Wow Sam... That's a lot of time and work, especially on so few calories - I think it would depress me too. In your shoes I'd be changing my aim for the week from 5 days of resistance and cardio, to doing weights 3 times a week (full body routine) on a Mon, Wed, Fri - that gives sufficient recovery between workouts and…

Me too.

Aside from cutting down on commuting time the thing that really helps me is to have my meals prepped so I can eat almost as soon as I get through the door. Then, while I'm digesting I'll mark books and plan lessons. Once that's done I head down to my gym (shed) and work out (working out at home also helps!).

Well, I mean... that thread's okay, but it doesn't really cover confined spaces in the same way

That could really save some money when going on vacation. Just pop into a case and someone could carry you onto your flight as hand luggage

I was in a similar position to you (with several times more to lose) and boy oh boy did I hate my Dad Bod. What I did was reduce calories while keeping protein up and did beginner whole body exercises with a set of dumbbells to get my overall fitness level up while I was losing weight. Once I reached my target weight…

Amazing - you look so much younger!

Oh man alive, you're broken  Absolute nectar - I spend my whole workout looking forward to my shake (sad aren't I). It sort of reminds me of the banana flavored candy I used to love as a kid.

Mine make a horrendous noise - on the stairs too. I got them checked out just after Christmas and I have narrowing of the cartilage gap in the left knee. Lunges are actually painful so I don't do them but squatting though noisy is fine as long as I strap my knees and don't go too heavy. I've been working on some exercises…

You can't beat simple unflavored whey blitzed up with a frozen (over ripe) banana.

I really sense your frustration - you have my sympathy. What worked well for me was bulk meal prep and honest logging - the times I wobbled most were the times where I didn't have my meals planned and prepped because it gave me an excuse to deviate from good choices. I also found that by knowing what I was having at each…

I usually get in from work at about 17:00 - bulk prepped meals for the week mean I am able to zap and eat dinner by about 17:30 and I work out at about 20:00 once it's had some digesting time. Then I'm back in for some greek yogurt and a protein shake and some chill out time before bed.

If you keep chickens for long you'll get to see all manner of peculiar eggs. Big ones, small ones, long ones, wrinkly ones, some without a shell just a membrane, others with 2 shells, some with no yolk, even some with an egg inside another egg. Honestly - look up wind eggs, I'm not making it up

Beat up Doc Martens, baggy sweat pants and an old T-shirt. Why? Because nobody can see me working out in my shed and I don't really care

In my shed! When I'm going down there to work out I say I am going to the "gym" When I'm going down there to use the lathe or make stuff I say I am going to the "workshop"

The thing to remember with nutritional data is that it is all based around averages (even that published on packets). Unprocessed food is not a homgenous mass and will vary slightly from batch to batch, crop to crop, with seasonality, storage periods etc etc. When confronted with varied data the best bet is to assume a…

Hi - if you could fill in your profile it will help us to see what your goals and motivators are - that way like minded folks can find out what they have in common with you which will help with the connecting aspect... I've reached goal weight (for now) and am working on building lean muscle and improving my fitness level.…

I'm looking for inspiring male friends who are beginning lifting and share similar goals - getting rid of a Dad bod and building some lean muscle.

This made me laugh - mainly because I happen to be sat here with the Columbo box set on my lap wondering which one to watch next!

Take this negative and turn it into a powerful positive and use it to fuel your progress and determination. Think about what you are unhappy with - what will it take to change it? This will help you find the resolve to get started and you can also use this to fight the urge to snack/graze/eat unhealthily etc. Visualise how…

I have to slow my reading down - I nearly choked myself before I read it again properly.

I can't imaging trying to drive home after a workout - my muscles are a pile of quivering useless jelly and there's no way I'd be safe behind the wheel! It's so nice to finish and hop right into the shower and feel fresh again.

What a fantastic job - well done and long may it continue.

Thank you - I quit my old career and re-trained when I turned 40 which was a big step. My son's poor experience at school made me so angry with the system that I wanted to do something positive to improve the experience for others. Glad to hear she is settling well now - my son was premature by the same amount too and was…

Hello Ali,my eldest son is 17 and is affected by dyspraxia and Asperger's - I totally understand how you feel about the future (as well as doing too much for him!). I teach youngsters in the 7-9 year old range and work with some wonderful individuals who see the world differently - finding new ways to unlock their…

Marinade cubes in low fat greek yogurt seasoned with your choice of herbs with a little garlic (powder is fine for this) then thread onto kebab sticks with or without your choice of sliced veggies and grill 'till done. If you like it spicy add some chilli, curry/tandoori powder or whatever floats your boat. Simple and…

Forgot to say - you will read a lot about cherries helping people but as far as I could find much of this is anecdotal. For example - if I had hit on cherries at the same time as realising tomato triggered an attack I might be tempted to say it was the cherries that had helped. There are some studies about the effects of…

I also suffer with gout and spent a year working through an exclusion diet to establish exactly what triggered an attack for me - as it happens tomato products especially those using puree (even waaayyyy down the ingredients list) is a REAL problem for me. Probably the next most significant thing I found was that keeping…

Fantastic work - your pat on the back is well deserved :+1: I'm working towards the same goal at 45 - I started at 210 and am down to 180 so far since July with a few more still to go... but these are the stubborn last ones! I've got a problem with my left knee and shifting a few lbs has helped more than I expected.
