I was able to ignore a 60lb gain in a year and a half (caused by meds) by wearing babydoll dresses. Thought I wore it well until my 5 y/o told me I looked like I had a baby in my belly.

If you are sure you are logging a deficit fairly accurately and haven’t experienced any losses for at least 4 weeks (or if you have been at a deficit for about 12 weeks (less if you are leaner) ) consider a diet break. I’m on one right now. It’s a little worrisome that I’m not accurately calculating maintenance calories,…

I have read that is is common to not feel hungry while eating a very low calorie diet. This doesn’t mean it is healthy, however, and MFP will ban you if you promote it.
-
@Lillymoo01 I think you meant that the equipment over estimates calories burned, not underestimates.
-
Love that! I like to try on my SW pants to see how far I've come and then my small pants to see how close I'm getting to goal.
-
Thanks everyone! Sounds like I just need to keep plugging along until I get more data to figure out my actual TDEE and in the meantime I will shoot for 2000 maintenance.
-
If I'm losing 3 lbs/week eating 1200 calories, it would seem to me I'm at a 1500 deficit and for maintenance I would add that back, no? @RunRutheeRun I did change MFP to maintenance and it made my new goal 1570 but that doesn't seem high enough given that I've been losing weight fast eating just 370 calories less than…

I think you look great too but if it bothers you, lose a little more weight, wait a bit, and it should firm up. I checked and it seems you can still lose 25-30lbs and still be at a healthy (albeit lower end) BMI. That amount of weight can drastically affect the appearance of your belly if that is where you store the most…

Am I missing something? OP’s doctor told her that her calorie intake was appropriate as long as she didn’t experience any side effects. Isn’t it possible that her doctor has determined her particuar risk of heart disease, stroke, HBP, diabetes, gout...etc outweigh any possible risk of going below a general recommended…

It is a bit of trial and error but as I understand it your activity level setting doesn’t take into account working out. Given that you are running around all day, I would chose “lightly active” for your activity level. Then each day enter your workouts into MFP and eat back 50% of those calories. Women have to wait about…

I don’t have anything to add to the great advice above except to reiterate that we are all pulling for you and can’t wait to see you in the success stories!
-
Great post. I am so happy that you have managed to retain your sense of humor and weight loss! Plus you made me lmao.
-
Look up your workout on MFP and log it. People usually start off eating back 50% of those calories until they are better able to estimate their workout burn. After you factor in these calories you might not be eating much if anything over your goal. Also a whoosh isn’t just water weight (although your newbie loss will…

You’d probably get more responses if you put what type of friends you are looking for in the header. ie. “Seeking friends dropping 25 lbs,” or “5’4” or “eating 1550 cal/day” or “in the UK” or “30 y/os” etc.

I have been looking for research on this topic. Do you recall where you found the newest research? A link would be a amazing. Thanks.

I have a hard time keeping exactly at goal every day. So now I average out for the week. I also have to skip breakfast because I prefer a larger lunch/dinner. I didn't know all of this when I started though. I logged over my goal for weeks before I figured out how to keep under goal. I realize it was easier for you last…

Try to find out where you are eating in advance so you can check out any menu/nutritional info. When you are out to eat, try to chose low calorie options like chicken with a side of veggies. Then log them as best as you can. You mentioned that you eat 5X per day. Is it possible to switch that up for a week? Because you may…

Wasn’t trying to slight you @RunRutheeRun. “1200 is too low” is a common refrain on MFP and it is annoying because I could be safely losing 1 lb/week but keep at .8 as not to go below the 1200 minimum. So for us sedentary shorties 1200 is even higher than we’d like to eat to lose at the rate of our taller brethren.
-
It irks me when people say 1200 is too low without knowing age and height. I am old, short and sedentary with a 1200 goal to lose only .8lbs per week at 145lbs. It’s not too low for many people.
-
Makes sense to me! It’s clear you have learned how to manage your weight while still living life. Amazing accomplishment. You do MFP proud.
-
I love how much success people have on MFP! Glad I stumbled on this site when I decided to lose weight because it has worked like a charm. I lost 22 lbs from Oct-Dec 2017 Will lose 35-45 in 2018 Now I look like I am only 4 months pregnant instead of full term. Soon hopefully people (including my 5 year old DD) will stop…

Nor do we utilize fish oil because of this: https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/fish-oil-friend-or-foe-201307126467 I have read about different diets/food choices to combat signs of ADHD. I'd recommend that you try those if you are really interested in a natural approach.

This is why I won't eat or feed my child vitamins unless a doctor recommends them to correct a deficiency: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/healthy_aging/healthy_body/is-there-really-any-benefit-to-multivitamins http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20161208-why-vitamin-supplements-could-kill-you

Oops. I meant losertown.org.

As I understand it, the MFP active/sedentary settings are for your activity level outside of working out. So if you are at a desk job, you should most certainly set MFP to sedentary. Next, people usually only eat about 50% of their exercise calories because most people find that MFP and their fitbits overestimate these…

I'm glad you are happy with a juice diet but keep in mind that your initial weight loss will include a great deal of water. So unless you take that into account, and lose more than your goal weight, if you don't continue eating/working out for a deficit you will regain this weight. Also, I'm sure we can all agree that…
-
I'm at 1200/day because I am sedentary too. It's not an unreasonable amount of calories if that is what MFP has recommended and you aren't losing too fast. I have found that if I skip breakfast and eat lunch then I am not as hungry as if I had eaten breakfast for some reason. Then I eat a large lunch and a smaller dinner.…
-
Are you logging? Typically people overestimate their workouts and underestimate their food intake. If you are at a deficit you will lose weight short of some medical problem.
-
I’m sorry about all of the difficulties you have had to face. It sounds like you are off the steroids though, so that should make it easier to lose weight. You can still lose weight without exercise as long as you eat the MFP recommended amount of calories. At the same time, however, I have seen people in wheelchairs who…
