@rheddmobile I do have a great doctor/surgeon! He was my mom’s ob/gyn and he delivered me so I trusted him completely! I had read about ovarian torsion after my doctor mentioned it as a risk and it sounds like hell! I’m so sorry your doctors dropped the ball on that one and you had that experience! I definitely…

Just adding that in the second picture, what you’re seeing is my rib cage! Lol

I’m going to try to make a long story less long! Last September (2018) my doctor found a large cyst in my right ovary, estimated to be about 11cm. I went back about 2 months later for a follow up ultrasound where it appeared to have grown so my doctor strongly suggested surgery to remove it. I was like yes please!!! I’d…

This is way too true...it’s so hard to find the balance. I’m struggling with this too.

Depending on how much you’ve lost in those months it could also be that your calorie target is now what your body requires to maintain its current weight. You might need to readjust your calorie target to continue having a deficit.

It sounds like his eating habits aren’t actually a problem for you, and that you’ve got a good grip on your own diet and fitness. The problem seems to be that you suspect there is a double standard in your relationship, where you are willing to put up with his weight gain but fear he would not tolerate yours. I don’t know…

Also, as a female, you may experience these hunger spikes in relation to your cycle. Almost every time I have a massive binge I get my period the very next day. Still working on solutions lol but I’m trying to eat more nutritious foods, as well as allow myself slightly more calories in the days leading up to the start of…

Start tracking everything. All the calories from everything you eat and drink. Seeing the numbers might help you decide to not blow your calories on alcohol. A lot of people find that when they get better at tracking and managing their calories in/calories out those skills transfer to managing their finances and other…

Beginning an exercise program can cause your body to retain water, which might hide fat lossfrom showing up on the scale for some time. Don’t get too discouraged by it! Just keep at it!

I think a snack prevention hotline is brilliant lol you’re doing so well! Have some hot tea to fill you up!

I also had a tough mental day. My scale has been up the last couple of days and woke up from a nap insanely hungry but had no more calories. I ended up eating over my calories but stopped before it turned into a binge. Still struggling mentally but also proud for showing some control and restraint! Also hoping the scale is…

I remember being very young and in dressing rooms with my mother and she’d comment how “fat and disgusting” she was when she looked fine. I think she was like a size 12 at the time (late 90s). Before that it had never crossed my mind that someone could not like their body and it sparked something for me. I’ve struggled…

Eating healthy and eating at a deficit are not the same thing. If you weigh more than you’d like, you need to eat less. And as for you assuming I’m a “once thin, gained some weight, trying to lose it” type person who doesn’t “understand,” I’m actually a 26 year old woman and was either overweight or obese from literally…

It can be liberating to know that fat cells have no knowledge or memory, so your thin friends do not actually have this advantage over you! What they do have are lifelong habits of eating a certain number of calories that allows them to maintain a lower weight. You can do exactly this. It will be harder for you only…

Since you haven’t experienced this before your career maybe your energy expenditure has gone up working your shifts as a nurse. It sounds like you may not be getting enough calories, which is why on your days off you feel this insatiable hunger. Maybe try a Fitbit or some kind of tracker that can give you an estimate of…

“Couldn’t have been me, officer. I was logging my food in MyFitnessPal!”

Your accomplishments definitely are something to be proud of. Look around at how many of us struggle to take care of our bodies! What you’ve achieved is extremely difficult. In addition to therapy and/or medication, maybe ask yourself what you would pursue if you knew you couldn’t fail at it. You love being in the gym and…

Like Ann said, you’ve been an engaged and helpful person on the forums. I don’t post much, but I’ve seen many of your posts while I’m browsing these message boards and your sharing your experiences and struggles has helped me in many ways. Please don’t give up on your health! Even if you gain some water weight from the new…

This is ridiculous and should seriously be illegal. So annoying.

Thanks for sharing. I was okay in a deficit for about a week and a half and then suddenly I snapped and had a binge-y weekend. I’m trying to not let it mentally ruin me in my efforts and I’m trying now to stay as close to maintenance as possible!
-
@AnnPT77 May I ask what happened when you ate at a deficit instead of maintenance following your surgery? I’m in a similar situation right now!
-
A few years ago I was in a similar position to where you are now. I had a sort of rebound once I stop over-exercising and restricting where I basically binged for maybe two or three months straight without engaging in compensatory behaviors (purging, restricting the next day, exercising.) I basically just just ate whatever…

I know for some people exercise increases appetite, but intense cardio usually somewhat suppresses mine. Days I do intense cardio are easier for me to stick to a calorie budget so maybe you could try incorporating more into your routine and see whether it hurts or helps.

I’m happy to communicate and socialize when I’m not trying to get work done, which is what I’m doing when I’m “working” out at the gym. A lot of the people at my gym are retirees and don’t have to budget their time as carefully as I try to.
