  • I’d hardly consider myself disciplined, I easily cave under pressure. But for me my old methods weren’t working so I opted to try something new. As an update I still haven’t checked the scale but I went from fitting into 36 inch waist to 32s so I’m sure I’ve made progress. I personally can’t wait for my next weigh in…
  • Couldn’t agree more - it’s important to recognize we are all individuals with different needs.
  • @stringsNlinks the worst part is my wife got me a cheese of the month subscription for my birthday that arrived two weeks after I started dieting. I managed to eat all the cheese but the “old” me would have probably gone through 1/3 of the box or more in one sitting. Each box is probably 3000-4000 calories.
  • @ahoy_m8 I guess it depends where you want to be in December. Growing up I remember it being cold and wet and snowy but I lived much more North than I do now. I’ve had December’s where I live now where I was in short sleeves on Dec. 24. I love fall time around here, my wife and I have been taking lots of walks around a…
  • @kshama2001 I can confirm we had trouble getting our hands on a small turkey and the grocery store pretty much told us the same thing. We had to make due with a bigger bird but less guests than we’d normally see around the holidays (because we only invited one other couple who effectively is constantly in self-quarantine).…
  • @Dogmom1978 My wife and I have ALMOST finished all of our left over turkey. We have way too much stuffing left over though so maybe to the freezer that will go. On another note, I had a sneak peak at my weight loss for the month (about 1 and a half weeks early) and I’ve lost more than expected. I’ve been extra cautious…
  • @missysippy930 You’re correct on the date but everyone I know celebrates on one or all of the days on the thanksgiving weekend. Usually visit one side of the family and the other side the next day. I have a rough idea of the Ingredients but it’s the serving sizes that’s going to throw me off the most. I think I’m just…
  • @Fflpnari Yes, we are Canadian. That’s what I basically planned as well but I cooked way to much food. The turkey we got was for 8 people we wanted smaller but the stores were sold out. No regrets though cooking this was good practice for the future.
  • @Lietchi That’s what I’m thinking. The two big differences between me and my wife (other than gender) is they growing up I was more athletic and I always shake my legs. We are currently both working from home, and eat the same foods say for small snacks (fruits/crackers). I just did the math, and the estimate for fidgeting…
  • @AnnPT77 bout as accurate as I can get I think. Both my wife and I have been losing weight relatively equal to if not slightly greater than what we would expect to lose based off goal and how far off from our goal we’ve been each week. We pretty much weigh every thing we eat and we do a lot of home cooking so no eating out.
  • Honestly I don’t pay attention to women’s clothes. I notice when my wife wears something that stands out on her and I make sure she knows I notice. But my wife still has clothes that she wears from grade 8 (she’s 25) that fit her fine. They’re old and faded but regardless I still think she looks beautiful.
  • When I was taking extreme measures to lose weight I would get discouraged by fluctuations in the numbers I lost. Some days I’d lose 4 in a day others I’d lose 1. It was discouraging. It took some time but I learned that fluctuations are normal. Also that checking the scale frequently was not a great motivator. I try to…
  • Was two years and counting as of August this year so I guess I’ll join for the month of October as well. I basically started on a whim and it was only supposed to be temporary but I’ve loved the long term benefits so much I have kept it up. Didn’t even have a drink on my wedding day this year (we served alcohol to our 15…
  • So before pandemic, I was in bed at 8:00-8:30pm and up by 4:30-5:00am. I would pack my lunch, take an almost two hour commute to work, eat lunch at work, another two hour commute back, to cook and eat dinner. Now I’m up until 10pm and midnight and awake at 7:00am. Until I started tracking CICO I was not losing any weight.…
  • Seldom do I exceed my goal and even if I do exceed the goal I’ve usually had a greater deficit in previous days. I’ve been told I should keep an eye on my weekly caloric goals when deciding if I should snack or not if I’m approaching my goal for the day. In the case of my OP, I had left over calories but it was right…
  • So I looked at my wife’s weekly stats and it does seem to line up with the amount of weight she’s lost. There’s still about a .75 lbs deficit unaccounted for with me, but that could be anything. It’s actually way less significant now looking at it from a bigger picture. I guess my only concern now would be whether or not…
  • I’ll have to check this out. My main goal is to maintain some form of normalcy with my lifestyle choices. Me and my wife both agreed we were eating out too much so we have cut back. Perhaps I can give myself one day where I eat a little more and that could be the day we decide to eat out.
  • @ninerbuff I stopped working out five years ago when I moved in with my girlfriend (now wife). I couldn’t afford the gym membership and that’s when I put on 100+ lbs. I never liked working out and don’t intend to incorporate that back into my lifestyle. I do want to play hockey again though but couldn’t because I didn’t…
  • Yes this has happened, I worry about getting hungry throughout the day so I have a tendency to eat more snacks at night. Problem is that I end up getting too full to eat and then I go to bed. I’ve had some entries a while back that were over my goal as well. For example, my dinner’s average around 700 calories per meal. My…
  • @AnnPT77 Very helpful and insightful. You mentioned my body possibly not absorbing nutrients properly. This could very well be the case. I’ve got an undiagnosed gastrointestinal problem that my doctors are watching closely. It’s one of the reasons that I’m taking Metamucil daily. Somehow I caused some damage and the…
  • That’s what I think too - but then again could be anything right? I’m not exercising this time around so presumably it will balance itself out over time. My biggest worry is when I have to adjust to maintenance. Still a long way away but it’s got to be a nightmare figuring out and watching your weight to make sure you’re…
  • I’m sorry to hear that. My best friend is kind of in the same situation as you. His experience has been opposite and through talking the only obvious difference we could think of between the two of us was either genetics or our upbringings. I find it crazy how little we know about the human body with regards to controlling…
  • All good - I understood  I was starving last night and I realized I hadn’t eaten much. But I was worried it would affect my progress. I ate anyways (lol)
  • I’m currently on attempt 5 of losing weight since I was 18 (now 29). I’ve always been successful in the past at losing weight fast but I would also gain the weight back just as quickly and the weight would just PILE on. To give you an idea, I’ve been able to drop 50+ lbs (3.571 stone) in a couple of months. I’m trying…
  • Height: 178cm/5ft10 Weight: (current) 258lbs (goal) 180lbs Gender: Male Current caloric intake: 2200 calories a day
  • Okay! So nothing to worry about then!
  • Husband here. Her original post wasn’t very clear on those details. She is a healthy weight but wants to lose a few pounds over a long period of time. We’ve set her goal for maintenance but she finds eating to maintain still causes her to feel dizzy. She’s just offered to keep a food diary with me while I’m trying to lose…
  • I want to lose weight slowly. I’ve been able to lose 50lbs in 2 months on multiple occasions but I realize now that’s not sustainable. I always bounce back because I get tired of the lifestyle. Today I wanted to eat out and have a little treat. So I did, but I also kept my calories at a deficit (just not within the 1 pound…
  • Okay, sol I’ll give it a go and see if I can maintain my balance. If I can’t I won’t do it again!
  • Lol I could eat like 10 pounds of cheese in one sitting. I love cheese too much. One of the reasons I’m overweight.
