Yep, reminds me that bicyclists have probably already consumed "mass quantities" of insects. Then there is the notion of the "web rider" on trails. The lead rider makes first contact with any spider webs on the trail.

If you've eaten food from a manufacturer, you've probably already eaten worse, so I don't see a problem with this.

You are right. Just like I cannot trim a 2x4 with a tape measure alone, I cannot lose weight by only measuring my intake. I must also measure my calorie burn and make sure I cut down my consumption to be less than my calorie burn. I might be able to get my consumption below the burn without measuring. But I know where I am…

I can clearly see the one on the right has more peanut butter. However, without a food scale, I can't tell you how much more or how that would impact my choices for the rest of the day. So I'll weigh the peanut butter I use and as long as I'm in the 90-100% range of the portion I'm seeking, I'll log it as 100% If I'm over,…

Most humans like "some" humans. But liking ALL humans seems to be a challenge, even for the best of humans.

Since I'm using working out by 5:30am, and I really want a "real" breakfast after 7am so I'm not gnawing my arms off at 9:30, I have pretty much landed on the fruit or a slice of toast with a tablespoon of PB if I wake up below 100mg/dL. I don't usually get to test a hour later as I'm in the middle of a workout, and then…

I'm speaking solely with respect to weight loss here, so I don't disagree with the overall quality of life point you are making. I worked out 4-6 days a week, and I mean REALLY working out. I could outwork and outride almost everyone in my group and yet I still got up to over 265# (5'11" 50 something male) My point is, you…

N+1, my story is similar, down 50# anywhere from 200-225g carbs/day on a diet that has gone from 2250 cal/day to just over 2025 cal/day and 203g carbs (plus eating back about 1/2 of my exercise calories as the calorie figure wasn't MFP assigned, but diabetes coach assigned) Someone above said no fasted workouts. My…

Or it makes you lose your appetite because it tastes so nasty :)

I wanted to leave count in there for the play on words. One of the synonyms for count is to matter. :)
-
So a short synopsis is you don't have to count calories, but calories count when it comes to weight loss.
-
But WHAT are you losing? For every gram of glycogen you use, you use 3-4 grams of water. So sure, if I go on a ketogenic diet, I can lose big weight. Doesn't mean I'm losing fat. If 75% of what I've lost is water, that doesn't really help. I'm not saying one cannot lose on a keto diet. The question is always, WHAT are you…

That's why I like the bicycle. I can generate my own breeze as long as I'm moving. But when I stop, the waterworks start :)

Adding my anecdote here, as it seems to overlap with many of the things cited. I was using another app when I was serious about managing my weight. And not doing anything when I wasn't. I had the idea that if I could go out and ride 50 miles on my bike and outwork everyone in spin class, it was good enough. However, my lab…

I'm 53. I don't try to push through the pain as recovery takes longer. Just last night 50 minutes into a 60 minute spin class, and I'd been at just under 90% MHR for the past 40 minutes and started to feel a bit of cramping in my left calf. Shut it down for about two or three minutes during the sprint portion of the class.…

New Carbon Fiber bicycle when I drop below 200#

Is that like a mammogram, but smaller? Sorry, couldn't resist.

About 20 minutes of that was the actual work. Class started at 5:15 ish, the Les Mills Sprint class is about 20 minutes all out work with 10 minutes of rest built in. So the other 5 or so minutes was warm up and cool down. If the bike is to be believed, over 8 miles in 20 minutes of work. I know my legs were rubbery after…

Both, because I've been assigned a per meal and daily carb limit to manage T2Dm

I believe it was the National Academy of Sciences that found that only the E-I results of these tests had high correlation with other tests. I certainly wouldn't expect someone to choose a career based on the results of a test. However, I found it interesting that I was more of an E in a group setting, and closer to the…

FWIW, I'm a situational extrovert. (Edited to change that, I totally messed that up.) Say what? Years ago, when I was in the Army, I was given the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test. We took it while I was at Ft Gordon for Signal Officer Advanced training. I was an ESTJ with what I called a "flaming E" for full on extrovert.…

Or I was trying to be funny. Why do you assume I was making a big deal of it when I post a meme? That's about as far away from a big deal as the east is from the west.

I wonder if this is one of those things where if you've not been counseled on your appearance it's not a problem for you (the OP) personally. But others may be on the edge when it comes to the image the company wants to present, so an option has been presented. But they have to transmit it to all to CYA per HR.

If I get on an elliptical to warm up before some time in the weight room, I try to follow urinal rules. But I'm not bothered if someone joins in next to me. Now if they take MY spin bike in spin class, there's gonna be trouble

This thread brings to mind the Mythbusters episode where they "experiment" (I use the term loosely because there is no repeated data gathering to see if the premise holds) where they put Kari in a coffee shop with different sized breasts. To no body's surprise, the larger breasted Kari got the biggest tips. However, the…

Yep, I do lower than the SAD with respect to carbs, but I still have between 150 and 200g per day to get my 2025 calories. I'm about 30-40% carbs and similar for fat and protein. I've lost 50 pounds since February.
-
Isn't there some rule against this sort of negativity? That being said, I think I've only had 4 Oreos since 14 Feb. They are very calorie dense and don't go well with the goals of keeping my BG normal and losing weight. So I'd say the only thing that sucks about them, and all their generic and off-brand cousins is that…

Define promotes. It's hard to answer without knowing what you mean by promotes.
