All of you have seriously been an inspiration. I just branched out and tried some creamy goat cheese on crostinis with fresh strawberries, balsamic glaze, and mint. So good!

@DancingMoosie Thank you for thinking of me! I appreciate it.

I'm going to be having jasmine rice, stir fried veggies with rice wine vinegar, garlic, and ginger as well as sesame ginger marinated chicken. Maybe I'll toast some almonds too.

Update 7/1/2020: I have been able to increase my steps to about 6,000 per day. There was one day I did 11,000 ( because of work) but that did not bode well. So far, so good. I am able to walk up the stairs 3-4 times with a bookbag that weighs about 10 lbs. I am still having trouble going downstairs however, there is a…

Yes, you are overreacting. Log it and move on. Food is neither good or bad and it takes a lot of energy to be guilty over something as simple as cake.

As of today, I completed 10k steps after having surgery on my knees 6 months ago.

@Chieflrg - Thank you for all of your assistance. I truly appreciate it.

Update: Decided to conquer my fear of not being able to physically get up from the floor. I lowered myself on the floor by sliding down on the couch. I can't quite bend my knees far enough to actually be able to sit down without the use of furniture. I was able to get up though, very awkwardly, but able to get up…

@Chieflrg I guess my biggest problem is I don't know what my long term and short term training goals are. I would like to get back to the way I was before where I was walking up to 3-5 miles a day without leg fatigue and my legs giving out. Or be able to do my stretches on the floor (which I can't quite do because I can't…

I did reach out to my PT today and I'm sure it will take a couple of days to get back with me. I agree that whatever exercise I choose I need to do it slowly. Like I said, I think I am really pysching myself out about this and am just nervous to do anything let alone stuff on my own without supervision. My head knows I…

@Cherimoose - I am really, really talented. I was not skiing. I was taking out the trash! Which is now why my nickname is Trash Panda or Rocket. However, I missed a step when I was going outside and landed on both of almost in a praying position, and it was on concrete. Scared me so badly because I was trying to get up and…

@nooshi713 - Yes, I went to both rehabilitation and physical therapy. While the rehab program was to help with activities of daily living with two leg immobilizers, the physical therapy focused more on making sure my knees were able to bend, I could walk straight, and didn't really focus a lot on strength. However, it…

There were a few final straws that made me change. 1. Both of my nieces, ages 15 and 4, said I wasn't fun anymore because I couldn't play with them like they wanted. (Tag, going to the park, etc.) 2. My glucose levels were not within normal range and was diagnosed with pre- diabetes. I saw how my grandma died of…

No one told me I would WANT to move more.

Sometimes our brain doesn't register the changes our body makes. This is why it is imperative FOR ME to track my measurements, both from the scale and measuring tapes, and graph it so I can visualize what has happened. Progress photos also help. For the longest time I couldn't figure out what everyone was talking about…

Heaviest is 260 in the 1st pic. Last pic is 180. Still have 40 pounds to go but I am super proud!

Quite sad that I had to look up the word camber. Maybe he did. My grandmother probably was just pulling my leg like she always did when I was being lazy. She always did that when she was trying to teach me a lesson about hard work.

Bourbon honey mustard chicken wings with super crispy french fries. And my grandma's fried chicken, period. Lard and bacon grease....yum!
-
That is quite true. Now the walking uphill, in snow, with bare feet was pushing it since she lived in the flatlands of Nebraska.

I have one from my grandma!

Agreed. I do tell people often that I am not comfortable talking about my body with anyone but my medical team. That normally gets them to give up after 2 or 3 times. Or I might not even add that medical team part. Sometimes I say, my body is not up for discussion. I will ask how is your day going and move on quickly.

Why yes, it is. I also am in the mood for a pan of those as well.

My grandma's chicken fried steak with loaded mashed potatoes and brown gravy. After that, all of the food because I'm hangry.

So this is a strange NSV, kind of. I fell on some ice yesterday and hurt my knee. Before I gained all of my weight, I would wear a knee brace to support it. For a long time (probably 2-3 years) I was unable to wear it. Fast forward to today, I am able to wear it again. Thank goodness!

Found out how to do it. I don't suggest this for everyone but I do weigh myself daily at the same time. This is what I do so I can understand my body better. Again, I don't suggest this for everyone but I am a nerd and like to see these things in black and white ( or in my Excel program... color. ) It is just important to…

I want all of these banana splits...perhaps with chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla...can't decide!!!

Heather, as many others have stated, there is no judgment here. You also have been provided with amazing advice in the previous posts. I know you do not know me but I am very proud of you and the first few steps you have taken. Keep it up. The only other things I would add to those that posted are the following: 1. Read…

I have a cute shirt that is my mini goal right now. It's a little snug in the stomach area but with a little bit more weight loss, I should be able to fit in it quite nicely!

@AnnPT77 - I always love your posts. They are so informative, well thought out, and keep the person's original post in mind. Sorry for the derail of the thread for a second. But seriously OP, make sure you listen to AnnPT77! She is a wealth of knowledge.
