  • I believe the root cause of ALL my addiction is sugar. Sugar in booze, sugar in simple carbs [flour], sugar period! I am clean and sober since 4-29-01, 19 1/2 years. I started my journey to recovery in Overeaters Anonymous. I heard the sugar and flour connection, quit eating them both right away, and released 95# in 9…
  • My understanding is: if wheat is a problem, don't eat it. There are many other choices. I have added Ezekiel Bread to my plan. BTW, this plan noted above is for the weight loss portion of the program. As the person gets closer to goal weight, larger portions are added in for maintenance.
  • My breakfast this am = 1 oz dry oatmeal + 1c water and cooked in microwave 3 min, 6 oz homemade no sugar added applesauce and 4 oz ricotta. It took me over 1/2 hr to eat as I read and responded on this site. Which tells me it was super healthy for me as it did NOT trigger my obsession and compulsion for sugar and flour.…
  • Yes, quantities are weighed and/or measured so there is no talking back from your addicted brain. "Did I eat enough?" "Did I eat too much?" bla bla bla I have had very little of that when I followed the suggestions in the book. It is very similar to the OA food plan that I followed many years ago. I have had a head injury…

  • Chicken breast or pork loin cut up w/ kitchen shears, seasoned, starch on side and veg. my go to... I was rocking 30 min meals way before Rachael Ray ever came on the scene. Meatloaf ingredients shaped into patties, poached in buillion, turn half way thru cooking and it is done in 15 min vs an hour+ in the oven...
  • Yesterday, I seared a London Broil in a porcelain cast iron pot, poured about 2 c of water over it, stirred the meat to loosen the bits off the bottom of the pan and threw it in the 350 degree oven for an hr and a half. Tossed about 2# of potatoes on top, covered again, cooked another hr and done. 1 1/2# meat cooked down to…
  • What protein do you have? Starch, veg?
  • I have been a compulsive eater, in 12 step meetings and then out when they close, for 20 years in Oct. I thank my Higher Power for the internet as I can stay connected! My closest face to face meeting is 75 miles away. [that's one way.] I live in northern Maine and we are finishing our 5th plowable snow storm right now. My…
  • We put up our Christmas tree today so I listened to Serius Music on my satellite tv, Christian Christmas music off & on all afternoon. I am praying for a Silent Night as I ready for bed...
  • I try to NEVER eat below 1200 calories per day. In the past, when I would try to not break thru that 1k ceiling, I was miserable: physically and emotionally and mentally! I also think I messed w/ my metabolism as I would be stuck at plateaus eating like that. I am following a pre-diabetes diet. I am eating below 42 g of…
  • Reading about procrastination really hits a tender spot. I have been going to counseling since Dec 2016 [communication issues] and this week she dropped a bomb. The reason I get excited to start a project and then rarely, if ever, see it through to completion is because I probably have ADD. So, now I know; what do I do?…
  • Congrats, Jenn! WTG!
  • 5 hrs and not one word of support? I am disappointed.
  • I put any meat in the crock pot cover it w/ water and Mrs. Dash. Cook on high 4 hrs or low 6 and then "doctor" it up. Canned tomato - sauce or any flavor diced or whole/ canned cream soup, LF/NF or figure the fat in if I am eating extra lean that day, ANY frozen vegetables [lean towards zucc, brocc, etc for italian, mixed…

  • steamed cabbage [covered in 2T cider vinegar w/ moderate sea salt and fresh cracked pepper], a yukon gold potato [1T butter, s/p] and 2 chicken sausage. YUM! 505 calories and 22 g of protein! Yeah, me!
  • Use the search button. I wanted one for 12 step groups but it is out of date. gl

  • I cannot handle the excess protein in low carb diets as I have 1 working kidney. Excess is my boggle; I have tried to weigh and measure my food for decades w/out the willingness to do it consistently. Today, I can; odat
  • I have 30+ left from my hundred. My spirituality is what gives me strength, one day at a time! As you can see, I am in recovery, 19+ years, and food has been my default for too long. NO longer, by God's grace!
