  • I started at 360 lbs and even I have only lost 2 lbs a week. Any more than that needs to be cleared by your primary care provider.
  • @corinasue1143 and @PAV8888 Yes, that was me! I have been drinking a lot of Boost so you're right, I don't usually have that much sugar. I didn't even think about that. Everything came back mostly normal. My MCH and MCV were low which can indicate anemia, so she has me taking an iron supplement. She also has added a…
  • Thanks for the responses everyone. I feel much more at ease because it sounds like I'm already going the right way. I just get very concerned about it because of my weight and history.
  • I was just saying to my husband that even though I've lost 30 pounds, no one has commented on my weight loss. Except for one very lovely coworker who I thought was just commenting on it because she knows I have been losing weight. Within the last week, quite a few different coworkers have commented on it. Some of the…
  • I'm in the process of getting a diagnosis for what I thought was a stomach bug. I highly recommend Boost as an easily digestible way to get nutrients. This was approved by my doctor but of course, talk to yours. I find that the BRAT diet doesn't work for me - can't do bread, applesauce or bananas because they all upset my…
  • Update: the appointment went well. The provider I saw actually had a GI background. Even though it was supposed to be a 15 minute appointment, she spent about 45 minutes making sure she noted all my symptoms, family history, and talking about what tests she thought were necessary. She was a bit concerned because my BP was…

  • Tha ks everyone for the responses. I think I will push for them to check my gallbladder among other things. I called and apparently my PCP is on vacation, guess it must have been a surprise vacation for her to have canceled appointments. I did make an appointment for this Thursday morning with another physician in the…

  • It does but it is considered safe for lactose intolerance and it doesn't bother me at all. I did call and got an appointment with another physician in the practice - I guess mine is on vacation for a couple weeks.

  • Someone mentioned Celiac and my dad has a history of gallstones. I'm already diagnosed with lactose intolerance. You're right, there are soooo many options it could be. Hell, combined with other issues that I have that I have been thinking of as separate, it could even be something like ovarian cancer. So many options.…

  • I did go out and buy some Ensure the following day and that actually felt much better. I had a small solid lunch today about 5 hours ago and I'm still quite full, so I may be having Ensure for dinner. I did get the Plus for the sake of having enough calories so it seems so far, so good. Since the liquids are sitting well…

  • I tend to have nausea in the morning and usually don't eat until about 4 hours or so after I wake up. During my work week, I usually eat all my food between 12 pm and 8 pm and repeat. I don't like eating late because then I can't sleep, and 12 is just when I get to work, so no reason for the window other than convenience.…
  • Thank you! I hope so too, honestly!

  • Thanks for the responses, everyone. You're all right, of course - I shouldn't put myself in pain for the sake of eating. @Lillymoo01 I looked it up just now and it definitely does sound like a possibility. It can't hurt to keep the fats low, which should be fairly easy if I do a liquid diet. @missysippy930 thank you, I was…

  • I'm sure many of us in this group can relate, but this time I started to work on repairing my relationship with food and correcting some disordered eating. I used to binge and restrict, with the rare purge thrown in. I've worked hard on identifying my triggers and it's been over a month since my last binge. I'm also…
  • Let's see...the other day I tried on a friend's cardigan at her recommendation because I said it looks comfy. It was very oversized on her (the look she was going for) but I still didn't think it would fit. I told her I'm a 3x, and she said the cardigan was an XL. I'm thinking, no way that'll fit. I tried it on anyway and…
  • I agree with Novus in that every plan should be tailored to you and your wants/needs. One of the many things that differs this time around is that I am no longer involving other people, even my husband. Many friends, family, and coworkers know about it and everyone has been very supportive, but I'm not relying on anyone…
  • I am very guilty of jumping in with both feet, as it were. This time though I am trying to focus on foods that don't make me feel icky, as well as focusing more on CICO than macros. Making small and gradual changes seems to work.
  • I'm hoping that fat brain will pass me by, as I've always had the opposite problem as an adult. I think I look a certain way and feel pretty good about myself, but then I'll see a picture and think, is that really how large I am?
  • I have a coworker that I absolutely adore and nearly every day I walk by and she either wolf whistles or says "hubba hubba". Makes me feel good!
  • Yellow mustard and a slice of bologna rolled up was my dad's go-to snack. I used to do the same but added american cheese.
  • Coffee is quite low-cal, so if you had 120 cals just from that, and the only other things you had to eat were an ice cream sandwich and some turkey, then yes, I'd say it's from not eating enough. What is your average weekly caloric intake?
  • He has tiny good nuggets of advice but CICO is literally science? The only way you lose fat is at a caloric deficit. Maybe he meant that the act of actually counting and logging is, in his opinion, unsustainable. There are plenty of people who don't count calories and still lose weight...but they're still eating at a…
  • This paragraph alone deserves a "woo"..
  • I've started and failed more times than I can count. All the other times I hated myself so much and felt that being thin might make me hate myself less. This time I finally love myself enough that I want to be around for as long as I can. I don't have any health issues that can come with obesity, and I would rather not get…
  • I am not in maintenance so perhaps my thoughts aren't relevant, but I learned as I was starting that fats tend to keep me more satiated than carbs. One of my absolute favorite salads is very low carb but very high in fats and proteins and that sucker keeps me full for hours! There may be benefits to keeping fats low that…
  • Thank you. I'm really glad it's working for you and I know you will definitely get to that point. I used to think to lose weight I had to hate myself enough, but this time around it's because I love myself enough. I just started but I am already sure that I'll get to the point of maintaining
  • Absolutely. What many call "cheating", and what I used to as well, I now think of as living my life. I also used to struggle with "falling of the wagon". I would have a day where I went over on calories, feel guilt and shame again, and then think that I'd already set myself back, so what's the point of continuing? Now,…
  • Funny enough, when I was searching for it on Google, a thread on MFP that @MikePTY posted recently came up. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10748201/four-terms-that-make-dietitians-cringe-why-we-say-what-we-do-on-these-boards/p1
  • Hell of a way to have a midlife crisis ;) Congratulations on your accomplishments so far, and happy birthday!
