  • In a year from now, if I haven't been exposed and died because of some selfish bare-faced jerk in the market, I will be quite happy to be accused of having over-reaacted today. our company has been on work-at-home since march 17th, and we're told to expect it to stay this way thru june, maybe longer. our owner is in Italy,…
  • at the top of all the different message boards are a bunch of pinned threads with Newbie How2 info. it's a great resource!
  • What isn't working about the diet plan that your health care team provided for you?
  • You look pretty youthful in your profile image, and maybe have not been on the receiving end of advice such as you are considering to give a loved one. Worry about your self, and be willing to share if you are asked. I'm pretty sure you won't find a "good" way to open that subject with anyone, loved or not.
  • We all want to succeed, and we all want help to stay on track. Be a buddy to yourself, first and foremost. Talk yourself into making the good choices. Is it easy ?HECK NO!~ I struggle every single day with this. What are you going to do when your online buddy isn't there to boost you up when you're down? What are you going…
  • I'm in the twice burned, third time might be the charm category of single women. My experience with online meeting, greeting and getting acquainted has had similar results as you describe. Promising words exchanged in emails/texts that go no where and finally die, or, one-time meetups that fail to spark a fire that endures…
  • have you tried strapping the phone to your ankle or upper arm using one of bands designed for such? That might be a little less weird than the belt pack. I've got a few other thoughts that might be useful for you to kick around your mind: one other thought is , if you can afford it, get the apple watch with the cell plan…
  • i admit to being curious about drunken shrimp, that stop moving just before they are eaten.
  • ewwww, i was afraid of a reply like this one. i'm going to work on the theory that the pieces are incorporated sufficiently to no longer resemble their origin. I do love me some sausage, and, pork roll is another item that probably has me eating organ bits as well. I figure I eat a few bugs with my fresh veggies also. But,…
  • Look at substitutions for variation. So, for example, added sugars can come from different sources - not just white refined granules, fruit, jams, jellies, syrups can replace them and add interesting flavors. I haven't met many foods that don't respond well to being combined with coconut milk and curry. One of the best…
  • organ meat.
  • spread your calorie allotment more evenly over the course of the day. breakfast , lunch and dinner are just labels for eating events. imo, you can eat what you want, when you want. I expect you already know that to lose weight is just to eat fewer calories than you burn through activity. gooid luck!
  • once i lost 30 pounds, the safe rate of loss for my goal weight is just half a pound a week. while it feels like my loss rate has stalled, when i look at the longer term trend line over 3 or 6 months, I can see that 1/2# coming off.....slooooooowly but surely. with just a 1/2# worth of calorie reduction, it is incredibly…
  • Make yourself a little to-go bag with a regular (not paper) plate, bowl and some silverware. Then, where ever you are traveling, at the end of the day go to the supermarket and visit the following departments: PRODUCE for some fresh fruit, a bag of salad greens, the SALAD BAR for stuff to add to the bag of greens, the MEAT…
  • I'm a walking commercial (unpaid) for the electric pressure cooker idea. best thing that ever happened to my personal fitness goals because it makes bulk meal prep sooooooo flipping quick that I don't have any more excuses about poor food choices. even if i didn't use it for anything but chicken breast, it would be worth…
  • $5 a month for an ad free experience on an app I use multiple times a day is worth it to me. Plus, I can record fractional quantities, and that's a big deal for me.
  • salted caramel ice cream
  • My experience is that the less I aim to lose per week, the easier it is to overeat - because the calorie deficit isn't very big to start with. SO I think it is even more critical to be absolutely diligent about weighing every single thing that goes into your mouth to eat. A heavy hand with the salad dressing can be all it…
  • I like to periodically look at the Nutrition section of the App, where I can view the food I've logged by macro. It helps me to see which foods I eat are at the top of those Macro lists; I'm often surprised how little or much of a macro I'm actually getting in some of the food I eat. If you are using the online browser…
  • My tip is to go the the Getting Started forum section, and read up on the sticky posts at the top. There's a ton of info there that will help answer your questions. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/getting-started MFP offers more than just hte community forums here; use the app to set your goals and track…
  • Do a job twice, and it's yours.
  • All of me, why not take all of me? you took the part, that once was my heart, so why not take all of me? this has been running nonstop for days.....i wish it would stop!
  • Well, not that I'll convert anyone, but, here's a list of the non-stew like things I cook in a pressure cooker:* root vegetables * rice * roast beef * whole chicken * chicken pieces * sausage links * eggs I freeze my meals in wide mouth glass mason jars: typically 1/2 cup each of rice and beans, with 3-4 oz of meat. All…
  • You went to the trouble to find MFP - don't just limit yourself to the community forum posts. You'll miss out on a lot of useful and valuable information. EVery forum has sticky posts with the most common topics explained. MFP lets you set goals based on your age, weioght and activity level and allows you to log your food…
  • There is an entire section on Fitness and Exercise that may well have a lot of input to help you make decisions in this area. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/fitness-and-exercise
  • That's a gender neutral benefit of weight loss, the ability to see that there are body parts below the belly.
  • THere are many posts I have read that seem to support the idea that we should accept a fluctuation in daily weight, as much as 5# sometimes. I know I'm a lot more at ease with the scale reading, now that I accept that. My personal gauge for how well I'm doing is the fit of my clothes. I don't care if the scale shows me a…
  • I don't think my question is unreasonable. I use a scale to weigh my food and count calories. It isn't clear at all how more time in the kitchen preparing food is going to make my use of a scale or my ability to count any different than if I use a pressure cooker. that's all I was asking.
  • instead of a range, i'd suggest shooting for one target number. there is a 60g difference that adds up to alot over a week if you were always at the high end of that range. have you used MFP to set your goals? that's how I do it and so do many others here who have found succcess counting calories and watching macros/ good…
