enjoy food too much. I zombie eat. I eat beyond full. I eat beyond enjoying myself. Gorging is not enjoying. But, neither is strenuous dieting. People who strenuously diet…

I wish you'd put how long you'd been eating 1050-1700 calories. It's totally a different thing if it's been 2 weeks or 4 months. I liken starting to lose weight to throwing a ball straight up in the air, against gravity. The ball appears to stall before it starts going down. First, you have to stop...gaining...weight. That…

I have a glass of milk when I crave sweets. I think milk is very sweet. However, when I'm craving chocolate...only not having it in the house will do. I also drink tea...unsweatened. The bitter reduces my craving. As for "detox"...it's not biologically necessary: http://www.webmd.com/diet/a-z/detox-diets…

Sounds like Blood sugar problems. Most people can fast an entire day (or days) without needing to sit down due to dizziness. You should see a doctor. BUT...even without the blood sugar issues, eating a minimum of amount of calories per meal does help lose weight. Through MFP, I've learned that I have a minimum of 400ish…

At 19, you are still growing. Men grow until age 21. When I enter your height, age, gender into calculator.net, 170 IS a healthy weight. The top end of healthy, but healthy. Bone structure plays a role, too. I'm real concerned that 140 (your goal) is not a healthy goal. I'm glad you're seeing a counselor. Unfortunately, I…

Breyer's lists 1 cup as 150 calories. That is more manageable than the Baskin Robbins listed above! Yes, you can put that into your daily calory count. HOWEVER, I suggest you'll find weight lose easier if you're primary goal is overall health. I'd suggest you let treats be a treat & not a routine. When I'm being…

Ya gotta decide what the problem is, first. The mere act of eating bread is not a problem. My experience, too much bread leads to binging. too much bread leads to constipation. too much bread means I'm not eating enough veggies. I substituted one meal for a veggie based meal--lettuce, bean, or brocoli salad. I choose…

Did you set your profile activity level at "sedentary", "lightly active", "active", "very active"? I'm also a stay-at-home-mom. I set it to "lightly active". I rarely sit during my day. I'm always moving. House cleaning & gardening raise the heart rate & tone some muscles. If I were a better house keeper/gardener I might…

I googled "protein shakes nausea". Seems that protein shakes often cause nausea. All sorts of articles on how to deal with it.

1. It culd be constipation. Sound like you're eating a lot of starchy foods, which don't pass as easily as yummy veggies & watery fruits. Once you get your body regular again, you may lose a pound or two. 2. It could be actual weight. I've gained 5 pounds in a week multiple times. How to keep the calories low for the next…

I restrained when I started, too. 1) Didn't want advice. 2) It can actually be rude in social situations. If I'm offered food, they simply want to hear a 'yes' or 'no thank you'. They don't want to hear about my limitations. I've lost 30 pounds & no one has noticed (commented). But that's not a motivator for me.

Me again... In reference to your need to vent...It is bad for your mental health to get so frustrated because the world does not want to conform to your view of perfection. Don't try to control what you can't. You imply that you might want to move just 'cuz other people don't eat "right"? Really? You justify it 'cuz of…

My parent's wedding picture (1960) shows my four grandparents standing next to my parents. My grandparents were all skinny by today's standard--not thin, but skinny. They were from TN. My dad's side were farmers. My mom's side owned an appliance store. When the farmer retired, he stayed skinny. He just ate less. He still…

It not 'vs' at all. It is a matter of what the goal is. If someone says their only goal is weight loss, then cico is all that is needed. If someone says they want to get healthy AND lose weight then cico AND fruit/veggie counting are appropriate. (Just to over simplify for sake of brevity.) I've read multiple advisors…

Hey. I'm 52 yr female--5'9". I've lost 30 pounds here. Got 20 more to go. I was taught to be overweight. I lost 20 pounds when I was 11. My mom lost 40 pounds 4-5 times in my life time. She probably should had lost 60-80 each time. She has lost 40 pounds on each & every diet out there. So I know they ALL…

I've found that I need a minimum of 400ish calories for lunch. Otherwise, I suffer consequences just like you. If lunch is just 400ish, then I need a 200ish calorie snack between 3 & 4 pm. If my lunch is closer to 500 calories, I go without the snack without any consequences. My dinner is larger--closer to 700 calories. My…

I think it's a big deal for those struggling with yeast infections. Otherwise, it's just another dietary Boogeyman.

Look into hobbies rather than gym-time. Dance lessons? The lessons themselves will get you sweating, but there are opportunities outside of the class after you know. Most dance class places offer dances regularly. Park systems, where I live, have outdoor Big Band concerts in the summer. You'll make friends. Hiking? If you…

Onion smothered steak 1/5 lb round steak 1/4 c flour 3/4 salt 1/8 pepper 2-3 tbl veg oil 1/4 t dried thyme 2 medium onions, sliced (can't have too much) 1 cup water 1 Tbl vinegar 1 clove garlic 1 bay leaf pound steak to 1/2-inch thickness; cut into 3/4 inch wide strips. Combine flour, salt, pepper. Dredge steak in flour…

Chocolate milk. Google "chocolate milk workout" & you'll see the research. Basically, any flavored milk is a perfect protein/carb ratio for rebuilding muscles after a work out. It comes vacuum-packaged now.

prioritize - My little quote to myself "Not really worth the calories" applies for much of that stuff. Like box cakes & canned icing are not worth the calories in my opinion. Homemade cinnamon buns? Oh Yeah! General rules-I made a rule in my 20's not to eat sweets before lunch. I found that much of it is gone by…

I go for real desserts made from real sugar. My goal is to limit how often a week. But if I'm craving a bit of sweet & can't partake, I'm surprised how much a glass of milk or a bowl of vanilla yogurt satisfies.

Assuming this was a scientific experiment, rather than a dieting technique... Pediatricians will weigh infants before/after nursing if they are not gaining weight properly. They do this to determine how much they are eating. So, this is a thing. I think your sample was too small--0.0625 lbs? If you are still curious, weigh…

Also recommend putting yourself under advice of Dietitian. There are a lot of Diabetic cookbooks in your local library. Actually, the diabetic diet is quite yummy, too me. I think nothing is actually forbidden, but you've got to monitor balance. The dietician will ensure you learn that balance.

Leftovers-Bummer on the no-leftovers-for-lunch. That's how I make my lunches interesting. How about if you "served" the leftover first? Ya know, move it into the fridge before you sit down to eat dinner? Today--leftover salmon & peas from dinner over a bed of romaine lettuce with salad dressing. I purposely always cook…

I think it tastes best in a dish--eggs, pasta, soup, casseroles, even pizza, etc. I never hide it in a smoothie. I think it enhances foods. It's blah raw in a salad. I can endure it with strawberries or sundried tomatoes. But, I prefer a wilted spinach salads. Yummy, but I always overcook. Bummer.

Screen time aside. Teens sleep needs increase back to those of a toddler--9 or 10 hours. Most don't get it & therefore have little energy. Sleep needs aside, teens lounge & move slow. They lumber. I took my two kids, & their friends, to a Fall festival thingie. The 8 & 9 year old girls were a blur in motion the entire…

Yes, I am allowed to eat anything, but not all things are beneficial. So, I deny myself nothing, but I do discipline myself. Are you assuming if there is no denying, there must be no discipline? Ah, but there is! I track my fiber, vitamin A, iron, potassium. These are the things that concern me based upon my situation. In…
