  • I don’t mind friends but I cannot stand all of the email blasts when you like a post or comment. And god help you if your friends have a lot of friends that comment-you get emails for all those randoms too. Probably a way to change that in the settings, but for me it’s just as easy to keep a small, select group of friends.
  • It has been said that it takes at least 21 days to break a habit. You are 1/3rd of the way there! You will smell better, feel better and be wealthier. Just fantasize that you are freaking out at people until, poof, the feeling passes and you are a more desirable version of your old self.
  • You sweet talker you. Let’s hear it for longer lifespans!
  • Good luck @shazia20 ! Good link suggested for former WWs. Hopefully there are some people here with slimfast experience to support you, but the bulk of the MFP success stories I’ve read have come from people employing a flexible diet with lots of protein. So you might want to consider simplifying things by eating whatever…
  • Hey fellow shorties. I’m just over 5”1’ 42 y/o. Since November 2017 I’ve lost 26 lbs without exercise. I’ve gone from a size 14 to a snug size 8. (SW 170/GW 108) I skip breakfast to save my calories for lunch and dinner. I use a food scale when I’m not eating out but I eat out a lot. I eat tons of carbs and sugar but…
  • GAH! I know this to be true I just don’t wanna. Sigh. Thanks for the push. I needed one.
  • @ayshakool I’ve been eating about 2000 for 5 days and staying the same weight so far. So I don’t think I get the full 2700 unfortunately. I want to fit in my pre-divorce clothes from when I was 108 lbs and maybe lose a couple more lbs after I get there. Are you not sure about your goal weight?
  • Excuse me while I fan girl, but huge thanks to all and especially the long-timers for chiming in. I mean, @Nony_Mouse your post is the whole reason I even know about diet breaks! You guys are helping so many peps become healthier, so props. I’ll update when I reach the end of my diet break with more data.
  • This.
  • I quit in August using the patch for a week or so until I would forget to put in on. I tried tracking calories at the same time but found it too much change at once. About three months later (after I stopped looking at people smoking with longing) I was ready to start watching calories but it took me another month to get…
  • Thanks for your replies everyone! Apart from desperately trying to get enough protein (as a vegetarian) I don't pay much attention to macros. I mostly eat carbs though, so I'm definitely not low carb. I have been logging for 7 weeks and have been very careful about weighing everything when I don't eat out. I upped my…
  • Thanks @NR81206 We are almost stats twins! This makes me feel a lot better.
  • I did it for a couple weeks but found I couldn’t maintain that pattern long-term. Now I just skip breakfast. If you think you can eat OMAD for the rest of your life it could work for you, but it didn’t work for me.
  • I was able to ignore a 60lb gain in a year and a half (caused by meds) by wearing babydoll dresses. Thought I wore it well until my 5 y/o told me I looked like I had a baby in my belly.
  • If you are sure you are logging a deficit fairly accurately and haven’t experienced any losses for at least 4 weeks (or if you have been at a deficit for about 12 weeks (less if you are leaner) ) consider a diet break. I’m on one right now. It’s a little worrisome that I’m not accurately calculating maintenance calories,…
  • I have read that is is common to not feel hungry while eating a very low calorie diet. This doesn’t mean it is healthy, however, and MFP will ban you if you promote it.
  • @Lillymoo01 I think you meant that the equipment over estimates calories burned, not underestimates.
  • Love that! I like to try on my SW pants to see how far I've come and then my small pants to see how close I'm getting to goal.
  • Thanks everyone! Sounds like I just need to keep plugging along until I get more data to figure out my actual TDEE and in the meantime I will shoot for 2000 maintenance.
  • If I'm losing 3 lbs/week eating 1200 calories, it would seem to me I'm at a 1500 deficit and for maintenance I would add that back, no? @RunRutheeRun I did change MFP to maintenance and it made my new goal 1570 but that doesn't seem high enough given that I've been losing weight fast eating just 370 calories less than…
  • I think you look great too but if it bothers you, lose a little more weight, wait a bit, and it should firm up. I checked and it seems you can still lose 25-30lbs and still be at a healthy (albeit lower end) BMI. That amount of weight can drastically affect the appearance of your belly if that is where you store the most…
  • Am I missing something? OP’s doctor told her that her calorie intake was appropriate as long as she didn’t experience any side effects. Isn’t it possible that her doctor has determined her particuar risk of heart disease, stroke, HBP, diabetes, gout...etc outweigh any possible risk of going below a general recommended…
