  • I'm 5'5" and wear a size 6 in some things (clothing sizes seem to be very inconsistent. I'm a traditional size 10 but in some modern brands I would wear a size 4. 6 seems to be the best fit in most brands). I'm currently 130, 39" at the fullest part of my bust and hips and 28-29" around the smallest part of my waist.
  • I got meal kits delivered for a while (Every Plate was the service I used as it was the cheapest). From that I learned how to make some pretty tasty and very economical food from scratch.
  • Please add me. What OP wrote about their parents' health struggles really resonates. I'm making changes now so that I can still do the things I love when I get older.
  • Thank you! This does work. I can post text updates but still am not sure how to add photos to status updates. If anyone knows how to do this let me know. Thanks for your help so far, it is appreciated.
  • I'm on IOS. When I tap my profile pic it takes me to all of the auto updates that come from my garmin watch or when I finish my diary but I don't see where I can add a status. Same in the newsfeed. I don't see the (+) icon anywhere.
  • I can relate to self-sabotaging when I focus too hard on a certain deficit or certain numbers, especially when the scale trends the wrong direction for a few days. I've lost about 15 pounds since 2020 by increasing my activity level (I started running, and I also started walking dogs for a living). It sounds like you live…
  • When I was an adolescent/teenager in the 90s, my parents always bought a huge stack of paper plates. We had lots of regular plates as well. We tended to use the paper plates for things like toast and microwaveable snack foods, but always ate meals off of regular plates. The thinking was if it "wasn't worth dirtying a…
  • I'm 5'4" and 62kg, so to lose weight I don't get a lot of calories to play with. 1400-1500 seems to be the right number for extremely slow weight loss for me (before adding in exercise, which I have intentionally ramped up in order to have more wiggle room). I estimate a home cooked burger and fries to be around a thousand…
  • The color fades. I got a ton of them on my hips and butt when I hit puberty and my hips widened. I have very very pale skin and they were reddish-purple, very noticeable (just what a 12 year old wants, right?). After a year or two they faded to the same color as the surrounding skin. It’s been ~25 years and I still have…
  • Just added all of you guys.
  • Forerunner 35. I have pretty small wrists and the size does bother me a bit, especially when my sleeves get caught on it. It’s a few years old now, and I have noticed it leaves marks on my skin (almost like healed burn marks), I think from the lasers.
  • I’m 5’4”, 132 pounds and I’m a size 10 on the traditional sizing chart based on my measurements. However, when I try things on at the store I’m usually a 6, sometimes a 4. It really depends on the brand since they all seem to make up their own sizing chart (and sometimes they don’t even adhere to it *cough cough Levi’s…
  • Do you only weigh once a week? I weigh daily and although I’m still more invested in the number than I should be, I see it go up 3 pounds some days for no apparent reason, then come back down over several days. After seeing this happen a few times I find it much less alarming. The over all trend is a loss, although a slow…
  • If you’re going for convenience, there’s the little packets of powdered drink mix that you add to water. My favorite is the Arizona green tea. The snapple teas are good as well. I put the packet in 20 oz of water instead of the 16 it recommends. If you’re going for pretty/all natural, a couple slices of lemon and a bit of…
  • Slightly different take: I work at a Veterinary hospital and we were trying to help a client get her dog to lose to lose weight. Client replaced the dog’s regular treats with dehydrated lamb lung because she thought “dehydrated” meant it had no calories. Needless to say that didn’t help.
  • I mean, I don’t know if you read the part about where I walk 22 miles a week with my dog, but no—a walker’s not in my future unless it’s unavoidable. I love to hike, I typically go every weekend and I really enjoy myself. I enjoy being active. I just don’t particularly enjoy going to the gym. And at 36, some things are…
  • Thank you for this info, I did not realize that water retention could last so long. I guess I always thought it was just a few days? That’s good to know.
  • Thanks guys. I know I’m not overweight but I’m definitely not as lean as I’d like to be, especially in the midsection. I’ve always been on the smaller side (the heaviest I’ve ever been was 143) and I maintained 128 with no effort all through my 20s. I think I just need to be more patient, it’s just hard when I’m making an…
  • -they don’t taste good. Really hard to get them down after a week or two. Chugging something that tastes gross to get it over with is a really unsatisfying way of “eating”. - i started craving real food like crazy. Like, fantasizing about food was the only thing getting me through choking them down. - I lost about 4…
  • This is a very idealistic way of thinking about food and in theory, it would be wonderful and solve a lot of problems. But there are some things you need to consider: - what will you do when there is temptation? You might not buy super fatty, calorie dense food for yourself, but what if there’s cake at work? What if you…
  • Can I jump in? Today’s weight: 135 Easter weight: 128 My ultimate goal is around 125 so I’m prepared for a slower loss. Is there a group for this challenge or do we just post here weekly?
  • I find a style I like and then cruise around online to see if there’s overstock anywhere for cheap. I bought my most recent pair of Nikes off of Poshmark (lots of gently used clothing for cheap on this app). They were new in the box for half the price they would have been at the store. I am totally fine buying a $50 pair…
  • There are a few possibilities here. Which do you think is most likely to happen? Which is the one you want to happen? 1. You “eat clean” forever from here on out and you never, ever even once in the rest of your life ever taste McDonalds or KFC. Only steamed broccoli and bland chicken forever until you die. Them’s the…
  • When do you normally get the urge to snack? What do you normally snack on? Is the issue that you are hungry, bored, or feeling unsatisfied? Normally right when I get home from work is a dangerous time for me. I’m hungry but dinner is an hour or so out. I could eat chips out of the bag or a few handful of nuts and then not…
  • I will look into the lacing, thanks. My trail runners are saucony and they seem to fit well, they just have no ankle support. The boots fit well when they were new but as they’ve worn they’ve gotten quite loose. I have to wear very thick socks or two pairs of socks or my feet slide around in them. With the right socks they…
  • I’m pretty diligent about keeping them at the nub. I trimmed them right before my hike yesterday so it wasn’t that. I’ve heard horror stories of people losing entire toenails— I don’t want to go there!
  • The toes in general, especially the big toe and smallest toe. A couple weeks ago I got a blister in between the toes, but it turned out there was a fir needle in my shoe that was rubbing around and may have contributed. I can never seem to find shoes that fit just right. I tend to think they’re too small when I buy them…
  • Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys, I’m going to try the trail runners next week and see how it goes. I forgot to mention during the week I usually walk the dog 3 miles daily, or I run on the treadmill about the same distance. I try not to do the weekend warrior thing!
  • It’s the toes. Sometimes the balls also but usually just the toes. Yesterday’s hike had a pretty steep portion and going uphill is no problem but coming downhill is murder on my toes. I might try just changing out my socks and wearing trail runners. They’ll for sure get soaked but I always take my shoes off when I get back…
  • Yesterday it was 3 hours 40 minutes, 9.5 miles. I usually wear thick wool-blend socks. Yesterday I wore a pair of running socks under a pair of thicker wool socks, which seemed to help somewhat. I’m thinking about trying the insoles. Do you have to get your shoes a size bigger so that they fit?
