  • My discomfort with the challenge is that she is posting about it. My understanding is that she wants to challenge herself to eat under the line so that she has a better understanding of the challenges faced by people in poverty. That is certainly a worthy goal that will surely lead to some self-reflection and awareness.…
  • @lsutigerscage Check out PB2. It is basically peanut butter powder. I think it is delicious and packs a lot of pb flavor for far fewer calories. For me I was bad at judging rice and pasta.
  • 3200m.
  • 3600 today
  • 2550 yesterday, 2600 today.
  • 3200 Including 10 x 100 alternating free and IM 400 fly drill with fins (1, 2, 3, or 4 arm fly by 100)
  • @girlwithcurls2 for me it would be the swim, because if I get in a swim, then I am a lot more likely to be able to control my eating because I am mentally in a much better place.
  • 3200m today, 3200m yesterday. Yesterday I did a ladder set that wiped me out. Today I was slow and wanted to get out after 1200.
  • 2600m today 300 breast 300 pull with paddles 300 kick no fins 1600 free with fins 100 cooldown
  • 3200m yesterday. 300 breast 500 pull with paddles 400 kick with fins 800 free with fins 400 back 6 x 100 IMs 200 cooldown I am hoping to get back to regular swimming this week. I had a lingering bout of bronchitis all January and a lingering bout of lack of motivation in February.
  • I've had several of the Sportcounts ovet the years. When they work they are great. But the last two I've had didn't last more than a month. My goal is not technique, my goal is either distance or speed. When I do distance sets I would really like to not have to count laps but just to let my mind wander.
  • @mandy_godfree Do you still recommend the Swimmo? I am seriously considering getting one since it seems to have everything I want (lap counting and heart monitor) but there are not a lot of reviews online and what is out there seems mixed. I was glad to see your post when I searched the forums. Does it accurately count…
  • Finally back in the water after a bad bout of bronchitis. I swam 2500 yesterday. I won't be able to swim again until next weekend but then I should be able to get back into regular swimming.

  • 2650 yesterday. I was only planning on a 1600 but was trying to avoid someone who was in the hot tub. Yeah, that's how lame I am--I'd rather swim another 1/2 mile+ than make small talk with certain people. 2000 today and a clear coast to the locker room

  • I attempted my own challenges. 1. Bilateral breathing--did this. I generally do bilateral breathing until I get tired, so this wasn't a huge challenge for me. 2. I didn't do the sprints. I really dislike sprints and I haven't wanted to do the. Maybe next time 3. I bought myself short fins so I've had fun using those. I…
  • I met my goal and have swum every day since I last posted except for Christmas. I have swum 2000-2500m with two swims of 3200, including one today. However, I bought myself short fins for Christmas, and have been using them for 500-1000m, so it feels like I should factor that in when counting my total distance.
  • I swear I thought I already posted this but I can't find it. I need to get back on track as I've plateaued since Sept due to stopping logging. Starting Weight: Weight loss goal for 11 weeks: 8 Pounds Jan. 1- Jan. 8- Jan. 15- Jan. 22- Goal: 3 LBs. Total loss for Jan.- Feb. 5 Feb. 12 Feb. 19 Feb. 26 Goal: 3 Lbs. Total Loss…
  • Last month I signed up for a challenge at my gym that involves a certain number of workouts before the end of this month. With my 10 day break earlier in Dec I need to work out almost daily to reach the challenge goal. So I have swum daily since last Sat. Sun 2100, Mon 1400, Tues 1450, Wed 2000, Th 2000, today 2000…
  • 2100m today. It was one of those swims that was the most boring thing ever. Each lap was excruciatingly tedious. I kept wondering why I don't find something fun to do for exercise like kickboxing or Zumba. I wanted to do 2500 but after I turned at 2100 I made it to the flags and I bailed. I never do that--I always set a…
  • Back in the water after about 10 days of snow, work craziness, and a child with a virus. 2500 m, and I got up at 4:45 am because I was so eager to get back to it. Interestingly, this past week I have had a fairly constant strange sensation on my neck, like there is something touching me. It has not been painful, just a…
  • 1600m Slow but done.
  • Congrats on completing that. Great pace! I aspire to be that fast. I like a lot of warm-up. Even when I was a kid I'd do a ton of warming up at meets. I cannot imagine hitting your pace without a warm-up.
  • 4800m. I planned on doing 5100 but I got an excruciating charley horse in my calf when I flip turned at 4775m. I basically dog paddled back to the shallow end and limped out. I did a hard but good ladder in the middle of the workout: 500, 400, 300, 200, 150, 100, 75, 50, 25 on a set pace. I did a lot of kicking before and…
  • Yikes, that should say a 1000. I would have been thrilled with a 2000!
  • Lifeguard showed up late so I only had time for a 2000.
  • 2000m today. It took until1600 to feel into it, but then I had to go to work. 1700m Monday, with a great, tough free sprint set: 200, 150, 125, 100, 75, 50, 25. I am trying to increase my speed to get fast enough to do some open water events by the summer.
  • @BradyPug I am not sure what would be best. I think it would be fun to experiment with a kickboard and buoy and see how they feel. A lot of people feel that they can swim faster with the buoy because of the bouyancy. Could you try to use a kickboard but hold your arms straight and keep your head in the water, lifting it to…
