No idea without seeing you perform the exercise. I would say that if it hurts then stop doing it. I had to abandom weighted dips for a similar reason. Keep pushing yourself and you could find yourself in snap city

I work out at home. It means i can go straight from lifting weights, too my fridge where all the goodness lives. Plus i dont need to leave the house on a cold day. I could go on...

Motivation comes in ebs and flows, like happiness, hunger and satisfaction. Its in the doing that change happens. So even if sometimes you dont feel like sticking to your plan, just do it.

I would honestly just pick either losing fat or gaining muscle and go for it. Like stated above, if you arent comfortable with the fat you currently hold then eat in a slight caloric deficit for a while then slowly up the cals till you are gaining around 2 to 4 lbs a month. Aslong as you are in a calorie surplus you can eat anything and will gain weight. But i assume you want the best bang for your buck? All nuts, nut butter, oils.. Olive, coconut.
