Welcome to MFP from another new poster. I started April 3rd - I've lost 5.6 pounds so far. I am taking it really slow - no appreciable exercise yet (I, too, have a very sedentary lifestyle) I'll tackle that eventually. Like you, I had a sitting down w/my dr. at my physical last year and she was tracking my weight having me…

I weigh myself every morning after I get up and use the bathroom. I have a really simple weight tracker on my tablet (Simple Weight Tracker) and I enter the weight in there every day. I've only been here on MFP for 11 days so I haven't made any official "weigh in" day yet.

Hi Everyone, I started on MFP on April 3rd weighing 269. My weight has been creeping ever so slowly upward over the past three or four years now - first it was 232, then 255 now 265 and two weeks ago at 269 I said I have to stop. So here I am 58 years old -I'm 5'6" - now weigh 265.2. My lifestyle is sedentary (office job,…

Hi Pitegny, I am really inspired reading your post. I started wearing my FitBit five days or so ago as I feel that a huge part of being successful will be getting out of this sedentary rut I am in. I am over the top excited about your success losing forty pounds and I hope that will be me! Congratulations!

Hi Lymas, Welcome and good luck! You and I are in somewhat of a similar situation - We are same age range and I'm empty nest also though I am working full-time still (and will probably be doing so for some time even though I'm soon to be 59). My daughter lives in the next state over (about an hour drive for me) she just…

Oh my goodness!! I tried this and it worked! I got on the scale this morning and same #. I stepped off - put just half of me on there - cleared that and then stepped on it again and Voila! I was down .6 pounds! Thank you for the tip!

Good for you! I would jump with glee to be at 254. I am a week into this - after an initial weight loss the scale hasn't budged from 265.4 in the past six days. I think it is smart to not weigh yourself every day. I am because I have a dr. appt on April 25 and I want to show her the pattern I am stuck in. I'm interested to…

I am so heartened to read this. My weight has not budged in the past six days. Every morning I get on that scale and it reads 265.4 - I tried moving the scales to different locations - get the same 265.4. I am not letting it get to me though cuz I know if I am sticking to entering my foods into my food diary, I am checking…

I weigh in every day too - I tihnk it helps keep me on track. Also, I think that it helps you learn how your body deals with certain conditions; i.e., responses when you up your calories (or lower) for a day or two, a heavy/light exercise day or a couple of days w/no exercise compared with what you eat, etc.

I'm buying myself a food scale - I think they make all the difference in the world.

Thank you for sending the link - yes emotion has a lot to do with it! I decided to take a shower before eating dinner and that took the focus off the food and allowed me to focus on what I was feeling - which really wasn't hunger but rather - my shoes were uncomfortable, I was cold (the afternoon got rainy and chilly and I…

Thank you everyone! I came home - took a shower washing away all the muck from the week - the incredible amount of rain and no sunshine we had here in New England, the late nights at work, the boring data project I'm working on, and just let it go with the water as it washed away. I couldn't find the thin crust DiGiorno's…

I'm eating - my food diary is open. I am meeting my daily calories. I start off w/Oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, omelet for lunch one day, burger and salad for lunch one night, mooshu chicken for dinner another night. I appreciate the support - not feeling picked on :) I'm thinking I'm going to stop and pick up the…

No I do not intend to live a "pizza-less" life. Working on breaking bad habits, giving up too easily/early, sticking with the program, remembering what my goals/dreams are. Right now I have a dr. appt. on 4/25 - I want to have a good discussion with her and will use these results to support my efforts.

Lol - define "devil carbs"

I have 637 calories left. I am trying to stick w/protein and veggies because I am really stuck seesawing between 3-4 lbs up and down. I figured limiting carbs may be the push I needed to get out of the back and forth. I am so tired that I feel my resolve is too weak to stick w/just a slice and a beer. And I'm not looking…

Wow - you look great! You're an inspiration!

I'm a desk worker too! This is my first week on MFP - working on getting 10Lbs or so off and then will try to tackle the FitBit's 10K steps in. I find myself reaching for the candy jar so absentmindedly its scary. I have to be more conscious of breaking these habits. I feel as though once I sit my butt in the seat my…

Hi everyone ~ Happy to have found this group! I am embarking on a weight loss journey to lose 100 lbs. Yikes - how did I get here? Anyway - not to mess around in the past - it is a new day!
