  • I weigh myself once weekly but I have scale anxiety. When I first started, I did it daily; I know fluctuations are normal but I found myself scrutinizing and obsessing over every ounce. Once I transitioned to weekly, the fluctuations weren’t noticeable and my daily mood wasn’t hindered by it. The weight loss trend was…
  • Also, measuring your weight loss can be a better tool than clothing size because of the reason I stated above. I got really discouraged because I wasn’t seeing a huge difference with my pants but the scale kept showing I was losing weight. So I started measuring and found that I, in fact, WAS losing inches. Damn you double…
  • F, 5’6”, 140, US pant size 11 currently. For better measurements I’m 36/30/40. Yes, pear-shaped, lol. At my highest, I was 167 and a size 13. 27 pound difference and only two sizes but I did drop 5 inches from my waist. They say it can take up to 25+ pounds to drop a dress size if you’re in the double digits - higher sizes…
  • New to group, returning to MFP after 8 months. Lost 20 pounds on Noom and came back to MFP to lose 5 more and maintain. 37, two kids, and married. 👋🏼
  • Yea, starving yourself will do that, nobody is arguing that. But decreasing your calories, eating right, and upping your exercise will too, in a healthy way.
  • Eating a balanced diet low in fat, sodium, and carbs does the same. It’s not specifically IF that lowers your risk of hypertension, diabetes, etc.; it’s the aforementioned that does. IF is WHEN to eat not WHAT to eat. There’s a difference.
  • Dude, you need to educate yourself and stop reading .com sites. If you’re going to Google, I suggest Google Scholar; at least you’d have more accurate data accessible. Secondly, logically, why would you think starving yourself for several hours, or even days, would do anything but slow down your metabolism or restrict…
  • LeeshaSeal - I said I wasn’t a nutritionist or a dietician, never said I didn’t have a formal education in health care; I actually work in oncology/cancer research. You cannot prevent cancer, or other types of diseases/co-morbities simply because you fast. There are ways to decrease your chances of specific ailments by…
  • LeeshaSeal - I’m not a trained nutritionist or a licensed dietician, and I’m not going to pretend to be one, but I am fairly familiar with anatomy and physiology and IF doesn’t “cleanse the body” (that’s what your liver and kidney do), rid a person of diabetes (see end statement), or reduce inflammation (which can have a…
  • IF helps with calorie restriction only. It has no specific health benefits. If you log your intake adequently and exercise, and you’re at or below your daily calories, IF isn’t needed. I tried IF (16:8 ratio) awhile back and I found I was eating MORE later because I felt famished. Eating 3 times a day has eliminated that.
  • I struggled with 1200 as well, on top of exercising every day. It wasn’t working for me. My sanity was being tested daily as I was ALWAYS hungry and ALWAYS felt tired. I switched from 2 pounds a week to 1 pound a week based on others advice here, and it upped my caloric intake to 1500, and even though my weight loss will…
  • I’m at the end of 4 weeks and nearly at 6 pounds lost. I bumped up my calories to 1500 but have only met that once, which I’m fine with. I feel much more satisfied at this goal and I’ve accepted that losing 2 pounds a week is just not for me. Who knew?! Lol! I know the meds don’t necessarily make you gain weight; I’ve been…
  • Thank you, guys! So far I’m already happy I changed it.
  • Thank you! I was trying to lose more than a pound a week as my husband and I start IVF in August and the meds tend to make you gain weight. Not to mention, if successful, I’d rather start at my ideal weight rather than be even heavier postpartum. But depriving myself daily had left me with fatigue and mad cravings. I’d…
  • I reserve calories for that because I’m always hungry right before bed, too!
  • Mine is two-fer: get rid of chafing, lol, and help with IVF that my husband and I plan to start in August. I was 135-140 pounds 3 years ago and got up to 163 as of mid-May. Just tired of making excuses and blaming my husband for weight gain, lol. I’m down to 159 as of today!
  • I wanted to add too that I primarily walk for exercise - 3 to 4 miles a day / about 80 minutes and it’s made my *kitten* look great so far! Hahah!

  • Hi there! This is my third time on here within the last year but devoted to it this time. I will be 36 next month and my husband and I are about to start IVF so I wanted to lose some weight in hopes of increasing our chances. I don’t have far to go really, 15-20 pounds, but it would make me feel better in the long run.…

  • I’m 5’6”, about to be 36 next month. When I met my now husband 3 years ago, I was 135-140ish and have bumped up to 160-165 currently. I’m fairly lucky in the “distribution” aspect - the fat plays fair everywhere on me (except my boobs - not fair, lol). But I do not feel comfortable in my skin so my goal is to lose 15-20…
  • Hi Deb! I just started 8 days ago and so far, so good. I use a walking buddy and try to get 3-4 miles in a day. I’ve also found that Smart Ones TV dinners take the guess work outta lunch, lol. My problem is portion control and cookies.
  • Hi there! I’m 36 and from Wisconsin. My husband and I are about to start IVF and I’m trying to lose some weight to help our chances. I could definitely use some support, too! I’ll try to keep ya motivated!
  • Same here! Been steady for 8 days. Some days I could really use a donut, though.
