  • Feels like it’s been 100 years since posting in here/being on MFP. Thought I’d jump back on. Hope all are well
  • Posting from phone so sorry if this is weird. Competed yesterday. Did well in most events. Finished tied 8th out of 13. I can do better. I’m taking some down time to recover but can’t wait to get back to it. All of my past work was worth it.
  • It’s been awhile since I’ve been on. I’ve been training hard and it all will be tested this Saturday. Pulling between 9000 and 9500 lbs. Will be pulling 14000 on Saturday. I feel ready but we will see!
  • Yesterday afternoon's workout: These were done after my entire deadlift set (135 X12, 185 X 10, 225X10, 295 X10, 335X10, 370X8, and 400X6), Shrugs, Curls, and cable Rows. I had to wait for the one rack that goes low enough with the safeties so I could rack pull otherwise would have done these right after deads. (445X5 for…
  • I feel this. What helped me is that when I first started lifting seriously, I worked with a trainer. She was phenomenal. Big on form and function over weight on the bar. As we continued to work together we moved from the private studio to the main gym- 1) Because the numbers I was starting to lift was starting to exceed…
  • Don't get me wrong it's nice to have the access, it just means I have to go at non-prime times to guarantee access. So between 8PM and 4AM. Gym closes at 10 PM and opens at 4:30 AM, but with the 24 hour pass late nights are fine if you don't mind not sleeping  Every gym is different though. Mine is a commercial gym,…
  • I got to the gym earlier than normal last night. It was significantly busier than my normal time. I couldn't get to all of the equipment I needed so the workout was cut short last night. I'll be sure to be back at my normal time tonight to make up for the lifts I missed on. Days like yesterday that makes me think investing…
  • Saturday's workout- nothing special about it, but it was a good workout. On Sunday before my workout I met up with a friend to do some car push for cardio, and is a fun add in for part of my training. I was pushing my car (~3,500 lbs/1587 Kg) which was surprisingly lighter than I anticipated, for 50 ft sprints. The parking…
  • I love seeing what everyone's doing and their progress. I've gotten super serious with my program lately due to some strong goals I've placed in front of me. Sometimes at least until the program becomes not as new to me I tend to like to train in silence and share the results of the work. That and I'm doing a lot of boring…
  • You're killing it like always. Looks like you are re-energized and going hard after it.
  • This makes me think of High School and the "music" I would listen to. Most of it was good, but some of it was just to get my mom to freak out.
  • Ketchup/Catsup Soy Sauce Mustard Hotsauce Worcestershire Funny thing other than the Worcestershire (I'm just not sure if it does) none of these items currently in my fridge require refrigeration.
  • After a failed attempt a week ago I opted for the rack pull this week just to see if I could pull it to lockout. 500 lbs a new PB. 500 was my goal by July 1 for a conventional pull. I have a week. It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. Ended up taking a break in May and have slowly been building back up. Next week I’ll try…
  • So I flew just recently, and I've always wondered why they would charge for extra/overweight luggage. I've been in line to check baggage multiple times only to find that the person in front of my was overweight on luggage so they move stuff from that bag to their carryon to avoid additional charges. The weight of what was…
  • That 375 looked solid! Great work! Honestly I think you can hit that 400 with a little more time to set up and a good nights rest. For your competition does it need to be a fluid movement or can you go "continental?" Good luck if you attempt the 400 for the comp! Side note- Super jealous of your set up. Someday I'll get my…
  • You all are killing it. I've been out of the gym for a couple of weeks to reduce COVID risk for a trip next week, but now that I've been cleared/tested, I'm chomping at the bit. Thank you all for sharing. In a weird way knowing others are out there killing it, makes it easier to stay out of the gym for the short period I…
  • A basket full of broken tech gadgets (phones, tablets, etc.), a set of binoculars (no clue why they are on top of the fridge), a key chain tape measure, a weird scalp massager thing, bread, and my food scale. If they got in the cupboard above my fridge they would get a bunch of spices.
  • You Killed it! Can I be like you when I grow up? Seriously though, it looks like all of the training and hard work paid off and you definitely should be proud of your accomplishment. Your son has one awesome Mom, and I'm sure he knows it!
  • I agree that Overhead Press requires strict form and no leg drive, otherwise it is a Push Press. However, depending on goals/purpose of training, the push press has it's place. Body building/aesthetic lifting OHP is the lift. It's greater for building size. If training for a sport, such as competing in weight lifting/cross…
  • I agree with this. The hips may be the key here, but also your head doesn't move forward much which may be causing your upper back to be bent back a bit more. *Brings back memories of a trainer that kept saying bring your head through the window over and over on every press* I do think your upper back arch (as long as not…
  • Yeah a regular de-load would be hard with that much time left of regular gym attendance. I'll be honest and say I don't know what I would do in that time frame. Maybe switch up order of exercises? That is a bit of a tough one. Have you tried the pre-workout yet? Did it help?
  • Glad you are back, and glad your trip was safe and successful! I appreciate you posting these. One of the things I look forward to when on this site. Thanks for sharing!
  • Your lifts are strong! If the number listed next to the date is your body weight, your lifts are really strong. Those are some solid ratios especially on the Squat and Deadlift. You're doing great things! Do you feel stalled because of lack of energy, or is it just that the weight isn't increasing but energy levels are…
  • Thanks to everyone that weighed in on my question. I checked with my gym tonight and they have said 16 is the minimum to train their so I think I’ll invest in some dumb bells and start working with her from home to start. Will take it slow and see if she enjoys it. If she does it may be worth investing in some gym…
  • It’s been awhile but thought I’d share this. With that said I’m still proud of this. Having stalled out on squats recently at 335 tonight things were feeling good. I was able to do 365 for a triple for two sets tonight. When the first set went well so I made my wife grab a quick video of my second set. I was moving slow so…
  • In the spirit of learning, I'd really like to seek some opinions from this group. I am curious at what age you would say it's okay to start lifting? I have read a good number of articles and sport medicine journals on this, but I'm guessing that some of you have had experience, and or have an opinion on this. I ask because…
  • That's the face of someone whos getting stuff done! Great Lift. That looks like a lot of fun. Out of curiosity what was the weight on the with both tires?
  • I agree with your assessment. The one thing I would say though is it depends on the height you set your rack pull to. I know guys that are just at or below the kneecap and there isn't as much gain or improvement (unless focusing on that specific part of the deadlift) as lower depending on your height. The lowest rack I…
