  • Well our government isn’t. They couldn’t organise a pee up in a brewery. I’m always impressed that conspiracy theorists think the government is hiding lots of stuff 🤣
  • Hmm 🤔 I’d probably injure myself. I’d rather go at an appropriate volume and pace. Sorry if that’s boring!
  • Update for those interested: used the EMS twice for 20 mins on the peroneal high up near knee (directed by the physio), straight after two heavy lifting sessions. It may be a placebo but the knee pain was greatly eased the next day and my legs didn’t feel as tired. I can’t believe it would work that quickly but I’m taking…
  • The key to being full is finding out what personally makes YOU feel full. Salads are great and I love them but they don’t fill me up. Can you spend a bit of extra time initially tracking how you feel with certain foods? It could help you to stick to the reduced calories over a longer period with a bit of investment in time…
  • And I have no idea what “antifatic” is supposed to mean: anti-fatigue maybe? Or anti-fat?!
  • Not the ad but found ‘em on Amazon 🤣
  • Valid points, thanks for picking it up! 😀. I was originally looking at TENS for pain relief and many of the gizmos on Amazon have both TENS and EMS. I reached out to a physio I know at work to ask if he had any advice / knew of any papers about using TENS for pain relief - particularly in those who are hypermobile. He…
  • For anyone interested / also considering one - I’ve borrowed an EMS from a department at work. It’s a medical device often used to support patients following leg surgery so it has tonnes of options. Using it for a month on an agreed setting to see if it has any impact. It’s free (unless I want one) and will be v…
  • I haven’t got the image of the ads but last year I saw a tonne of ads for leggings with caffeine in them. Supposed to magically make you lose weight and get rid of cellulite. The before pics were all unhappy women gesturing at their legs and tummies, then slim women beaming afterwards. The ads have stopped now so I’m…
  • I thought hard about whether to reply to this, as I don’t want to get into a debate of this kind on social media. But by being silent I’m being complicit and I think it’s important I am an ally when I can be. I don’t expect you to change your view or even reconsider your stance on this. But for others reading this - please…
  • Have you looked online at heart charities in your country? For instance, in the UK there are free online videos for people who have heart disease and they might be a good place to start - here’s one vid https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=O5YX5xg8Seg They won’t tell you what to do each day but they should be safe(r) for you…
  • I think the problem is that a lot of us attach our value to our appearance ie if we’re fat we’re somehow not worthy. And advertising or how we are treated in some parts of society etc can certainly reinforce that. But being fat - or being too thin - does actually have health repercussions. As does too little exercise.…
  • I do actually do good mornings with the band looped around my neck, so stand on the band, feet shoulder width apart, loop around neck BUT hold the tension tight in your hands up by your shoulders so it doesn’t pull on your neck. You can either do them tempo or go for speed volume - either way gives me a burn. I don’t know…
  • I’ve blocked (and reported) three men in the last few weeks. I never normally accept friend requests but I accepted them, for some reason. The last one was a crotch pic. The other two were inappropriate messages. And I’m a middle aged old fart so yes - it DOES happen.
  • For those who aren’t sure what species @yirara is - here’s a cute IG reel! 😀 https://www.instagram.com/p/C3AqaOvoxMA/?igsh=emx1ZDAwbml4NWN0
  • For quads, try sitting on the end of a bench, get the bands wrapped around the feet for the bench and do sloooowwww leg raises. No idea how you’d make that work when away from home (use a chair in front a door?) but I had to do those for rehab. They blooming killed and made my quads shake. Also v good for glute thrusts if…
  • I’m not going to fight you, as I’ve seen the damage victim shaming can cause. BUT - there is emerging evidence that the gut biome can affect the brain; until recently it was seen a bit as woo-woo. Now there’s early evidence that the gut biome could be causing epigenetic changes, leading to conditions including…
  • Zombie thread brought back by a spammer 🙄
  • Do I use more butter than olive oil? Yes. Because butter is locally produced and is TONNES cheaper than olive oil imported from other parts of Europe. So it might not be taste preference or lack of education about how much one should use, it could actually be price point . I would also add that Italy has amazing produce…
  • Uh yeah, I definitely don’t need to worry about building up my quads or hammies! There’s always room to improve but those are pretty stacked already! 🤣
  • I think the recommendations we will all make will be linked to the exercise we personally enjoy. So, what do YOU enjoy doing? Do you already enjoy jogging, cycling or rowing? Because if you don’t, it could be a very expensive mistake to buy indoor equipment. I know people that keep fit (or get fit) doing things like online…
  • Ohhh I hadn’t thought of that. Drat it. I’m struggling with bad knee pain at the moment and it’s due to my quads. I also end up being really stiff - yet still flexible - which is really irritating. I’ve only realised recently I’m hypermobile so I hadn’t thought about what would happen if I actually relax my muscles!
  • The one I’m looking at is in the sale! 😀 purely considering that brand on recommendation from someone, but I can see Amazon have tonnes. Interesting that it helps with period pains - hadn’t considered that.
  • Try NOCCO - has caffeine, vitamins no carbs, low calorie - a load of lifters swear by it. It’s fizzy so I personally can’t drink it when working out but it has a huge following in the weightlifting and powerlifting world.
  • I just use skimmed milk in my coffee - I brew filter coffee, heat some milk up and just add that. Low calorie, and I don’t like sweet drinks. If you need sugar, then a tsp is only 16 calories so still not too bad.
  • I think the sleep is one of the biggest factors - I personally am crap when my sleep is interrupted and I struggled so much. Just getting some sleep made me able to cope with everything else. I don’t have kids, and can I just say I’ve always thought being a parent looks hard. How people cope with no sleep with babies is…
  • I haven’t put weight on during peri (started 3 years ago and now on HRT) but my chocolate and wine consumption crept up, as coping mechanisms for the lack of sleep and feeling rubbish. I kept within my calorie limits, hence no weight increase, but I can’t say it was good for me. Back into a healthier pattern now the HRT is…
