  • My mindset has gradually shifted from being all about the numbers on the scale to now being more interested in body composition and lifting heavy things! Instead of wanting to get to the lowest weight goal, I am now excited about working towards the day I can start my first bulk! No more low scale number. Give me a higher…
  • I'm tired of not putting myself first. My kids and my husband usually take the front seat for everything in my life. Not because it's forced on me, but because I feel obligated to put their needs before my own. This one thing--tracking calories and building strength--is for me and me alone. I want to feel better and look…
  • Welcome! This would be a good place for you to start. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10300310/most-helpful-posts-fitness-and-exercise-must-reads#latest
  • Congratulations! That's amazing! <3
  • I decided this week would be the week I started my strength training. Low and behold, it is now my TOTM. Yet, I am still training. It's taking a lot of blood, sweat and tears (quite literally - sorry guys!), but I didn't make the excuse to wait it out. I pushed through and I feel all the better for it.
  • Your lack of energy could be because you are depleting your sodium levels. Whenever you start, you lose all of that water weight by urinating often. Frequent urination will also flush out sodium. You will need more than just the Powerade. Try to keep your sodium intake at 3-5k daily. Especially in the beginning. One of the…
  • When I first joined MFP, I thought Woo was supposed to be a good thing. I woo'ed someone's progress picture as a means of showing celebration, as in whoo hoo!. I quickly learned afterwards that it meant something totally different. I agree that there's really no good use for it if all it shows is disagreement.
  • That would calculate to 5 pounds lost per week. This is excessive weight loss, and the recommended rate of loss is generally 1-1.5 pounds per week. I'm not saying it is impossible, but the chances of success are decreased. Also, it's hard to sustain over time and could possibly lead to you gaining back in the long run.…
  • And High Fives! High fives are awesome! When the scale is going in the right direction, celebrate it. And when it's not, take advantage of having your SO there to help you regroup.
  • My husband and I are both in this journey together. Every Saturday, the first thing we do in the morning is weigh ourselves, and then take each other's measurements. He measures me while I enter my numbers into my body measurement app, and then I measure him while he enters his. It keeps us accountable; and for us, it's…
  • Also, please keep in mind that us females have hormonal changes, and that will effect our weight at different times during the month. Weighing everyday will allow you to see the overall trend, but it will never be a straight line. There will always be ups and downs. As long as the overall trend is a decrease in extra…
  • You look amazing! Keep up the great work! :)
  • My husband had some extra room to eat a snack last night. We just got our scale. He fixed his regular ice cream, and then added a hefty scoop of peanut butter to the top. When he went to log it into MFP, it told him his 'snack' was 958 calories. He almost cried as he scraped the peanut butter off the top and chunked it in…
  • Can you do some stretching exercises at your desk? It sounds like you have extra time (even if it's not what you want). You can kill some time while also using the stretching to help you de-stress.
  • I've been at it for a little over a month now. My pants size started at a very tight 12. I refused to go up in size and I have been determined to go down instead. Well, yesterday I was able to fit comfortably into my size 10 petite work pants. And then this morning, my time of the month started! Holy cow! I fit those size…
  • I'm using those apps as well, and I am really liking them. They definitely push you, but in a good way. Good luck!
  • I used the Nike Training Club app. It's free and it allows you to customize an exercise plan based off of what type of equipment you have available, whether you are working out at home or in the gym, and what type of fitness you are trying to achieve (strength, lean up, fat blast, etc.). It also has workouts that allow you…
  • You look great! Your eyes are stunning!
  • Another important factor is really good stretches after each workout. That includes walking. Find a good runner cool down routine. It will stretch the same muscle groups. And it will lessen the soreness you feel the following day.
  • Jump in the Line (Shake Senora) - Harry Belafonte. :D It boosts my mood and I just have to MOVE!
  • It sounds like you and I have a lot in common! I too have my old clothes on stand-by in the closet. I cannot wait until the day where I can start bringing some of them out. Good luck to you, and thank you for adding that extra ripple! <3
  • My husband and I started using MFP just last month, so I'm a newbie. I am on the 1200 calorie plan, but I exercise 5-6 days a week so I am able to eat over the regular 1200 limit. We try to eat whole foods for 90% of our diet. We've been doing shrimp quinoa bowls, grilled chicken with fresh or lightly steamed veggies, very…
