[
Sounds like a tu quo que. So let's say dieobesity costs infinity billion dollars a second. Does it follow that Fung is allowed to make stuff up with little to no actual empirical study, even if all of it only costs the time of those that fall for it?
Whatever he he made up is working.
He is however selling paid memberships on his site, which costs $39 a month. If you want 'personal' coaching that starts at $787 for 12 Group sessions, 30 minutes one-on-one will run you $175. Without fail every single one of these diet 'experts' are trying to sell something. If it's not supplements it's retreats,…

He is not selling you any pills. Fasting saves money, so don’t get twisted over it.

https://youtu.be/iatPAjf5I_Y This is a good long lecture. Muscle burn is not a thing during fasting according to study’s. Why would body break down muscle protein for energy when there is fat ready to burn? I’ll think about it as I’m eating dinner tonight
-
Yes of course there is a calorie reduction, but without overall metabolic slowdown. Supposedly! I think you missed the whole point of intermittent fasting. I’m testing it on myself and will let you know how it goes.

Posting my own numbers and making no claims, here is every weight in point from aria2 Fitbit scale. In the study dr Fung shows in low carb vale, people fasted every other day for 30 days. Exactly what I am doing. Don’t sense anything unhealthy about it.
-
Mostly water obviously. Define unhealthy weight loss and Please site the study.

I know it’s only been a week and a half but the weight seems to moving down very deliberately. Jan 21 BMI 24.8; Jan 30 BMI 23.3. Will see how long this pattern lasts. See attached

Not sure why you are blaming IF for lack of protein. You can eat as much protein as you body weight requires. . As far as I understand at least IF is not a bodybuilding tactic, it’s a body burning tactic.
-
This is valuable lesson of course. That’s you are eating crap all day, in large amounts, and still missing a macronutrient. When you not getting it your body craves more food, so you are still hungry after 4 slices. But back to you original question, is dr Fung a quack? Find one from low carb vale where he shows studies of…

One meal a day, every other day. So 1 meal every 48 hours. Nothing else between those meals, not even a stick of gum. For hydration, I drink few cups of Green tea, daily, including fasting days. That dinner meal is avocado, grass fed beef, nuts. No calorie count, ate the good stuff till full. Had apples and peanut butter.…

1 week update. Fasting every other day. Encouraging trend line!

I have maintained 155 all 2017 and half of 2018. Then came the cruise, the discipline was broken and am now 163-168 for the last 6 months. To the point; forget egg fast. The second you start eating you can’t stop. At least I can’t. So you eat nothing. Take your vit D, salt, and water. Sunday night Is when I ate last. Will…

Ground organic bison/lamb/beef is another way to save money
-
The only cost for consideration really is farmed meat/salmon vs organic and wild. Salmon is 8/lb farmed vs 14/lb wild. And strip steak are same cost 8 on sale vs 14 organic. So eating low carb cost more, and eating organic low carb is 2x. Nuts, veggies and olive oil will make up the rest of daily calories. No increase…

Food and exercise are 2 different realms. Not sure why or how are they linked in your question/mind. I exercised most of my life. Went low carb 2 years ago. There was no connection between the two.

Kroger brand wild caught canned salmon is the best food for the money. 2.89 a can. Mixed the whole thing with you spinach salad, douse with olive oil and you eating like a king

Hmm …soy is inflammatory to all humans, no?

It’s called ideal body weight (IBW). The calculation been around for 100 years and was tuned in a few times which only resulted in +-5lb. The Devine formula is most commonly used now, I believe, all medications dosage calculated off this IBW and then doc adjusts it up based on how fat his patient is. 5’7” male = 146#,…

You right, but I was not intensive fasting, just tried 2 weeks of one day on one day off. I’m relatively lean so an extended fast will just eat me up. Just trying to find the magic combo for fat burn only. I attached pic of my weight response to alt. day fasting.

The sites mention the gluconeogenesis is a demand driven process. Ok. So in a keto adapted individual glucose demand is not high, but still the body is not going to dump excess protein but convert it into energy/glucose, just because it has it. That is now available to burn instead of your own fat storage. Seems like…

I don’t own a ketone meter, I just hear folks on podcasts talking about keeping protein lower, to avoid higher insulin response, which raises insulin and drops ketones. If yours are not dropping you probably less sensitive or not eating nuff steak:)
-
The answer to original question is both steak and apple will spike equal insulin and stop ketosis ie fat furn. I learned some pathology especially from the last link. that was a very readable article, canadjineh. Still amazing that there is notable difference between animal protein from chicken bacon and fish and beef.

@GaleHawkins Taking d3 and k2 and omega3. Stopping all nuts today because of high omega6. Highly doubt that calcium can be reversed just hoping to assist my body from depositing more. I’m 40, GAC score 20. There is definitely a genetic component to this also. Just don’t know what my body is reacting to.

I’m not insulin resistant, but have Artery calcification, which is counter diagnosis to dr Krafts proclamation that all heart disease is IR undiagnosed. I’m very lean. My friend who is fat, recently diabetic and smoked 10 years longer then me has a calcium score 0. So it’s a real murder mystery as what’s driving what.…

You saying insulin rise from the steak protein is less inflammatory then identical insulin rise from oatmeal because of carb presence? Interesting. I’ll look into this. Post links please if you already have them bookmarked. I found that the index chart was generated off https://ses.library.usyd.edu.au/handle/2123/11945…

There is no bacon or sausage without dextrose period. The best you can do is avoid some crap brands that load corn starch into you sausage. Here attached are pics of my personal fave. At Kroger.

No I don’t have a premium account. Try logging into the full website, it has more setup options. I don’t see that feature thru my phone. Heybales is correct, the exercise in mfp is meaningless since Fitbit does not see it. I remember disabling exercise because at one point mfp was subtracting by default. I don’t think it’s…
