For you 1st shift workers who workout in the evening, do you workout before dinner or after? I get home from work at 4. I plan on cooking & eating dinner (a light dinner) then an hour or so later do my weight training & strength training. The cardio, i will do in the mornings before work.

I go to the gym after work before I go home...if I'm home, I'm home...and after dinner is my put the kids to bed and chill time.

I personally hate working out after dinner, so if I'm not exercising in the morning I will do it before dinner.

My motivation is better before dinner but I'm better fueled after dinner, so usually after.

I usually get in from work at about 17:00 - bulk prepped meals for the week mean I am able to zap and eat dinner by about 17:30 and I work out at about 20:00 once it's had some digesting time. Then I'm back in for some greek yogurt and a protein shake and some chill out time before bed.

My gym class is 7-8:30, so I tend to have two dinners. One that is around 330-430 and a second at 930ish once I am home and showered.

I find that when I exercise before dinner, I eat less because I’m just not as hungry.

I tend to eat about 1500-2000 calories for dinner so when I strength train I perform much better without a loaded stomach.

Not to mention there would be some wasted energy used for digestion that would effect my training also.

For me, always before dinner, because after dinner is chill out time. But I guess that's a personal preference, you do what works best for you. :)
