  • I’m 5’ 4” 28F weigh 185 lbs and workout 4-5 days a week plus 8000 steps a day and can maintain on an average of 2500-2600 calories. Aiming to lose 20-30 lbs.
  • Wow this post is so triggering but I still want to help you. I’m a recovered anorexic and the reason you are not hungry is because your body is literally surviving. Hunger is actually a good thing because it means you have a normal metabolism. When you go to the extremes and starve yourself then cortisol levels can blunt…

  • Hey I just wanted to give you a big hug! I completely understand your frustration because I also have PCOS. You most likely have some sort of insulin resistance so I would actually suggest a lower carb diet but NOT keto, just aim for 100-120g per day. Also pleeaaase don’t go down the 1200 calorie route. Been there done…
  • 10k-14k is not lightly active. You’re not eating enough! I would assume you are more active than you think. Go to maintenance for 2 weeks and then reduce 200-250 calories from that.
  • I just did this and selected ‘very active’ from the activity level and it gave me 2290 calories…!
  • Thank you but I already take a Vit D oral spray.
  • I can’t comment on my weight because I recently started lifting heavier weights so the scale has skewed my results..it’s just going up and down the same few pounds. I have lost a total of 6 inches overall from my whole body. I guess I was just asking if maybe my deficit is too big because I’m feeling tired and muscles are…
  • Hey you said you have leptin resistance and that causes hunger issues. If your leptin is low then your ghrelin is high which is why you are so hungry. Also the 20-30g of protein per sitting is a myth! Plenty of people eat 40-50g of protein per meal and are perfectly fine. You keep saying your protein, fibre and fats are…
  • Thank you I never thought of when I consume calories but I might try eating my breakfast earlier. Also alternating between higher and lower calorie days sounds like something I could try as I’ve never done that before either.
  • That’s the thing, my calories vary a lot depending on what I do. I don’t have a fixed number! I just calculated my average calories for the past 3 weeks and they’ve been 2100-2150. I’m definitely eating enough.
  • Yes I’m getting 5 workouts a week plus extra steps of around 8000-10000 steps most days. Workouts include 3 fullbody dumbell workouts and 2 yoga vinyasa flows. This is just what I enjoy and I don’t intend on changing my exercise routine. I’m actually eating more protein aiming for at least 110g per day. I get plenty of…
  • I ended up maintaining my weight during the intuitive eating phase. But I wasn’t working out and I wasn’t eating properly so I’m surprised. It was also my sisters wedding so there was crazy amounts of food. I haven’t tracked my food properly since May this year. Hair loss has been on going for a few years now due to…
  • First of can I just say amazing progress! You look great! Okay now back to your question…if 1600-1700 is the TOTAL number of calories that you eat and taking into account all the exercise then I’m going to say you’re definitely undereating. You need to do a reverse diet. I used to gain weight on 1800 calories because I…
  • Hey I’m not an expert but on this but I went through something similar where I ate low calories for years and long term it ruined my health. 1350 is waaaaay to low for that kind of activity so I think you’ve definitely got some adaptive thermogenesis which is what happened to me. You NEED to break through the mental fear…
  • Thank you and I’m not taking any medication/supplements recently. I’m definitely going to try this one out! Anemia runs in my family as my mum, aunts and grandma have it too.
  • Thank you, makes sense…I feel like due to lack of movement my appetite has plummeted and I’ve been possibly eating 1000-1400 calories a day (it’s very easy for me to undereat without realising for weeks). Could this also be adding to my stress levels? I really don’t want to track my food either…ughhh! It’s just too much…
  • Can anyone answer my original question if the body needs more calories whilst recovering from an injury?
  • Thank you! I do suffer from anemia and I feel like diet alone won’t help me with my iron levels.
  • Losing muscle does slow down your metabolism but don’t worry once you start building it back your metabolism will speed up back to normal!
  • I’m a small 5’ 4” girl who can maintain her weight on 2400-2500 calories a day. I don’t do extreme exercise I just walk and do yoga at the moment. I’m currently losing weight on 2000-2100 calories a day. Metabolism can change and adapt to higher calories which is what mine did. I think your trainer is on the right track…
  • It’s normal. I took a 6-7 month break from dieting and when I got back into a calorie deficit I was hungry! It lasted for only 1 week and then my hunger went away. Give it time. Also I doubt it’s the protein because that’s the macro nutrient that blunts hunger. Personally I’ve found lower carb (100-130g per day) and higher…
  • This happens to me as well! I only lose weight once a month after my period so I have to wait another 5 weeks before the scale goes down. At this point the only way I can help is to tell you you’re not the only one. Sometimes I even wonder if the scale is broken…
  • It sounds like you’re attempting a recomposition because your weight is fine for your height. Have you actually been in a deficit for 6 weeks or do you think you’ve been in a deficit? The reason I’m asking is because you can be in a deficit some days and then not in a deficit on the weekends. If you are weighing and…
  • Hey I’m also a 27 yo female from the U.K. with about 20-30 lbs to lose (not sure of the exact goal weight but I’ll see when I get there ). I’m also aiming for balance, consistency and sustainability. I’ll send you a request.
  • https://tdeecalculator.net/result.php?s=imperial&g=female&age=30&lbs=225&in=70&act=1.55&f=2 Well according to the TDEE calculator above you would burn about 2800 calories with moderate exercise so your trainer is actually right. You say you have been on a rollercoaster for weight loss so maybe you’ve been restricting…
  • This was my problem exactly and it’s what lead me down the dark hole of eating disorders! I’m glad you are aware (and I am now) because these obsessive behaviours ARE HARD TO BREAK. I’m either perfect or I’m not and my advice would be journal these thoughts. The exact stuff you wrote above needs to be journaled and when…
  • Oh yeah, sorry I definitely worded that wrong. What I meant was that she’s never struggled with being overweight etc and she’s always been slim. But yeah her advice for ED sufferers is good (I have an ED past too), especially getting them be more relaxed with food. My main issue was that she thinks EVERYONE is suffering…
  • I tried intuitive eating for 2 months and I gained 5lbs. I also ate intuitively when I had my ED because I was listening to my body. They say that you need to go through the 10 commandments and the final one is gentle nutrition! Excuse me but why encourage weight gain in the first place? I’m glad you managed to lose weight…
  • What are your stats? Age, weight, height? Without enough information it’s hard to know. You can absolutely lose weight with pcos and a calorie deficit but what you eat also matters because you need to find foods that satiate you and actually help you stay in a calorie deficit. Generally women with pcos are more sensitive…
