  • I'm trying to wrap my head around this. You still have to propel your body forward on a treadmill. If you don't, you'll fall off the back. I can see how walking in place might be less energetic since you aren't moving yourself forward, but on a treadmill you are. It's just that the sidewalk is going the other way. It's…
  • Did you try "Add a device?"
  • I have no idea why I wrote that my total loss for April is eight pounds. I can do math. It's 0.8 pounds. Eight tenths of a pound, not eight pounds. That's not just an error, it's an order of magnitude error! The 7.3 pounds for the year is correct. Onward!
  • Not a typo; I just don't know how to spell bouillon . Now I want a bunch of bullion..... The soup was so good that I made another meal out of it. I even ate it cold with some yogurt instead of heating it back up. It's tasty when cold just like when hot. It's something that I could eat in the summer! I think I might soak…
  • Be careful of the salad for lunch thing. Salad dressing is usually a calorie bomb, and most places use way too much. Eggs can be hit or miss too depending how much oil they use. You should be able to fit a piece of toast into your budget if you want it. Stick to smaller portions might be good. Ask if places have a child's…
  • I think I've been considering my new bike for a couple years. I got more serious a few months ago. It was actually on a lark. I was buying a new set of straps for my toe clips (yeah - I'm old school) for my daily-driver commuter bike (belt drive, internal 8-speed hub), and I asked one of the mechanics who's been there…
  • The view from my bike ride on Thursday behind my friend who is faster than I am. No way would I pull out my phone to take a picture while we were on gravel. I decided I could do it on the pavement. Sorry for the ugly power lines, but it was a nice ride. I'm still getting the fitment dialed in on my bike. I planned a short…
  • @rocket39 A few of us have been actively trying to revive this group. Please help us!
  • How big are these pizzas? I figure a basic slice of pizza is over 300 calories. It could be well over depending how many toppings or what kind of toppings. Maybe the nutrition label just changed the serving size? Where are you getting the calorie information?
  • Heaviest weight: 175.4 in early 2013. Original MFP starting weight (January 2018): 168.2 January 1, 2024 Weight: 155.4 (10-day average 155.8) March 30 (Starting Weight for this challenge): 148.4 (10-day average 149.2) April goal: Get back to lower end of maintenance weight range Ultimate goal: Stay in maintenance range…
  • Taste wasn't the question. The question was nutrition. If the vegetables in the giant salad I'm eating now were frozen, I wouldn't eat the salad (lettuce mix, jicama, red sweet bell, broccoli, carrot, celery, golden beet, home-grown sprouts, English cucumber). It might be as good or better nutritionally, but it would be a…

  • Frozen. Frozen vegetables can actually be better than fresh. Some of the nutrients start to degrade shortly after the vegetables are harvested. Some are harvested before they are fully ripe so they can survive the trip from the field to the warehouse to the grocery to your home and then until you cook 'em. Frozen…

  • Easily could be. Even ignoring all the veggies: * Juanita's tortilla chips are 150 calories per ounce. * White flour tortillas are maybe 90 each? Hard to know; some are more and some less. * A tablespoon of dressing cold be 60-120 calories. * There's probably mayo in the avocado sauce and more on the menu. * The side of…
  • Roasted vegetables. Cauliflower. Broccoli. Beets. Sweet potatoes. Parsnips. Rutabagas. You name it. Cut into smallish pieces, toss with a little olive oil and seasonings/spices of your choice. Salt. Pepper. Garlic powder. Dried chile. For sweet potatoes and sometimes for parsnips maybe cinnamon and/or nutmeg. Roast 'em and…
  • I sometimes get a math discrepancy between the iOS app and the website, but not for any individual food or meal or activity. It's only ever one calorie difference. I track how close I am to my goal as part of an ongoing challenge in a fun group I participate in, and I've noticed some days I'm one calorie closer to or…
  • @LillianRen You might want to go post this information in the APRIL weight loss challenge; this is the one from last month. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/comment/48033012
  • The app doesn't tell you to do anything. You can get an estimate of a calorie goal for how much to eat, and the app lets you log your food. To lose weight (fat) you just have to be in a deficit. Are you in a deficit? Your diary is closed, so nobody can give any feedback to assist you beyond this simple energy balance goal.
  • I concur.
  • If I throw my food scale in the water, it will for sure sink.
  • Took the bike back to the route I did the other day to see how the new shorter stem performed. I didn't really like it, so I rode back to the bike shop and had the original stem put back on. I like how the bike feels again. I'll need to put a few hundred miles on it and then decide if it's the right stem length for me or…
  • A new favorite of mine is split pea and barley soup. It's really easy to make. I add a LOT of garlic, a couple carrots, a chopped onion, and a hot chile. I think last time I added a few mushrooms. A pound of peas a half cup of barley, and of course a bunch of cumin and some bay leaves from my yard. I use Better Than…

  • The BMI scale also ignores whether you're male or female. Men "tend to" be more dense. That should theoretically put them higher on the BMI scale at a healthy weight. Women tend to be less dense, so theoretically would expect to be lower on the BMI scale. For fun, you could check out the "Smart BMI Calculator" at…
  • What kind of credentials does this nutritionist have who told you to eat every three hours? Did they suggest why you should do that? I would hate to have to get up twice overnight to eat instead of just sleeping a full seven to eight hours. Set an appropriate calorie goal and try to hit it. Don't try to go under your goal…

  • How old is your scale? Is it a digital scale or analog with a dial and spring? If it's an older scale that uses a spring, it may need to be replaced. I had one years ago that was horribly inaccurate. If I weighed myself on a balance and then weighed at home, I could adjust the zero so it would register the right weight for…
  • That seems very odd because they both pull data from the same database. Make sure you're looking at exactly the same entry. Look in the database and assure that the data are correct for each entry. It might be possible if she has a premium account that you're looking at net carbs on one and total carbs on the other?
  • Braised egg or eggs. Takes just a few minutes:* Heat a pan over medium heat. * Crack an egg or two into a small bowl. I'm using duck eggs lately, so just one of them. * Melt 5g of butter and maybe a little olive oil in the pan. * Pour in the egg(s) * Add a couple ounces (shot glass) of water. * Put the lid on the pan. *…
  • I haven't stopped tracking in the six plus years since I started. Sometimes I have to make estimates. I do wilderness travel, mostly by raft but also by canoe. We share meal prep. I used to go on a dive boat for five days in the summer, and food was provided. When I'm on a trip like that, I just make a guess. I have a…
